  1. About time we have a walleye report from Lake Ontario.  It has the largest walleyes in the Great Lakes system but salmon and  trout receive the most publicity. And bass fishing, the largest fishing fan contingent in the USA receives even less.

  2. All four of our Great Lakes system are at record levels this year. They eventually drain and flow through Lake Ontario. Rainfall records are falling this year. Plan on living with it this year. Put in floating docks or wear hip boots now. Things will get worse, its just Mother Nature now, Albany can not help you.Just help yohttps://www.mlive.com/weather/2020/05/staggering-amount-of-water-added-to-lake-michigan-and-lake-huron-in-past-2-weeks.htmlur self.

  3. It is illegal on both sides now to cross over the border line now for recreation fishing and boating. Contests are returning Canadian entries to the applicants. On the lower Niagara River be aware especially heading up to Devil's Hole , the Peace Bridge area and the West River around Grand Island shoreline. Your Ontario Fishing license will not get you off any charges unless you launch from Canada but the border is now closed at the Bridges.

  4. Brown trout are available all year. During the warm summer water temperatures find where the thermocline meets the bottom and fish there. Browns are not pelagic suspended fish but bottom oriented. Someone is going to bring in a 36 inch Brown Trout one of these days and those King Salmon specialists will start to change their ways. Remember they do not die after spawning but continue to grow to real old age. In European waters they travel to the sea for forage and return to fresh water streams to reproduce. Bring a Brown Trout close to your boat and the battle starts there.

  5. East type winds blow warm surface waters to the west. Colder bottom water upwells and the fish metabolism and feeding stops. During warm summer west winds the warm water stacks up on the east end and the fish flee to cooler waters.Offshore winds on the south shore cause cold water up wellings in the summer and the thermocline should be sought as that the fish will congregate. The thermocline is where warm and cold waters mix.

  6. Cost sharing is easier with two or three guys sharing the entry fee. Cell phones in an an side pocket to keep the lithium battery warm. Cold air kills the battery so a  marine radio is a good idea. A cigarette lighter hooked to your battery can keep the cell phone charged. Team fishing contests create a lot of interest that is fair also.

  7. The DEC had a program on the upper Niagara River Islands here  the cormorants nesting there were killing the trees. They used 22 shorts to take them down from trees. Also they vegetable oiled the eggs in the nests..
