I went through a very similar experience, starting with my 19' Key West center console. Had a couple spooky experiences with it, moved up to 23' Cuddy. Way safer but same challenges! I'm back to the Key West last two years, you have it figured out i think. It wont matter which boat really, its all about the waves! One boat maybe a little better than another but it wont matter. The waves will let you know what days you can fish!

Greeted with the wind really blowing, like double the Windfinder Max prediction and once you reached about 100' of water(South wind) it was rocking pretty good. Lots of boats 100 to 150. Solo, so one rigger down only, with fixed cheater. Out to 150, turned back and at about 110 both spoons got hit. Small king on bottom spoon and medium brown on top.Green Jeans and Mag Hulk on top. It got a little calmer so started out again got to 165 and had gotten one wire dipsy out with Brads Super Plug, back 300,took a hit, 15# King. U turned back back and at 145 meat gets hit and takes mid teens laker. Then it calmed nicely, headed back noeth and at about 160 again Brads plug got crushed, after a pretty good run, leader between diver and board snaps! So 5 hookups, 4 landed. Just couldn't get out to where i thought the kings likely were. Never got the temp probe down, to rough. So fished 85 to 125 depth. Its not the "Oak", but it was a solid morning. Good luck

Great report, Thanks! And you confirmed my results on two of my favorite Moonshine spoons that i haven't caught a fish on either that have been incredible the last couple years too

Finally was able to get my grandson out for his first Salmon Hunt yesterday. We started a little late, travel etc so first lines in at 7:45 am, 200ish. Dropped spoon down to 90 and before i got second rod set fish on! So my man has his first king battle and we land the fish. First hour was hot, couldn't keep rods set, then just stopped. Did have a good fish at noon when pulling rods, great day with my grandson and son in law.

It was a nice morning! I saw a couple boats out there and figured it was good too, i thought it might be guys targeting steelhead because of the Derby. That bay thing is an annual event coordinated somehow on social media, always on a Wednesday unannounced. Its a pain getting out everytime, it never ceases to amaze me that folks with boats and pwc can be clueless at the launch. The next couple weeks should be awesone, hopefully with less flea problems

Weather forecast was exact today so straight out to 200 feet. Temp was good down 80, so set some stuff in tge range and 230 wire diver fires and runs through rigger rod set. That trips and bye bye fishy. Reset, at 285 outside diver goes with a screamer, grab rod and the center diver goes hard, so double. 55 minutes later both matures in the boat, took a little time made a circle and covered that spot again, another mature on the wire. And i was solo and whipped, so back to port. Its always something.... I have never seen the flea so bad! If you could keep a clean set, it was going to get hit, but the constant cleaning lines was brutal. Good luck IMG_20260708_153126.heic
