  1. I'll be fishing out of Olcott Friday evening thru Monday afternoon. If anyone is interested in networking and sharing info out on the water reply to this post and I'll message you my cell number. We can cover more water to find fish by working together and sharing info. Hope others on here agree.
  2. The 12 fish on was great, what I meant by abysmal was only landing 6. Lol...
  3. Fished this morning out in front of the power plant in 110-180fow. Went an abysmal 6 for 12. Had 3 bites on spoons, 1 on FF and 8 on meat. All of the fish we lost were on meat. Not sure what the issue was. Of the six we landed the biggest was only 10lbs. Just couldn't find any big fish. I did have 2 guys with me that had never fished for salmon before so it was nice getting them both their first kings, even if they weren't very big. Coming back to Olcott next weekend so I hope some bigger fish will be in the area.
  4. Heading up to Wilson the next 2 weekends and am looking for guys to network with and share info. Anyone interested in working together please message me and I'll give you my contact information. Thanks...
  5. Some guys tell me they use a black light to charge their glow flashers, flies, spoons etc. Before they put them down and some tell me its not really necessary. I'm confused. What are your thoughts on charging your glow baits and Why? Thanks in advance for any comments!
  6. Because of the cold NE wind yesterday I decided to head west in search of a little warmer water. Fished between Wilson and the bar in 290 to 340 fow. Went 8 for 10 with 4 coho, 3 steelhead and 1 18lb king. Coho and steelhead came on FF and king on a dream weaver black and orange alewife spoon.
  7. Awesome! I'm on the road now, be at the marina in a few hours. Gonna fish for a few hours this evening. Will post if we find fish. 🐟
  8. Glad to see the fish starting to become more active. I'm coming up tomorrow to fish until Sunday around noon. My boat will be in dock #2 all weekend. Stop by if you'd like a cold beverage. I owe you one for providing all the info this week. Lol...
  9. Thank you! I'm glad this forum is full of good sportsmen like you that are willing to share info.
  10. Congratulations on a great day! I'm coming up from Western Pa this weekend so without getting too specific would you be willing to share whether you were east or west of the marina? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
  11. If anyone is interested in fishing out of Olcott on Monday from sun up until noon or 1pm please respond as soon as possible. I have a 27ft Pro-Line walk-around and am looking for one or two guys to go out.
  12. I've never used a wire diver setup and am looking for some advice. Does anyone use 19 strand wire instead of 7 strand? Why or why not? Do you have to use a swivel tip rod? I'd like to set up a couple of wire diver rods but don't want to break the bank. I fish out of Olcott maybe 3 or 4 weekends a year. Am more interested in what guys are actually using than just what tackle manufacturers say i should have. Thanks for any and all input!
  13. Heading out of Olcott tomorrow, Friday and Saturday. First trip of the year. Can't wait to get on the water. Message me if anyone wants to work together on finding fish.
  14. Sorry to hear about the boat trouble. Thanks for the report. Coming up to Olcott on the 21st for the first time this spring. I've certainly got king fever..
  15. What's the word up there in Olcott about out of state anglers? I live in Pa and I'm wondering if we are permitted to travel up there and launch??
  16. I know. I should have gone with my gut and headed west right off the bat.
  17. My buddy and I are coming up to Olcott tomorrow afternoon and will be fishing until Sunday afternoon. I prefer to fish with at least 3 to set lines, net fish, bring in fish etc. So I have room on my boat for 1 person. I have a 27ft Pro-Line walk around. If anyone is interested in going send me a message.
  18. Seems like the fish are moving a little deeper. I'll be back up this Friday. If you're there let me know and we can communicate and share info.
  19. We had 8 hookups by 9am just west of Olcott in 90 to 110 fow then the fish just disappeared. Was thinking they might have gone to deeper water but I was having a little engine trouble and didn't want to get too far from the marina. Carbon 14 took 3 fish early before the sun got higher in the sky and we got 3 off of a meat rig set on the downrigger at 65ft. Here are a few pics. Check out the little guy that hit a spoon as big as he is. Lol
  20. I'll be out this morning. Plan on fishing till around 1. Going to try between Olcott and Wilson.
  21. Yeah, we rode it out. Spent the day between the tower and the power plant. 85 to 105fow. We boated 10 kings and lost 4. A lot of small ones, only kept 4.
  22. I'm coming up to Olcott/Newfane marina tomorrow afternoon and fishing until Sunday afternoon. I just want to throw this out there. I'm looking for some guys who might want to communicate during those days on the water. I think I'm the perfect partner, lol. I don't enter tournaments, I don't eat salmon so I only keep a few for friends that request some. It's a big lake and its difficult to cover by yourself. Especially when you only get out 3 or 4 weekends a year. I have no problem letting someone know where I am, what I'm seeing on my graph and what I'm catching during the day. I'm looking to team up with some guys who feel the same way. Let me know by responding here. Thanks...
  23. I fished out of Olcott this weekend. Saturday we fished from the power plant east all day from 35fow out. I even ran out to 400fow just for the heck of it, had a nice king on right away out there but lost it 15ft from the side of the boat. Sunday got a tip to try the bar so we ran down there. I have never seen so many huge bait balls in my life!! All morning my screen was covered in bait with nice arcs all around. 110 to 130fow had 3 quick hookups and then things just shut down. Managed a nice Laker at about 1:30 PM but that was it. All total in 2 days we could only muster 4 kings, 1 lake trout and 5 misses. I'll be back up next weekend to try again. I'm still learning this craft as this is only my 2nd year fishing for salmon but I am addicted. What a rush when that rod goes off!! I'll just keep trying, learning from successes and mistakes. The experience is what it's all about...
