  1. Rich, It was nice meeting you and your team at the tourney. What with the way the fishing was down there, I think the best catch of the weekend was on that spinning rod at Four C's. Best laugh of the weekend watching that battle, LOL. Nice meeting ya. Nate, Team Member, Coldwater Affair
  2. love to get out for a morning. I'll see what the old lady has planned and call you. Need to spread the new cell number around anyway. I've been hearing about this sweet March Brownie fishing for a few years now, I'd love to get a taste.
  3. Yep, I'm in England. I fly home on Friday the 21rst, then to Texas on Tuesday the 25th.
  4. Sounds like a sweet trip jeff. Now I'm really homesick. I'd give anything to be lifting a brown into the boat about now. This work thing is getting real old real fast. Anyway, good to hear you had a good first trip, didn't even have to call the Coast Guard. LoL. Nate
  5. This was my 3rd year fishing Lake O with my buddies. Fished all 4 pro-ams, didn't do to shabby. Had a great year putting fish in the boat and learned something new everytime I went out with the guys. Spending time with good friends, doing something you all enjoy and have a passion for. Just doesn't get any better than that. Weather it's sitting on a hot ass boat in the middle of the day praying for even a false release for some kind of action, or weather it's scrambling through a triple 15 minutes after tournament fishing starts. It's all good, and I can't wait for next year. Big thanks to each of you here on this board for all the information and stories shared. And Big Props to my guys that are cool enough to include my in this thing we call salmon fishing on Lake O. Jeff Goudy Rick Thanks, and see you next year! Nate
  6. Thanks for the info. Question. When you had it in the water how was it? How was it handling & attitude wise on the lake? The way I see it,if I can pick it up for $3K and then put say $4 - 5K into it to where I have fixed all the major items( outdrive, steering, bellows, gas tank, seating, canvas etc.) then I know what I've got. Boat with all fresh equipment for around $8 K and the knowledge of what is what. Spend $8K on another boat that is supposedly turn key and you still don't know the history, you are playing the lottery, right? The only difference is the name on the side and the word of mouth from the prevoius owner. I don't know? Still toying with the idea of picking it up and making a project of it for my reintroduction to boating on the lake. Thanks for the input.
  7. One more vote for Abe's. He's got 4 wall's in there loaded with any spoon you could possably need, and just like Goudy said, lots of old hard to find stuff. Cool shop.
  8. Thanks for the replies. Any thoughts or opinions are very much appriciated. Finally have the boat at my place. Needs a serious cleaning but hull seems real solid. Lots of little things need attention but just standard stuff ( finish wood, fix canvas mounts, vents, seals on windows, etc.) The guys and I had the muffs on it and the 4.3 runs mint but the bellows need replacing as their leaking. Trailer is good to go and the outdrive seems good to. no moisture was in the lower end. The mother in law wants rid of it now and will let it go to me for $4,000. Thoughts? Thanks
  9. Check out the fishing report here. http://abes-tackle-box.com/ Don't forget to stop in and check out the Lodge.
  10. Been fishing with my buddies for a little over a year and a half on Lake O, in my buddies boat. Learned a lot and have fallen in love with salmon fishing. Plan on getting my own boat in around 2 years while currently gaining more experience fishing with my buddies on their boat. Have the opportunity, however, to get a boat of my own wet for a reasonable price( $0.00 from the in-laws in exchange for summer storage with free reign of use till next summer!) It's a 1987 23' Sea Sprite, has a small cuddy, V6 Merc, etc. Don't know a thing about these other that this one runs mint. Does anyone have any history on Sea Sprite boats and Lake O? Would this boat be suitable to take out on the lake and try and put some fish in it? Doesn't have to be a seroius fishing rig, just something to learn in and get some lines wet. Let me know. Thanks.
  11. Check it. Just to be fair, one for Goudy too.
  12. Bought my season pass for the L.O.C. today . Can't wait to crank down on one of those new reels!!! BTW, we should post that pic of those two bruisers we got the last day last year. Not everyday you get a double like that.
  13. Ouch, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO for 4. Hope that rating goes up by the time we get to Point Breeze & Olcott. Guess I better stop there since I'm still new to the game and so I keep my spot on the boat. Been thinking about it since last year ended! I promise not to slice another wire , scouts honor. BTW, if another participant is needed for the night time outings, you know how to get ahold of me. Nate
  14. I'm relatively new to the forum and tournament fishing (both kick a@# BTW!) but I did participate in last years events and was on the boat that was taking on water. So here are my two cents. I am in favor of no communication. Way more fun and competitive. In the event of an emergency, and I do mean only an emergency, the no communication rule goes out the door and you CYOA! Just common sense. There's plenty of time for communication at the weigh in tent and/or bar after the events each day. As a sidebar, like I said I'm relatively new to salmon fishing as a whole but I got hooked , no pun intended, two years ago and lucky enough to get involved with 3 guys willing to show me the ropes and let me fish with them. They got me turned on to this forum as well and I've learned by leaps and bounds. Great guys, great site. Thanks for all the help. My two cents. Keep it between the navigational beacons. TrimTab
