  1. Most of the major manufacturers websites will have the users manuals available for download in PDF format. I downloaded a number of them and reviewed all the features available, along with ease of use. Some are very user friendly, others make you jump through a number of screens or menus to make an adjustment.

I found the Funuro 620 with an Airmar P66 transducer to be in my price range, easy to use, and a good fit for an aluminum trailer boat.

Here's a review of the unit

  2. Capt. Paul, you are correct.... as I recall, the old unit I used was an 8008, not 8002. The 8008 had a nice CRT fish finder as well as Loran..... thinking he could still use the FF part.

  3. zackblain, I'm one of the few old school guys who stack 2 rods on a single rigger on a regular basis, and I use Blacks releases.

First thing, I have a piece of plainer board line about a foot long, tie a loop on each end, half hitch one end on the 'rigger boom ,then snap the Blacks stacker in the other loop while the ball is up out of the water. You can set the lower release and lower the ball down...... the stacker will stay high and dry as the cable slides through it. See picture below.

You can lock the stacker to the cable with square tooth picks, pushing the tooth pick in from the TOP, then break off the extra. Pinning from the top will allow the the release to free itself when you retrieve the ball, the release will hit the rigger pulley and stop, the cable will pull the tooth pick out of the release hole as it continues to spool up on the rigger. ..... this is the old way.

I now use Scotty auto stop beads to set my stacker. I have a stop bead on the rigger cable 10ft. above the ball. Stacker release rides the cable between the lower release and the stop bead. Set up as above, but no tooth pick. The bend in the rod and the water pressure of moving forward keeps the release tight against the bottom of the stop bead. Once tripped, the release slides down the cable to the ball. You could put the stop bead any distance from the ball I suppose... I do use my beads as a true "auto stop" with my riggers, so a 10 ft. spread works for me.

    Just my $.02

  4. The model I am selling is for a Mossberg 500 12ga. shotgun. part # KLT01. I ran about a dozen rounds through the gun with this stock on. I like this stock a lot, but have decided to order the traditional style version. I shoot left handed and have small hands and the pistol grip makes it harder for me to reach the slide release. A right handed shot, or someone with larger hands is a better fit for this stock.

Paid $110, Selling for $80. I will pay shipping to a US address.

  5. I run both. Like any other lure, on some days one works a bit better than the other.... I'm old school, so it's dodger / squid (hoochie) or flasher / fly.... usually flashers off the wire, dodgers off the deep rigger. I start with one of each with a few spoons in the mix to try and get a feel for what the fish want.

    Just my $.02

  6. I also use the auto stop beads on my Scotty's with the coated D/R cable.

I covered the bead with shrink tubing and CAREFULLY heated the shrink tubing to encase the bead in its own little cocoon.... slides through the antenna smooth as silk..
