  3. Got out this AM from 6 to 10.  Kept 3 LT and 1 RT.  Released 2 small LT.  Bite was good early, but died by 7:30.  Caught fish down 40 to 60.  One LT and the RT were 21".  Did observe some algae in spots, but not nearly as bad as last summer.  A few other guys out fishing, mostly near shore.  Been almost 2 years since we caught a LLS.  Anybody connect with any LLS lately?

27lb wow, a monster for the finger lakes.  I wonder what the biggest laker ever landed on a finger lake is?

Guys. I love this forum. Nice work guys on the all the recent Monstets reeled up that were publicized. I think there is a state record in one of the lakes.....somewhere. We may never get it.

I met the guy from Moravia who caught the big monster a few years back at Myers point. Hell of a nice fella.

Skn has got some monsters in it. I landed a 33 inch , 15-16 poundr about 4 years back. Got the last minute of the fight and surfacing of the fish on video. Oh how I love fishing that lake. Last fall we were casting and my bro in law got spooled. Something took his lure swivel and all the line off his reel. He was standing there like a kid who dropped his ice cream cone. Hilarious. I wanna catch that one!

  5. Hey y’all.
Skn Sunday am. I fished for 2 brief hours.
    Went 1 for 5.
    Could a nice 20in Laker.

Had a few short hits near Lourdes camp 45-100 ft over 105-190. ...and fought a f$cking monster laker for 7-8 minutes. (I assume as I picked it up in 80 ft of water.) It took a couple runs and finally I see the fluoro leader, and 1 huge head shake later and it was over. It is always a bummer to lose a big fish, but that’s what keeps us all coming back.

When I was fishing I noticed some odd algae in the water, like translucent peas floating which is not the SKN norm. Later that morning we drove town on the boat for lunch.....and sure as **** the algae was back at the town docks. Big bummer. It was on the news yesterday and today.

Pray for wind, rain and cooler temps.

  6. Launched out of Taughannock Falls State Park yesterday morning around 6:45 am.  We did not know about the Cayuga Lake Triathlon going on, so it was much more busy at the State Park / launch than we were expecting.  Got the boat in the water and headed North on the West side of the lake.  Started marking a ton of bait fish around 75-80 FOW with some lakers sitting on the bottom.  Decided to give it a try and had the first hookup on our second drop.  Fished from 7am - 12pm and had a steady pick of lakers averaging 6-10 lbs.  All were caught on 1oz jigs with white paddletails, white tubes, and white/chartreuse paddletails.  Realized part way through the morning that they preferred a faster retrieve.  We ended up with 12 lakers, and the biggest surprise of the day was a real nice rainbow that my mom caught right on the bottom in 90 FOW (Is it normal for them to be that deep this time of year?).  She got it to the surface and as soon as it saw the boat it started peeling line off.  It put up a great fight and was fun to watch.  All fish were successfully released.

  7. I am doing a trip on the 13th. Pm me after then. During the derby this weekend I did not catch as many as I did a few weeks ago but still ended with 12 or 15 and they were all big fish. For me I had dry spell between 1:00 and 3:00pm. I noticed the water quality changed several times and when I was in clear water the fishing slowed. Change speed up. If you are searching for fish do a zig zag pattern and keep track of fish caught. If the fish are on the outside of turn you need to speed up. If they are the inside slow down. I started with lures close to bottom with little luck so I moved to deeper water and started catching fish. The fish are always moving so if you are not catching fish move. Two weeks ago I was catching fish 2.8 to 3.5 mph. This weekend I did better at 2.2 to 2.5 mph. Make sure you match your lures with the speed. Cowbells do not work well at 3.5 and spin doctors do not work as well below 2.00 mph. Just keep changing things up. 600' copper with grease trap did best, wire rods were second and riggers did 3 or 4 fish. Wes

Guys. What the he’ll is a grease trap

  8. Ended up going out sunday morning and stayed between the launch and mandana.   We've always done well there in the past but not the past few trips out.   Got one laker right off the bat 60ft down over 130FOW and nothing after that.  How did you end up doing on the south end?

Ended up casting for pickerel and nabbed 2 , 1@22 in and 1 @ 28 in. Great fights.

  9. If....you were to go fishing for the day (Saturday/Sunday) and not target anything in particular, which lake would you go to? Skaneateles or Otisco. As I mentioned, just going to float around or troll for a while with the wife. Found a place or two at Skaneateles to spend the night, nothing at Otisco, maybe the campground, would need to call. Fish for bass a lot at Keuka, walleye at Oneida and panfish everywhere else. Just looking for a change for the wife. Probably can't keep anything since hotels don't have cleaning stations and no camps on the water. Just your thoughts.

Bass and pickerel fishing on SKN has been really good the last 2 weeks. Trolling has also been good.

  10. That’s great to hear that lake is finally turning on. It’s definitely a fun lake to fish with light tackle. Just out of curiosity what size was that flt spoon ? We’ve only ever had luck with the scorpion Michigan stingers our there

  11. Morning winds were outta sw at 5-8 mph.

Great spoon bite on the riggers down 50 to 80 over 90 to 140. Went 10 for 12 all on riggers. In 3 hours. We hit the bite window right

FLT AK 47 was the hot spoon.

All fish were typicals for skn, 15-19 inch range, but a few woke up and were a fun battle on the light rods.

Had 1 hit on the copper.

Dipsys and lead core were dead all day.

The wind stopped at 845 and the bite died right with it.

Also I bagged a 4 lb smallie on Tuesday.

    Happy 4th belated !

  12. Fished out of myers today. Was on the water at 830 and set up just north of the park. Before I could get all 6 rods out the first dipsey at 240 on a 1 with a spindoctors with white and pink fly fires brought a nice 7 lb lake trout to the boat. Fished with a buddy of mine who has never been and he was stoked. Continued up the east side of the lake doing quite well with lots of action. Best screens were 40 to 60 ft over all different depths. Riggers were slow to fire today and only cought 3 fish on them dipsey were on fire. Caught 16 fish for the day all a mixed bag of 6 to 8 lb lake trout with a couple of salmon. Salmon were all in the 2 to 5 lb range. Had a great time got soaked but still had fun. Stacked riggers from 60 ft up to 20 ft and ran 2 dipsey s at 210 to to 240 ft out. Had a good day. Good luck to all and tight lines.

  13. I would consider buying some Offshore Tackle Tadpole divers. Very simple to use, run them out the back of the boat. They will get your stick baits and spoons and harnesses down deep enough. I run them with 10 lb mono.

Flatlines do work. Gotta get it back 150-170. Often stick baits or smaller profile spoons on lead or copper are the ticket.

Number one dipsys far out with stickbaits sometimes get a grab from the silvers. 7-10 mph Wind seems to be the most important ingredient on this lake for silver bow action.
