  1. Gander mountain has it. I have heard it isnt as good as the real thing. There are some other imitation cut bait strips out now that I saw on GLA. You may want to look into that too if your looking for a substitute.

  2. Yes it is. Like I said I have two of them that way.

Im not saying its the best, but thats the way they do it in the bass boat industry, or at least the top of the line manufacturers. If I were to buy a brand new furuno u bet Im having a marina drill the holl in my trolling boat and mounting a true thru hull.

  3. So what you have is a Shoot-Thru Hull transducer on your bass boat YT?

Yup, I have two of them. One for my digital lowrance flasher and another for my lowrance fishfinder. You epoxy it center of boat near the rear in the bildge area. Like I said I can keep bottom up to 65mph (except for when i jump a wave). It marks fish too, but I only really loo at this when im idoling.

Bass boats use this becasue at the speeds they travel and the amount of boat that is inthe water when trimmed out anything that an offset the boat can create a chine walk or the boat not to handle and hard to drive.

  4. A true thru hull transducer requires you to cut the hole into your hull. Basically if you laid under your boat on the trailer or at dry dock you could see it. I used epoxy to secure my lowrance thru hull trasnducer to the bottom of my bass boat without cutting any holes and i can keep reading bottom unitl i go over 65mph. I got the 2 part epoxy from autozone i think.

  5. 57deg down to 42 .also as i fish the western end of the lake i pull the probe after finding down temp and speed. unless the lake is recovering from a blow .things dont change that much for me ill drop er back down a couple times a day if needed.or every time i slide out to new water .WHY Ray.lets me tell ya i feel everything ya got out pinging and ponging(fish hawk) sonar and the such kinda smartens them older fish ,but i also wear tin foil hat and catch fish when on the radio and cell phone ............gotta go boss is tapping her foot ...........................

I dont want to tell a "seasoned" guy like you how to fish, but that niagara outflow can change currents pretty fast. Its crucial to keep that probe in the water on the west side becasue of this. Your lures down might be going to slow.

  6. A captains license is only good on navigatable waters. So Conesus and Honeyoye for example would require a guides license. And if by chance you do choose one of those two you also have to get an additional permit from the state which is another test. If you wanted to do trips on a stream, or ice fishing, or on lakes like canandaigua or Seneca you would need a just a guides license.

  7. 2 spoons? YEAH RIGHT! Would you really go out with 2 spoons? Id rather watch roland martin whale back on a 12in bass before I hit the water with 2 spoons.

Mulatto would be a main stay, but the other would be betweena coyote and a copper NBK. One to cover the morning bite and the other for the rest of the day.

  8. What kind of boat do you have? If its a hard top then its easy, but if its not you would need a radar arch. My old man built one for our penn yan we used to have. There are many places, mostly independent, that can do the custom work for you. I know this has been discussed a lot on the Great Lakes Angler board. Let us know and get some pics of the boat for us and Im sure we can help.

  9. It all depends on what you want to spend.

If you stick with Daiwa you can get by fairly cheap with a great set-up. For rods you have 2 choices. Heartlands and the new wilderness rod. I think they run $30 and $20 respectively. AS for reels you have the sealines and the accudepth plus, and they run 100 and 40 bucks respectively. If you took the cheaper of each above you can get into a nice set up for well under 100 bucks. As for the wire there are many companies with Malin and Mason being the most popular and available. Make sure you get 1000' spool.
