The lighthouse dropoff is real bad, I launched there over the weekend and was inches away from scraping my boat on that concrete

We saw a boat in trouble yesterday, guys were putting on their life vests and waving to us. As we turned towards them to help, the boat capsized that fast and they were in the water and scrambling to climb on top of their now upside down center console. We scooped them up and managed to tie onto their boat. We called the coast guard and continued to tow the boat until we reached just south of the south dune. We had to cut her free when we got into about 7 feet when the Bimini started dragging and stuck on the bottom. I marked the coordinates so they could call a salvage company. We took them to their vehicle and they had to wait for the guys wife to bring the extra set of keys as his were locked in the capsized boat. They lost alot, but were grateful we were in the right place at the right time. The coast guard came after about a half hour and just stayed with us to monitor us towing his boat from 100ft depth to about 20, and had to turn around due to the shallow water. It felt good to hear the coat guard say that we seemed more than capable of towing them in, and we were happy to help them.

What happened to the boat? What reason did it sink?

We gave it a shot this morning...motored out to about 85 ft and set up. Lake kept building so I didn’t want to go deeper. Only lasted an hour or so and I called it. Had one chumming and it was getting nasty. Waves breaking over the bow of the tracker on the way in. Try again Tuesday.
Good job logger!
Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United mobile appMade it farther than me, I went to 50 feet then went back in and fished with worms,,,I have no tolerance for getting beat up like that,,,wish the wind would stop blowing on the weekends.,,,too bad they were biting good ,,,,oh well

Markin alot of fish together or were they scattered?
I thought they were scattered, until 100 feet I had 75 degrees to the bottom, everyone I spoke with had a slow day. This morning I only went out for an hour and got beat up, still had 2 to 4 footers left over from advisory the night before. I think I only saw 2 boats this morning and maybe 6 tonight, so that explains not many reports. Or they all out real deep. Tonight was dead flat though.

Not much to report out in front of the dunes, temp down 110 feet, real slow fishing and only a handful of boats out today

What a blow last night, 40 + mile an hour winds, every year I like to take a charter trip to fine tune my game and today was the day, Well needless to say with 10 foot waves it was canceled. I was afraid to be near a tree last night never mind the water, hopefully calms and no thunderstorms to follow for this week.

Wanted to ask how many of you guys use scents on your spoons and flashers.. Most of the time I use scent on my lures, I think its lunker lotion,,,but have a couple different kinds... last week I went through a couple trips with little to no bites,,,,next trip out I didn't use any scents and got a bunch of bites...any thoughts?

I fished a little shallower off the north dunes Friday morning, 80-95 feet of water, great marks and caught a couple salmon then went in, trolled north because south winds, most if not all boats out deeper... Don't be afraid to check shallow, that's my rule. I usually only fish a couple hours anyway when I go in because kids get up and want to go tubing.

Real good marks around 100 feet over 135, had some issues so only fished for an hour and had one on,,,good reports of fish and marks showed up good and was encouraging. Stopping at fish cleaning station and seeing salmon cleaned was encouraging also

Went out from 6:30 PM - 8:00 for a quick troll. Set up in 160 and trolled north to 220. Surface 65, temp down 100 was 59 the whole time, only saw a few marks. Picked up a steelhead on a 4 color with a DW blue jaguar and lake O claimed my offshore board before i could pick up my 6 rod set up and turn around to find it. Rainbow pulled it under and popped the board off. Enjoy the board if you find it! Trolling 2.2-3.0 and the current was ripping down at 100. If you are looking for cold water and kings, i suggest you take a ride out deep > 250, good luck
Just out of curiosity, what was the speed at the ball compared to your top trolling speed? With that ripping current,,, I am looking at biting the bullet and buying a fishhawk

We catch a few of those bowfin in north and south sandy pond every year,,,,after a while your bummed its not a walleye on the end of your hook, but fun to reel in none the less....

I haven’t used mags in a while. They’re very much so overkill to me. I use the regular ones with my wire rods
I don't think you can get a standard #1 dipsey down 100 feet, can you? I sent a fish hawk TD down on my wire line and could not get 100 foot depth.

What is the finger? Is it structure to get snagged on? I was going up there tomorrow to try to find Lakers and wanted some advice on where to go.

Why does it seem the salmon fishing is always better in the western part of the lake (olcott,Wilson, oak) rather than Mexico, or Oswego? Do those fish migrate to spawn to the eastern end? Or do they spawn out west? I always thought the most fish spawned in the salmon river and Oswego river. Heck, charters in the east are posting pics of Lakers this late in the season and west is still limiting out on salmon.. just look at the Loc derby results,,,,I think I’m ready to shift from Mexico point to the west…sorry for the rant but just wondering…
