  1. spooncrank-box.png.3c275138fa50e08190aa146e75f0e7f6.pngCheck out the SpoonCrank Box which will be available at the Niagara Fishing Expo. It can be a spoon box with a capacity of 90 magnum and/or regular spoons, a crankbait box with a capacity of 50 lures or a combination of spoons and crankbaits by using insertable partitions. Its compact size makes it a perfect fit for the small boat fisherman. Imagine all your go-to-lures in an easy to store and retrieve tackle box. Extra storage in the cover.

  2. I love running both the Lowrance & Humminbird side by side. The Lowrance HDS Gen 3 and newer units are more user friendly than the older units. With the Gen 3 and newer units, I just plug in the all in one ducer and that's it, just like Humminbird.
That makes a lot more sense. I figured that Lowrance rushed to market with the first one they could come up with

  3. I've heard about the high speed ducer, but I also run a Lowrance HDS9 Gen3 unit a TotalScan ducer, so both units do SI, DI, GPS. My Helix 10 is the Mega + SI, DI, GPS G3N.
Do you have good luck with Lowrance. I've used them since paper graphs in the early 1980's. Last two I had needed to be fixed and they told me they had no parts because they don't make them. Offered me a 100 off on a new one. To me that's not a reason to stay. Especially with the price of the new units. Right about that time a friend of mine bought a hds gen 2 I believe and to get side and down imaging he had to buy all kinds of extras. Went to hummingbird and so far so good. Fingers crossed

  4. That's awesome. When I bought the helix's I kept fishing until it was time to hunt. I have them installed and etherneted together and saw them fire up. Last unit was an 1199 that I loved but the g3 units look to be so much better. Did you know that you can buy a high speed transducer for them and when installed the unit automatically chooses the transducer. High speed transducer is only down imaging but I think it was only fifty bucks I figured what's another fifty

  5. I've only used it once or twice at the end if the 2019 season, but you can see the contours on your fish finder as you are fishing.

  6. A whole lot of things here that are valid considerations but probably the most important is how the particular weapon feels in your hands as is important in selecting handguns. The other issues mentioned can be whittled down to your purpose but using an uncomfortable firearm affects everything from satisfaction to accuracy and should be a main consideration regardless of caliber or model selection or ballistics.
    Amen

  7. Some people will boycott a company who chooses to not sell an ar15 to a high school student. Some won't. The chips will fall where they may
I have shopped at feild and stream in Erie pa and their spiel is that dick's was going golf and baseball and that and they would be the hunt and fish. It's strange tho how when there is a shooting multiple places remove guns and when the media frenzy stops one by one they bring guns back. People and business need to get backbone's

  8. Recoil is a huge factor if you intend to practice much or want to see the bullet impact. Nearly everyone is affected sub consciously by anticipated recoil. You may not feel the recoil shooting at game, but your mind knows what is coming! Practicing with good ear protection helps fight this, but recoil affects shooting ablility. Does this matter much unless you are shooting at longer ranges...not in most cases on deer sized game and up.

I've used 3006 for years but like Tracy said you can ruin alot of meat. I went down to 140 grain tripleshock handloads and solved that problem. My wife uses 243 and that works great.

  9. Its really is a one stop shop, I even learned what window blinds shades suit me the most today on here. But really besides that and Tompeter this whole site is fantastic, I wish Lake Erie United had a little more going on over there as it is my home base. Great group of people on here Merry Christmas!
It is a very good experience to buy and sell on here. I have a few people that I've bought multiple things from at different times . I look on here the first thing in the morning and check multiple times during the day. I also wish that lake Erie United would catch up. Merry Christmas to all and I still want more gear so sell sell sell

  10. Large beetle spin.  Docks and weed edges.  No leader needed if you hooking them in the lip.  $2 lure.  Catches more than just pike too.

I also like perch color spinner bait with willow leaves and trailer a gulp alive in fire tiger color.  Again - no leader.
Let's not forget about the Johnson's silver minnow spoon. After reading all of this I have decided where 2020 vacation will be. Haven't been to Eel bay since1986 and 1987. Is it still called a vacation when you are retired

  11. You're

I have the originals not the pro flex. They have worked fine for years I have changed the battery in the remote once.  That is it, and I use them in uninsulated lacrosse burlys and my feet stay warm all the time.  The two things that normally cause problems are not knowing how to properly take care of a rechargeable battery(the batteries on mine are not removable), and using them in boots that are too tight.  The insoles do take up a little space so I couldnt just put them in any hunting boot.  When these crap out I will definitely buy a set of the newer ones without question.
You're right on all points. A friend of mine has a son who has been involved with a few of the outdoor shows based out of the north east u.s. he said that what the manufacturer said was the lack of knowledge for battery maintenance. I have a pair of heated socks made by Flambeau that are pretty good but I have to turn them on and off for the full day coverage. The batteries are lithium ion and have a light to tell you when charged. I can remember a few times putting something on the charger and finding it days later. That can't be helpful
