How do I start?

Yes oswego is a much closer ride for deep water. Things change day to day. Keep an eye on the reports and make ur decision the day before. Its like when deciding to fish the lake. U watch the weather, everything is good and make plans, thEn the day before u go, it changes and blows 20knot out of the west. Lol -

Lol. Good stuff! While ice fishing I swear I dont catch fish until I spit my chew down the hole. Well It dont work on Lake O. So now the wife swears its everytime her or I have to drop a bomb in the bathroom. Seems when one of us is behind a closed door a rod fires! So yesterday i spent alot of time in the crapper and even closed cuddy door so I’m behind two closed doors. It didnt work Maybe I’ll bring a handfull of quarters this weekend!

2nd what sk8man said. Also think of all the eyes that opened up becouse of ur accident. I brought someone new yesterday on my boat. 1st thing I did was pull lif jackets out of cuddy And put them under captains chair. Bein it was rough I drilled him with the first thing he should do should I maybe go overboard while reachin out to hook riggers. Throw multiple life jackets, disengage AP while droppin to neutral. Scary to think about thou. Also just got my pups there lifejackets Today so they have a fighting chance As well.

I was out of mexico yesterday and it was a tough day. Didnt move a rod. I have a probe and couldn’t find temp down 140ft in 160fow. If i was fishing tomarrow I would drop meat rig at 100ft on rigger and setup in160fow of water and keep trolling into deeper water. From there I would adjust my depths to the marks. Its a long haul to that kinda depth out of mexico. 8ish miles probly. Maybe Oswego is a better choice after what I seen yesterday temp wise in mexico. theres a small craft advisory for today and tonight. That means with west blow temp is probly gonna out even further. Just my 2cents -

Absolutely it helps. I appreciate the wisdom. There was a good amount of bait and fish in 120 on the bottom but i dont think there staging yet. So I had the right idea headin deep and out the bay but weather prevented me from goin any further. Guess the best thing to do Saturday morning is to stop at 120 fow. Drop the probe. 160 drop probe. And further if need be. -
So after 5years or so of bein around i got a good idea of riggin, setting a spread, and what to use and when to use. Now its time to learn more of the lake and Temp. So my understanding of the lake flipping is a heavy blow pushes warm water off shore and down therefore movin the cold water out. Am I somewhat right? out of mexico Yesterday i couldnt get colder then 60degree water above 140ft. Wanted to get offshore further but with The storm brewing didnt want to venture to far in case it got real bad. When lake is like this Do the fish scatter out deep? And today is another west blast with small craft advisory. Any thoughts on what that’s gonna do for fishing this weekend? Push fish out even deeper? I really hope I dont have to go out 20miles Saturday to get a bite. Lol. Any thoughts or imput would be greatly appreciated

Mexico fishing report

Yea. 6:30am rods out. 120fow A lil north of big river. some feller was on a small boat fishing little salmon river next to My boat in the slip. He said he Knows guys gettin salmon out of the river last week. Sounds ubsurd to me. So before I moved out deep ,for ****s and giggles ,i ran in to 60Fow in front of river and putted around to see if fish were stackin up. Didnt see any marks from 100fow to 60fow. Then I picked up and ran to 160fow and was markin fish here and there. unless I hear any reports before Saturday, I’m thinkin Saturday morning setting up in 180FOW and runnin out deeper and stayin in Temp. The last two years fishin was great. Definitely spoiled me. -

Sorry for not reporting while I was out. Forgot my phone charger and phone died. well just when u think ya got something started and somewhat figured out. Lady “O” hits ya with a lesson on bein humble!!! got my first Ever skunk on the lake. Got some serious figureing out to do for the weekend. Started in 120fow of water just north of big river and screen was loaded with fish. I threw everything at them. All colors of FF spoons and some J-plugs. But no meat. I had 4 packs in the freeze and when I used them they fell right apart!! Couldnt get them even on the hook. Dunno what the hell happened Temps are screwed up. I had 70 at the ball down to 120. So i just fished the marks in the 100range. I had 3 pop offs all day. So lookin for better water I went west and got to 160fow and temp was 60 at 110 so the further off shore i went the better temp wise. But with the southeast wind at 15knot it was gettin rough so spun around and trolled back to port. it was a rough day but the rain held off till i just got off at 11:30. I accomplished my goal thou. I’m on my way home with my trailer. It was the reason I came up. Lol -

Not tryin to rub it in , but yea maybe i am lol. Just left my boat. Pulled out all the rods and rigged them and set them in the rocket launcher. Ready to roll at first light. Thanks Logger. This thread got my up here for an overnight trip. I’ll start a thread in the morning and post my trip. Lake was beautiful at 8:00pm. Almost went out for a night bite, but takes to time to get the ready. -

Logger is absolutely right. The week u will be there start right in front of river. When u come out the river head northwest till u hit 80FOW. Or follow the crowd. Thats what I’ve done for years. The boats will show u where the fish are most of the time. Spoons/FF/meat and even a J-plug in the spread will get the job done. Last year was a crazy meat bite for the pre spawn fish stackin up. -
