  1. Fished Saturday, same deal as previous reports, fished out of Mexico toward the plant, 20-40 feet of water, riggers caught more than boards, caught 6 browns and a laker, saw a bunch of boats in tight fishing the high rocks. This one had a big bait fish stuck in his mouth, not sure how he hit the spoon without choking,lolScreenshot_20220515-223617.thumb.png.04cb68f39e9cbc1f455161961b37fd8d.png

  2. Look for.the colored water, if you find yourself in the gin clear water, chances are the bite will slow down. We caught fish just a half mile west from Mexico launch . Things lined up good last weekend with strong west winds for couple days then settled down and left good color and fish close to shore. Heck the Saturday before browns were slow and charters went for Lakers so you never know.

  3. 2 of us boxed out by 8:30 am, many browns in mexico bay today. Pickleseed, lances 2face led the bites. It was one of those days you always wait for and wish you took more people,,,lost a heavy brown just before netting as my 8-15lb test brand new riverside pole broke in half, never had that happen in 30 years of fishing. Haven't been bummed over losing a fish in a  long while,,,He was huge!

Ended going out of Mexico last Saturday. Didnt move a rod after 4 hours of trolling, lost 4 lures and packed up and left just in time to beat the rain that came in at 2. Pretty dissappointed.

Was slow last weekend, I found some good water north of Mexico launch, trolled forever before I got a few bites though, most charters switched to laker fishing,,,does anyone here know where they are catching the Lakers in mexico? And what depth?

you will find many of the browns have lampreys attached,  I'd say 50% of the browns caught this year have lampreys.   Some have 2 or 3 attahced.

It seems the lamprey treatments were cancelled during a few years of covid and we are now seeing the results.  They are all in the 6-8 inch length

and we'll see what the future will bring as they spread into the system.

Caught a couple browns out of Mexico on Saturday, on brown had 2 lampreys on it, Dec was there collecting information and asked how many browns I caught and asked if they had lampreys on it, so they are aware.

  6. Please Let us know where you fished and if you caught anything, I wanted to get out but may not get a chance. I’ve gone out in years past just flatline or weighted  spoons in front of SR, but only caught 2 steelhead and a couple skunk trips,,,, I know bill saiff posts good pike and walleye action in Henderson area every late fall.

Don't ya just love those guys Brian? If they had to fish Oswego for a year they'd have a change of opinion. The best part about those guys is all they have to do is go offshore and pick on the great Steelhead fishing and 2yr old Salmon.

There is not a great offshore 2 year old salmon fishing east,,,maybe some steelhead but nothing like out west,,,those salmon spend the whole year out west then when they are ready to spawn they swim to the east with lockjaw and black as night,, but we gotta big lake trout,,haha

Whew, that was a beauty!  I'll bet we had winds over 50. Saw a waterspout and we may have been hit by one too.  Lost a rod over the side but we go really lucky and recovered it.

Did everyone make it back to port OK?

Holy cow, you were out in the lake in that? How big a boat were you in? The rod wasn’t the only lucky thing to be recovered. At least 50 mile an hour winds. Hail too

Bugged out at noon today after getting soaked this morning. Looks like the action was out at the 100. Cruised the 70 for a couple hrs but got too sporty for me. Yesterday went 2 for 4 in 65 to 80. Managed to get 1 a piece for the weekend. Tough grind but had a great run.

Thanks for all your support guys. Shout out to all the folks who keep us safe and free!

One a piece for that weekend was pretty good in my opinion, I fished Saturday and Sunday morning and only boated one steelhead, not a lot of nets going in the water from my view and a ton of boats…talked to a few fisherman at Mexico launch and ones and twos seem to be the norm,,warm water to the bottom in the bay to about 80 feet didn’t help,,,hope no one was out on the lake on Monday when that storm blew about 50 mile an hour winds and hail, was a sight to see and bent my truck door backwards,,,crazy short storm and a boat flipper…

Any of you guys see me this week give me 3 toots on your horn and if you see me floating around please pick me up

I’ll be out of Mexico this weekend, I don’t have a horn but I’ll yell toot toot if I see you,,,I have a 24 foot wellcraft, all in good fun Mike, I still think you crazy and I wouldn’t go cliff jumping either, good luck this weekend. Let that salmon tow you into the river…

Anyone else troll strictly at night for chinooks?  Looking to give it a shot, and assumed you could troll just as if you were fishing in the daytime?  Glow spoons I would assume would make good baits.  Just looking for any general tips.  Thanks!

I’ve done some night trolling in front of the salmon river, glow spoons mostly, pull them out and give them a shot with a flashlight to charge them up every once in a while. Not as much fun as daytime in my opinion, I like to see more stuff. Went one time solo on the darkest night and felt like I was in the black abyss. But on the plus side, you probably will have just about the whole lake to yourself with the exception of maybe 1 or 2 boats especially during the week..😀

  12. I think that is the fish on motel charter in Pulaski and mike feumano, I thought he had a 42 footer that weighs like 16k pounds,,,he is a Superman at catching fish, not much web presence though but a great fisherman.
