  7. Hope you are enjoying all the white stuff Normal day up here in the north. See you soon!! Jeff
  8. I agree with Rick that it depends on what mood the fish are in as to leader length. I"m sure that some days it wouldn't matter but some days a longer or shorter leader would be the ticket. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the LOTSA show. Can't wait to see what new things Gary has come up with. I know that what I have used so far has been great and I'm sure the new stuff will be that too!!! See everyone in a couple of weeks. Jeff
  9. Ray, Sorry to hear about your Mom but glad she is doing ok. My family and I will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers. Jeff
  10. The only reel that I know of that will handle a 600 copper with enough backing is a Penn 345. I have my 600 on that reel. All my shorter lengths are on Tekotas. I think the rod choice would be based on what you are fishing for. In the finger lakes a medium to heavy rod would work fine as long as the guides let the swivels through. On Lake O I would recommend a heavy rod. Jeff
  11. Jason, Hope you had a great day and here's to many many more!!! Jeff
  12. The grease traps work great on lakers. Just watch the video on the Big Weenie site. I have personal experience using them on the finger lakes and they worked great. Haven't tried them on Lake O but I'm sure they will work great there too. Jeff
  13. Ray you are the only one who gets the PINK one. Jeff
  14. First of all I would like to thank all the Pro-Am committee members for their hard work at and behind the scenes for making these events so much fun!! As a newcomer to the Pro-Am events, I was not around when the communications rule changed, but I am curious as to why it was changed though. I can look at some of the rule changes and see why they were changed and changed back or again. Numbers of fish change and I can see changing the size of the box limits to help out with the ups and downs in the fish populations, etc. If it appeared that too many fish were dieing, I can see the no cull rule. I don't see why the Ams lost fishing time except to make the lines shorter but why at our expense only?? I think that Tom's poll is correct and above board, but if the Pro-Am committee needs more than that then maybe a mandatory question could be put on the application form and all teams need to answer it yes or no to enter the events. Maybe some of the teams that dropped out would get back into some or all of the events just so that their opinion would be heard. If the overwhelming majority want the rule changed, change it for 2012, it can always be changed again if necessary. I know that enforcing rules can be difficult but most of the current rules could be broken if someone really wanted to!! An observer is there to make sure the rules are followed. If the penalty for violating any of the rules is severe enough, anybody that may be tempted to break certain rules may think twice. If someone needs to cheat to win or place at a Pro-Am event I feel sorry for them. I know that I couldn't live with myself if I had to break the rules to win!!! Hopefully the Pro-Am committee will listen to the majority and change the rules accordingly so the the Pro-Am series will continue to grow and we can all continue to have a great time!!!! Jeff
  15. Paul, Awesome work as always!!! Jeff

  18. Congrats on a very fine first deer. I can relate to the nervousness about finding a kid's deer. I'm glad you were able to find him. These are truly great memories for the both of you!!! Jeff
  19. Remington makes a 260 which is 6.5 MM. Bigger than the 243 and smaller than the 270. Accurate and might be a good in between caliber. Very similiar to the 7Mm08 and the 25 06. Jeff
  20. That's a great deer!!! Makes some great memories. Congrats!! Jeff
  21. Hopefully I didn't screw this up this time. I couldn't be more proud of Matt. He didn't get too discouraged by not getting a crack at the 10 point and got a buck on his own without Dad's help. Jeff
  22. I can't seem to get the picture of Matt's buck to load. I'll keep trying. Jeff
  23. Here are a couple of pictures of our successful opening day here in PA. The first one is my son Matt holding my 10 point. I wish he had gotten that buck be he had trouble getting on the buck in the brush and I could not let this get by. The big one managed to make it another year. The second picture is Matt and his buck he got an hour and a half later. Same stand. It was an awesome day for us. Hope everyone else left hunting in whatever state has success. Jeff
