I love my Fish Hawk and have used them for a very long time. When my son and I purchased our current boat we purchased a new X4 and this would have been our third year using it.
Saturday I used the probe for the first time this year and the unit showed 3.8 degrees down temp. Other than that it was functional. When I got home I went to their website and that very condition was number 2 on the troubleshooting list. Bad temp sensor, no remedy, buy a new one.
I contacted Fish Hawk and they did give me 25% off but I can’t help think that if it’s a common product defect that they should have done more. I ordered the new probe this morning.  Am I being unreasonable?

Exact same thing happened to me twice in 4 years. Both times they gave me the discount. The fella on the phone said to avoid storing them in direct sun light. The refraction of the sun heats up the internals and fries the thyristor.

But yes, it seems a problem this prolific needs to be addressed somehow...like maybe not making the body transparent perhaps?

  2. Anyone know where I can find an extention cord for a cannon mag 10? Based on my battery location and in hull tubing I need an extention cord to go between the rigger and battery ends about 4 feet long. I made my own with 10 gage wire and covered with a corrugated tube,  but I'd Ike to get something that is a bit more waterproof and looks a little less redneck engineered.

    Thanks

    Dave

  3. I fished lake superior for lake trout a couple months ago. The food quality of the lakers in superior is far better than onatrio. I guess the colder water and food sources makes all the difference.  We caught steelhead and lakers and could not tell the difference in color or taste of meat.

That being said, I believe smoked lake trout is as good as any other smoked lake fish coming out of lake ontario.

  4. Left at 330 straight to 200. Blankety blank blank screens. 50 degrees was down 50ft. Moved headed NE, nadda. Moved in to 115...holy crap.

400 copper with a 11in silver paddle and meat head takes a rip, dipsey out 220 with green meat takes a rip. Get those rest and 300Cu with C14 gets a 20 pounder. Green meat gets smasked and I lost the whole rig behind my snubber.

400 copper has a flounder pounder mag RV, takes a hit, 45 pound braid backing breaks. So...if anyone catches my copper line I just want the spoon back.

Rigger at 65 with raspberry carbon gets a teenager.

A great night, cant wait for tomorrow.

    Lake flipped last night.

Little bit rough this morning, dropped in at 250, no hits until the 29 line. ,one Skippy 2 matures about 19 pounds.

No spoon bite for me, gold 42nd took a hit but no takers.

Meat on a 300 weighted steel took 2 kings,

Warhammer glow meat rig took the other mature on the 100 DR

A bam fly with a 2 faced pro troll went on a 240 dipsy, mature broke the leader.

Didn't really see any bait until about the 29 line either..

So hold back the laughter, but what is the 29 line? Thanks for the help.

  6. Took a buddy of mine out today after his cancer treatment to get him thinking about something other than his condition. On the water at 430, got to 120 feet saw a constant stream of marks at 80 and set up. 300 copper with mag carbon 14 gets a 12 pound brown. Green meat rig on fat Nancy flasher out 160 take a good run. Black meat rig on fat Nancy out 180 gets a solid hit...saw on my go fosh cam....so awseome.

300 copper goes again, 20 pound king on the deck. Raspberry carbon on rigger down 60 gets a 12 pounder.

Temp was 58F down 70 in 120. As soon as I got outside 124 feet blank screens. Moved back into 120 feet the screens light up. Alot of fosh were high around 30 feet all afternoon. I tried to stack my riggers...I got alot to learn there...big mess.

    Back at it tomorrow.
