    I have caught a whole bunch of huge smallmouth that say the contrary

    Large smallmouth bass are not on their menu, they eat the young fish, I know you knew that?

    good luck

    The Round Gobies are something of an enigma. They appear to have both positives and negatives attached to them. On the one hand they may eat several dozen Zebra Mussels in a day, and serve as a food source for browns and lakers, but on the other hand they are known to eat the eggs of other fish, take over their spawning beds, ingest toxins from bottom feeding and possibly poison some birds that feed on them with botulism. Cormorants seem to heavily feed on them so it would be nice to poison off some of those things.

    X 2 on that.  New York State needs to issue nuisance permits on these winged rats, as they serve no purpose, & destroy fisheries all over the state. There would be many folks getting even with these fish stealers for sure!

    cheers,

    Baddad  we've been using the trilene big game fmono for our leaders and mainlines without issue its pretty inexpensive and seems to take abrasion pretty well  so it can be changed out often if needed we found when connecting it to the wire it was beneficial to have that stretch especially due to the fact the wire dosent  stretch and with flouro it can be brittle at inopportune times if you know what i mean

    keep;

    I have been using fluorocarbon for the last twenty years, & only had trouble with Berkley fluorocarbon ever , so if you are having trouble with brittleness, probably time to get a fresh spool. Just an errant thought????

    good luck!

    In reels, torque and speed are an inverse relationship, you can’t get both - it’s simple physics of mechanisms. Reels don’t create power, they use the power you supply. I don’t recommend high speed reels for rigs used to tow heavier gear. It’s like riding a bike up a hill in a high gear - too steep a hill in too high a gear and you struggle.

    High speed reels are better used for light rigger and planer board lines. Longer (heavier) weighted lines and big divers pulling attractors need torque not speed.

    JEP;

    First off I too have been using Diawa Saltist high speed 30 series reels for the last 8 years on my Talora roller wire rods.

    IMHO, I understand what you are saying, & it is true, however, I either walk backwards or pump the rod & reel down to gain line,  I do not reel the fish in straight off of the reel as you are suggesting, so the reduced reeling power of the higher gear ratios doesn't come into play for me.  I much prefer the high speed reels for getting gear back to the boat when checking lines or missed bites.

    good luck

    You leave it on to balance the board. It can be adjusted or positioned fore and aft depending on how the waves are or whether you are running something with a lot of drag.

    Hi Les;

    Wondering how you would adjust the weight based on drag.  I have moved the weight all the way forward from the first use, & haven't ever changed it.  Typically pulling deep diving stick baits with up to 4OZ of weight attached.  When would you slide the weight to the rear position?

     Tks in advance

    when I first saw this bill. I new it was dead on arrival. The people that wrote this bill should be drug tested and given an IQ test.  drug testing should be mandatory every six months.  do you think we need another stimulus package when we already have a 28 trillion dollar deficit now. what we need  is people with common sense that know how to lead.

    The drug testing must be random to have any chance of working!

    We went with Lumitec Caprera2's on our boat. We went a cheaper direction when we first bought the boat, but the sun made the housings real brittle and they didn't last long. These have been on for about 8 years now and look and function like the day we bought them. We opted for the white/blue version. We went with 4 and I'll be honest with you it's overkill. 1-2 is sufficient for most boats. If you are interested in any Lumitec products let me know I can ship them right to your door.

    Love the triple JET engines on your boat! Bet it is very fast!

    We flew to Anchorage and rented an RV and traveled to Denali, Fairbanks, Seward, and Homer. We spent 20 days in the RV in September at reduced rates of $90 a day spit between 2 couples . We had a great time and caught salmon, grayling, rainbows and dollies on our own for very little cost. It was to late for good salmon fishing but we got to see a lot of beautiful country and lots of wildlife.
    We also hooked up with a former student that took us for a couple days of halibut fishing.
    You could always hire guides or stop at resorts if you desired. It was nice to be able to set our own schedule and do it on the cheap.
