There was a guy on here a,while back who suggested that there was a lot more Nat repro of kings on the south shore than most thought . And as,I recall he got pretty beat up over it .
Can't remember who that was .
-
After talking with the guy at the show , magnums Metalz will be my choice if I go new .
-
Fishing was as,good as I could hope it would be and continues to be good .
Lots of kings which seem to be average size a little bigger .
The last 3 years have been awesome ..

Those dying fish are put in the lake for the sole purpose to generate money for the region and tax dollars for the state .
We took a ride up that way to the hatchery last Fall and could not believe the amount of cars / people all the,way up the river from Pulaski to Altmar . And no doubt dropping a lot of cash . And that area depends on it .
So if you think they are going to shut it down , that ain't going to happen .
-
Lovin me some Nat repro of kings
Will assure we will always have at least some in the lake .

Back out late afternoon Tues . Did my Small boat tactics j plug program . Wasn't out there 5 min and #3 glow green takes a nice hook jaw king. I'm like yea , its going to be a good day .
No more hits .
Yes Dickey , I his the motor with a,hammer and it worked so I figure I'm all good .

You guys are dreaming .

Save the money and Get a speed probe / surface temp add on for your depth finder . 40 to 70$ . It's not a fish hawk but will be a huge help.
I love my buckets . Would not be without them . I attribute a,lot of my fish to them. And they are free.

Just troll downwind. Stop, clear your lines and run upwind and get back to trolling. Unless you have a good wheels person on the wheel continuously, your boat turns sideways too often.
That s crazy . A lot of ,in fact most of the hits I get are going into the wave .Mostly because I head west out of port and head to my fishing grounds which are farther than I drop lines .
Learn how to do it . Without speed you should be using speed forgiving lures and turning a lot .
SOG is pretty much worthless unless you note the direction of troll on the hit and duplicate the direction . Even that is hit and miss because a few degrees either way can seriously affect your down speed .
-
Ditto on the buckets
I use 1 on each side on my 21 trophy w/ 230 IO for 35 years .
I posted on here how to make them a while back
Tie them to mid ship cleat and adjust rope so they are about 4 ft from the transom running on the sides .
They are as big a part of my equipment as anything on my boat and are in and out of the water all day to fine tune my speed .
As far a trolling straight , that's on the driver . Driving the boat to get fish to bite is an art form IMO . I get as many hits or more trolling into waves,as going with them .

I was lucky as a leprechaun both days .
1 fish landed each morning and very happy I did that .
-
We went to a meeting about him getting approvals .
Apparently the channel issue has been straightened out .
Guy seem like a nice guy and serious about it .
I'd be surprised If there are not boats there this spring .
-
With the forecast , I wasn't going out and was going to fish the creek but I saw lights on Coyote K boat so I went out behind him .
Flatest seas I've seen in weeks . But the lake flipped and cold water .
Made a few passes with no hits .
Last ditch effort I flat lined across the mouth my precious pearl white black dot #3 Northport nailer j plug and tagged a nice hen for eggs .
Beat that spot up and that was it .

Finally got out this, morning to easterly rollers .
My normal Small boat tactics J plugs program. Started close, and worked out to 40 ft . Really did not see much so made a last pass in 20 ft . One rod went off bounced a few times and nothing there . As I was reeling it it the other hooked up to a nice hen which was released .
#4 silver bullet took the fish and #3 green glo took the hit .
Went back out for evening run . No hits .

And I'm sure you are more than happy to donate the next 2 months of your salary or pension to those that have had the the rug pulled out from under them for the greater good .
You know , to share the burden .
Walk a mile in their shoes .
Until then , your words don't mean much.
Inconvenience and losing everything are two different things.
There are risks in life .
Americans use to be brave . What happened?

Death from this are way down , or am I wrong ?
A lot of the positives are asymptomatic , or am I wrong about that ?
People get sick and die every day . From a lot of stuff .
I refuse to be afraid of it .
Dont be get paid for 6 months , lose what you have worked for all you're life and then talk to me .
From a strictly medical point of view maybe you are right to try and save everyone . From a practical point , it's time to go for it .

Here here.
Just opening back up and “going for it” in actuality is the worst thing we could do.
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario UnitedAnd thats your opinion . A lot of data and facts saying the other .
What's the death toll by itself with no other contributing factor such as obesity etc? It's pretty low .
Maybe we should be more diligent about banning fast food and Twinkies . If you stuff you face with this garbage , and wash it down with a 6 pack and smoke a cigarette and are unhealthy , it puts you at huge risk if you contract it . That's on you .
I hear that there is a Bill in congress to slash all public employees pensions and health care workers pay and benefits by half to fund the extra unemployment that is needed . I'm sure they will be all for it to pitch in to share the burden .
I'll take my chances , there are no guarantees in life .

There are a lot of people going broke and will take a decade or more to financially recover from this.look at all the business going under .
What gets me most is there are people who are working and getting paid telling people they can't work . If these same people were faced with losing everything and bankruptcy, they might feel differently .
So IMO , it time to open stuff up and go for it .
If you are young and in reasonably good health , you don't have much to worry about . And yes some people will die.
And anyone who doesn't see this is a political football is blind , respectfully .

There soon will be a cure .
It's called the election .

All fuel now unless specified at the pump has 10 % ethanol in it .
The ethanol attracts water .
Worse than that it's caustic and will break down the rubber components of older engines and tanks not made to take it. Anything that disintegrates , get dissolved and pushed thru the carb. It causes all kinds of problems .
Look for stations that offer non ethanol gas .

You definitely want to get out very early and late for staggers . I find it slows way down after the first 2 hrs , USUALLY ,and just before dark they turn on .
.
Sometimes it's good all day ,especially if it is choppy or cloudy and raining .

J plugs are pretty much all I run now till the end of the season. But maybe not this year as I have testing to do .
I have 30# and put 25 ft of 15 or 20# on .
Tie direct to the j plug , no swivels . I use #3 ,#4 size .
I have 2 riggers on my small boat and run 1 rod on each . That's it . All I need .
First light in close 12 to 20 ft depth , setback both same of 50 to 75 ft . One Ball 10 ft off bottom on one half way down on other . Ball may be just under surface . Deeper , setback of 35 ft . I know the plugs dive 7 ft in 35 ft . And the fish like to sit on the bottom when Sun comes up . Mid day I have run them back 150 ft to get a hit and it works sometime .
Colors ... sliver bullet , w/ w/o red head , glow green florescent , white black dot ( first light killer ) watermelon , and there are others .
It's a misnomer that they need to be run fast . I get fish going slow with them also so vary your speed and turn a lot .

I have a 21 hardtop I/O .
Very Seaworthy, comfortable boat .love the hardtop.
Great boat for 3 men , a little crowded 4 but good .
No boat does everything well . That's why I have 3 . My wife says who has 3 boats ? I tell her I could have 3 girlfriends .
I have seen a lot of nice 19 to 21 aluminum / outboards that look very fishable .But if it's strictly Salmon , it hard to beat the weight of fiberglass IMO.
If you are going to keep it docked , a 24 is not to big .
But again, stringer/ transom rot , lower unit/ engine rebuilds are not cheap , and it could nickle and dime you in that price range .
Just be ready/ prepared for that .
-
That is not a lot of money for a boat turn key and is sizable . Anything older than 15 years and you could have potential big money problems . That being said , good luck with it .
There is a new Marina opening up some time in the future on Sandy .
You could be my neighbor !
Sandy in Hamlin?

I heard the waves crashing on the beach this morning from my cottage .
