    A new boat that is powered by a jet ski power system is out. It is designed to travel over shallow gravel or sand bars in rivers with a windshield protected driver that can stand or sit. This will open up a lot of fishing opportunity inland.

    Jim;

    How about some info:  brand, some specs, maybe a picture???

  2. We spend a lot of money on our fishing gear, & expect it to perform as advertised for a long time.  Sorry to hear about your defective rod holders, seems like the companies design is less than the  bulletproof configuration we have come to  expect.  Fortunately, there are a number of brands that seem to be much better.  Hope the manufacturer steps up, & replaces their defective product.

    good luck

    Take a-plug out and look at it #1 The spark plug wires do not last forever either ! Two opposing views #1 If it ain't broke don't fix it ! #2 Follow a regular service plan ! No easy answer but every mechanical issue I have had has been lack of regular service on my part ! Remember that FRAM commercial " Pay me now , or pay me later but later is always more !" Thanks for asking this is a great site !

    Love your honesty about owning the mechanical issues, as I feel the same way.

    i've used both the single and dual axis and i like the single axis best. they both are great for running divers. no more leaning out over the side of the boat to get your rod out of the holder. just grab the rod and lift and the holder ratchets up then just lift the rod out.

    My traxstech diver rod holders operate in the same manner, just pull it up vertical & remove the rod.

    Backing is necessary! 100yds of 25lb mono then your 1000ft of wire will fill a 30 size Okuma reel.  Check the spooling chart at the top of this section of the forum.

    FF,

    I don't agree, as I have been using only wire on my diver rods for the last 30 years with absolutely no problems.  Mono degrades way too soon, & I am not going to worry about that with my set up.

    Good luck, & tight lines

    Could be pump failure. Could be switch or wiring. Best to check to see if you have power at the pump. Be careful of sparks when testing down there. Use an ohm meter to check 12v. If you have power there and pump is bad most of the time it’s not a big deal to replace.

    Make sure your meter is set to read volts DC, if it is set to ohm's, you will likely blow up the ohm's portion of the meter.

    good luck!

    In most cases ,not all , the engines are over propped a bit ,so adding a little hp isn't going to mean buying props , just puts it on the money. May even see a little higher cruise speed and better mpg. What's your max rated  rpms and what are you hitting at WOT ?  Time not a factor ,go local and ask the builder for recomendations on things like roller rockers vs stock and heads will have to be shaved ,so he should  / will make sure you have enough stock left for that to happen. Good luck !

    Good to know that cylinder heads grow beards, & need to be shaved periodically, thanks?   :wink:

    I have the same set of rod holders, & mine have loosened up a little more each year.  There are a set of holes on the bottom of the post, where a spanner wrench could be used to tighten them up (1/4" pins on a center distance of 2" or so). Will be looking into getting a spanner to try to tighten them up in the near future.

    good luck

    I don't have a Fishhawk X4, etc, only a TD.  I don't connect it to anything.  I run the line I want to check depth on like normal, then when line out and speed are correct, I clip the TD to the line and let it slide down.  Leave for a minute or 2 and then bring the line in to check how deep it was running.  I try to run the TD just before pulling a line for a lure change or whatever, so I'm not bringing the line in twice (esp. dipseys!).

    I think attaching the TD will affect the dive rate and you won't get accurate data.  I've used it on dipseys, copper and leadcore so far and it seems to work great.

    Cray;

    good method for using the TD!  I attached my TD to my junk rods, & recorded achieved depth at 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300' for each of them, & this has worked well for me.

    good luck
