  1. Diehards were a great spoon . Purple was probably the best but green or yellow had their days also. I seen some at Abes the other day so I guess people can buy them now. Im just wondering what the hot spoon is going to be this yr. I would imagine there are going to be a lot of tight lips with three LOC derbs going. We usually get the fish figured out I just cant get a good one during a derby.

  2. Ray I wanted to try that many times when you see the steelhead on the surface.Jump up on the bow with a spinning rod and cast ahead of the boat.

Reb I used to be a real prolific poster. I used to hand out tons of info on whats working, when, where etc. I once posted a lot of good info and had 300plus hits and not a single reply.I don't really care and I am probably wineing but I use this board for entertainment purposes only now.Im not going to lie in my reports, but I'm not as specific as I used to be.Yes there is a lot of good info exchanged here and Ive met a lot of good people from this board. Even in the winter I check the board probably 3 times a day.

In years past Ive even rented computer time at Macdonald's. I would go there and sit in the parking lot with my laptop . Hook up to their wireless thingy and give a report.

  3. This isnt fishing related but I know I can count on you guys. Im looking for a equipment trailer. The detachable type , like you would pull behind a tractor trailer. The type you would haul a dozer or other type of heavy equipment. If you see one around NYS or nearby let me know.Used not new.Ive been looking in equipment trader mags and that already. Thanks guys and gals.

  4. Took a ride up to the big pond today. Had to pay my campsite at Hughes and did a little shopping at Abes. He just moved the shop down the street three doors. I have never seen so many lures . I checked out the new NKs. Stingers and all mfg. you can imagine.I dont need anything but I managed to drop 80 bucks like it was nothing.I guess Im a spoon junkie. Its just a guess but I would say he had 300 different NKs in there. The more you look the more you need.

  5. Okuma's ,Heartlands are ok but I like the Okumas better.I run mostly dodger flys off the divers. And the Okumas tip seems more sensitive. You can judge your downspeed watching the rod tip. If its pulsing you know your dodger is working right.I run wire dipseys all the time after spring top water fishing. I have downspeed and temp. but I dont need it it when the wires are out. Also I seem to catch more fish out of temp then in temp.Ive still got a couple heartlands that served well for many years. I would say it all depends on how much you fish. How much attention you pay to little details.

  6. Im thinking about picking up a couple {4 total] new linecounters for spring planerboard fishing.I made the mistake of running 12lb test last yr Im going back to 17lb this spring.I love my tekota wire setups and Ive been thinking I want Tekotas for mono also. Anyone had experence with the 300 or the 500? Its hard for me to just order one not ever really seeing one or holding one in my hand.

  7. I dont believe I could get under the bridge. There also used to be a gravel bar at the outlet to the lake you had to watch. If you go and can take a quick measurement form the bridge to the water it would be nice to know if I could make it. One time in my other boat I forgot[actually girlwatching] and left the rods in the rodholders. Thats embarassing. It has its own wackcrack sound when you go under the bridge.

And Stinger , dont use the same ruler you use to measure your fish!

  8. Thanks for posting that info. Were luckey we got the fishing in we got.I ve been thinking about switching lakes for awhile . May try Seneca out of Sampson for a change.A new challange. Cant wait to get backup to the big pond.

  9. Ive been running wire probably 8yrs or so. There is something about it that attracts fish. I catch a lot of fish off the riggers but my best fish seem to come off the wires.Back when I fished the fingerlakes I made up a wire seth green rig. It was smokin hot. Ive changed my style now Im not after numbers ,Im after size.

As far as wire goes 300 ft back a 2.5 setting on the dipsey seems to be a good starting point.Everywhere I go. Thats a lot of cranking. to bring your stuff in to check for weeds or change lures.I figure it gets me down 80 to 90 ft with the stuff I pull.I figure If I can go down 80 they can come up 20.

A fast retreve ratio makes a hell of a difference. ,git ah tekota.

Lots of interest in leadcore lately on the board. Ive been thru that cycle before also.If it catches fish for you thats great. I caught fish on it but finally decided it wasnt worth the hassle. If I hooked a good fish on the wires or the riggers it always ended up getting wrapped up in the leadcore. If leadcore seems to be the only thing taking fish this yr Ill get it back out in a heartbeat. Im not antileadcore it was just a big hassle.

Jolley you going to be fishing out of Hughes this yr?

  10. Stinger thanks for thinking about me. I didnt make it down to the NYC boatshow I couldnt find anyone who wanted to go . My son lived on the N fork of LI. Everytime I went down I went boat shopping. Grady, Robaldo, Key west , On and on ,the dealers were all down there. Every type of boat you could imagine.Ill keep my 21ft arima. My next one will be a 22ft arima .If my ship comes in. BTW when I got my boat I was concerned the 115 was to small . But it works perfictly. If I bought a 22 it would probably have a 150. But its a much larger boat. One of the guys up at camp is supposed to be showing up with a new 22 this yr. I cant wait to see it.
