we shall see. whats open today will eventually be closed tomorrow.....
Yes, this. My guess is the state hasn’t deployed people yet to the launches that are still open. I remember last year launching my boat, and coming back to the launch and the state had put a barrier up that blocked the launch so I had to move it to make room for my truck haha

offshore iv,i sure hope I get to shake your hand some day!!!!!!!!you are 100 % right and im glad you can see through the smoke and mirrors of the gloom and doom news media and the absurd non-sense this moron Cuomo is doing to this state.OFFSHORE IV FOR GOVERNOR!!!!!!
Lol I’ve actually considered politics but I’d be in over my head. This whole thing reminds me of when cuomo instilled the “you can have 10 round magazines in your handguns but you can only have 7 bullets in them” type of crap. Maybe his policies do well for NYC, but he is not in touch with upstate NY.

He’s doing everything he can do, so when they realize they over predicted the death toll and everything else, he will be able to say, “see I saved NY, with everything I did”

I’ll take your Browns haha nice pics!

Even if there was a legitimate reason to close the launches, NYS is a day late n a dollar short. According to cuomo the curve is flattening. So obviously boat launches weren’t the culprit. I disapprove of him 100%. He’s doing something just to do something. 🤬🤬🤬

Is Sandy open ?
Was going to dump my small boat tommorow .
I’m going to check Mexico point today and report back, if that’s any help... quite frankly when my gf told me all launches are closed, I told her it is due to the high winds and predicted wave forecast...

This is rediculous! When I go to the launch I'm not exactly there to get all up in the other fisherman's space.
I can wait until the next guy is done at the dock before using it. Not a problem to keep my distance. Nanny state because I guess we can't police ourselves. Only person more annoyed than me is me wife because now she has to live with a frustrated fisherman. Don't misunderstand, I'm lucky that this is my biggest issue right now - but c'mon now. Guess I'll join the guys on the pier again.
This is straight up the biggest overreaction in the history of the US.
So far, just under 17,000 US deaths. There are 70,000 US deaths per year from overdosing, with a world wide death rate of 585,000 people in 2018, where’s the uproar??? I can name 10 more causes of more death in the US. Totally get that it sucks that some are dying. But did anyone see the article that says if you die (from whatever) and your autopsy shows you had covid 19, then your death cert will show you died from covid 19. So if I crash my motorcycle, die, test positive for covid 19, according to the CDC I died from covid 19. If you wanna keep your distance, I don’t hate you. But I’m not naive enough for this crap.

Well my brother and I started at 7am went to about 5pm. Always a fun time. Fishing was slow. Went from a south to a North wind.
Went one for three. One small brown. The exciting part of the day was my brother hooked up with a king and fought it for a good five minutes (25ft of water on a white bayrat) until the hook bent off.
Unfortunately it didn't land in the net but we needed the action at that point. I also hooked up with a nice fish on two color 100 feet straight back on a pink and blue spoon. That also got off.
I've been putting lots of time in the last week. From Braddocks to Hedges. Very slow.
I'm gonna sit on the sidelines for a while until better water sets up or I see everyone on the LOU holding up big browns. Plus my back is killing me. I think I'm getting old.
Good luck out there.
Tim

I don’t fish your way as I fish catfish creek area but like someone else has said, either you get a ton or you get none. You’re not the only one. If you’re getting even a couple hits you’re doing it right, maybe just need to go to a different area. Like you said, it’s always fun!

Same... I shoulda filleted the bastard.
Is there any law regarding gobys and if you can keep them? What about the eel? Not that I’d want to keep it but I’m not aware of a law that says I gotta put it back. For possible legal purposes, I actually did put him back. Just not exactly how I found him haha

I haven't done that, but trolling the same water last Sunday I cleared a board rod to find a 7" goby that had eaten a Michigan Stinger I had been dragging around for who knows how long... that was a first for me.
I didn’t know gobys got that big, I thought they were like a 5” max type of fish

Finally got my gf out. Started at 2, came back in at 7. Bright sunshine until 3:30, crystal clear water everywhere we went so I didn’t expect much. Went 2/3, both around 18”. We would have been better off fishing between the launch and catfish creek, which I call no mans land. Much more marks there. 25’, one on a rigger, other two on boards. Took this interesting pic. Anyone else ever have this happen? The darn thing tried latching onto my caddyshack lol I have a good video of it but I can’t upload it here. That’s a lamprey eel, he hooked himself haha

Nice fish! It’s interesting how some people prefer in lines or the mast type boards. I’ve used both and prefer in lines but both have their positives and negatives.

This seems very simple. If you live in PA stay in Pa. and that goes for any other states. This virus is spread by people moving it from place to place. Stay home The government is being forced to make all the rules and closures because selfish people just don’t get it.

correct but that doesnt mean one should drive to Oswego with his three buddies from NW NJ and fish all weekend long. that is really intended for SOLITARY use by locals or people within close driving like syracuse etc....People are being asked to stay home. To try and "Skin the cat" is not going to help the situation. Fish from shore by yourself or if you have a small craft and can go by yourself is one thing. People need to respect other peoples back yards for right now. I cant say it any simpler than that. And that is exactly why the mayor closed wrights landing....to keep people away...
My father and I intend to go Sunday. I do not see Harm in that.

Yeah but Wright's will be closed until the middle of July.
Really??? Where is that stated??

You’ll be fine. I spoke to two sheriffs at the launch and they really didn’t care.

I sure hope the charter captains get a life line out of this stimulus bill. Can't see how a charter boat would be considered essential business. Although Cuomo is allowing golf courses to open. We had a vacation in May scheduled for Tennessee. The hotel called us and said that they were closing we will have to reschedule our vacation. We were already thinking about cancelling any ways. Hope people just use common sense........I know that's asking a lot now a days.
Most of the charter captains I know don’t charter full time, so that should help a bit. I don’t think it would be right to forbid chartering to locals (50 mile range maybe) but I’d agree that no out of staters or NYC folks be allowed to travel up here for fishing trips. My $.02.

There was a cold front that rolled through early Friday morning that I knew was gonna make the fishing tough. Around me, no one was catching fish. Can’t win em all!!!

I have been quarantined in my house with my family for 2 weeks. We are all healthy. My boat is in the water. I have a kicker as well in case my main motor broke down. So I have been going out fishing on the lake this week when it's calm and have been staying close. My kids go with me. I'm using common sense and it has been the one shining light in this strange time.
I go from house to car to boat. Then boat to car to house. I see no one. I don't get near another human. It's working for me.

Boat launches closed

I think the order is definitely not fake news. The ideology behind it, however, is the fake news. The idea of covid 19 spreading like a wildfire at boat launches is an utter lack of common sense. I’ve been launching a Mexico point probably 10 times already this year and have not gotten within even 10’ of a stranger. The actual numbers that came from Italy (I haven’t seen any from the US yet) state that 48.1% of people dead from covid 19 had 3 or more underlying conditions. If you had no underlying conditions, guess what the death rate is? .08%. I’m a 29 year old male in excellent health. Zero reason for me not to be able to launch my boat. If this continues into salmon season, I’ll find a way to drop my 19’ boat in at the damn bridge.
