Thinking that Barneys Spring derby will be in May but it's good to know the dates in advance...Zeke and Cyn
Yeah, this past spring, the spring derby was the May 19 weekend and a bunch of potential entrants were out fishing the FLTA tourney on Keuka. Would be great to possibly avoid that next year, but I know easier said than done with limited options in May.

With hopes of possibly avoiding tournaments occurring on the same weekends, and hopefully getting bigger turnouts each year for Barney & Bear's... here is a list of all the FLTA tournaments for 2019. I'm told the FLTA schedule has remained virtually the same for a dozen or more years. The month of May is tricky to schedule with Mother's Day (May 12) and the NLTD (Memorial Day weekend) in there. Anyway, just putting this info out there for Barney & Bear to hopefully see. I love fishing all of the tournaments, and I hope maybe the FLTA club putting their schedule out way in advance like this might be a helpful thing for overall scheduling and turnouts.

Was out today for a few hours out of T-Falls. Debris wasn't too bad... some weed mats here and there for sure, but that was about it and the fleas were almost gone. The bite was a little slower than it's been but everyday's different, a lot of dink salmon around, and picked up one 9.5 lb laker.

Hope the Cayuga Lou All happens again this year!?!?
Maybe Oct. 7th or 21st? Since there's an flta tournament Oct 14 on Canandaigua.
Apologies if it's too soon to bring it up. I guess summer closing out made me wish we still had another derby. Then I remembered this one. -

I'm interested. I'll send you a message. Thanks

Fleas? What fleas? Not a single one. Just please your boat clean of crap from other lakes before you launch so the lake stays clean.
I don't even bring my Ontario rig to Owasco , just so I don't bring in anything bad. It is great not to have to deal with gobies or lampreys. Zebra mussels are in it ,but quaqua mussels are not (yet). The small fingerlakes are becoming unique in their lack of invasive species. Please do not spoil them.
Great to hear. Yes, I always wash the boat prior to switching lakes. Appreciate the info.

Nice work. How are the fleas on Owasco?

2lbperch, sweet rig. May I ask what speed you're running that sutton lately?

Lowered price, $25 for 17 spoons shipped.

I got out yesterday for awhile. The lake level is higher than normal. And quite a bit of debris (tree branches, and weed mats) floating around. I did find some clearer areas and was able to troll ok. But I avoided high speeds with so many tree branches floating (some big, some small).

Thanks for the report. Most of the devastation is south of there. I wonder if the emergency crews are hauling debris out or if they're busy with other tasks. I bet a bunch of fisherman could help clear some major stuff out of there and maybe even recover some lost belongings. Here's a fb page a friend directed me to for anything lost or found... https://www.facebook.com/SenecaFloodLostAndFound/

Any idea if Sampson State Park launch is open?
-
I'm considering taking the boat out there in the next few days to drag any floating debris I can find back to shore. Just have to see which launches will be open. I'm thinking maybe Sampson or Watkins. Anyone have any input on whether this might be a good idea? Just want to help the lake.

Didn't know that. Thanks for the info, Gambler!

Yeah, both Seneca and Cayuga are gonna be huge mess this week. Campers, sheds, houseboats, and tremendous trees and debris were washed into Seneca today near Lodi and Valois.

Finger Lakes Tackle, as great as their spoons/paint job are, is out of business and they ripped off tons of people in the area, including myself. I'd recommend Great Lakes Lures and Honeybee spoons.

It's truly great to read all of these posts and learn about the history of the finger lakes. I greatly look forward to reading your book, Sk8man.
