  1. Picked up a 243 winchester. Plan on trying 105 bergers. Anyone have any experience with this cartridge and bullet combo? Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  2. You're not gonna get to 3200 with a 120 grain bullet in the 08. Lucky to see 3000. Not knocking the 08 it's a very versatile round. The 257 is in a class of its own as a deer, antelope or sheep gun with 110 to 120 grain bullets. The 08 does alot of stuff fairly well, the 257 weatherby does what it does very well. 7. I have only fished there once out of a friend's boat. We launched at a state park. Low overhead bridge goung out. Is Treman on the west or east? Thanks for the upcoming report Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  8. Trying to put a trip together on Sunday on cayuga with my grandson. Hoping someone could give me a starting point and some deprhs, tactics for this time of year etc. Would like to get a few land locks for him to tussle with. Will be coming from north central pa. Thanks in advance. Tom Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  9. Definitely going to reload. A bunch of the 1000 yd guys are shooting the 7 and 300 shorts from rem and winchester. Seems to be a very efficient round. Planning on shooting the new Hornady 178 eldx bullet. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  10. Any thoughts on this cartridge for deer, elk etc? I have no experience with it at all. Thanks for any thoughts. Sent from my SCH-I545 using Lake Ontario United mobile app
  11. There is a reason you can get them on sale for under a hundred bucks.
  12. I've mounted 2 bsa scopes. The sweet 17 and one for 22 lr. These have the yardage right on the turret after initial sight in. Both are off now. Hated them. Not clear at the higher powers and wouldn't come back to zero. Birros and Weaver are my choices for the lower dollar scopes. I like adjustable objective for close shot focus.
  13. I have a heavy barreled marlin and love it. Bought an aftermarket trigger because the factory trigger had too much creep. Very accurate and fun to shoot. Great for the 100 to 150 yd stuff.
  14. Yes, yes. A true bow hu term wouldn't use anything but a long bow and a true fisherman nothing but a fly rod. Wow. I bow to your trueness.
  15. By crowded I mean a set that guides them too much or has too much backing. It can be slight. A gray fox will go in a cubby, a red very seldom, a yote almost never. Yotes like to see past the set so you don't want it too tight to brush or a goldenrod field. They are all smart but the yote is nervous on steroids.
  16. If you can catch a coon you can catch a cat. No comparison to the canines other than a gray fox
  17. Yes the trench set is real good. Again, the lack of backing and the sight through the set are bonuses for yotes. I also think fox dont mind fresh dirt under their feet but yotes shy frim it a bit. I really try to blend my traps if im after yotes.
  18. Thanks for the pic help king. Here's a cat we caught also. Cats don't mind a tight set with heavy backing or even a cubby but a yote just won't commit to the tight space and lack of sight through the backing
  19. Big difference in fox and yotes. Yotes don't like being crowded at a set.
  20. I enjoy shooting them too but have always liked to trap. Very educational process. The difference between the cats and dogs is amazing
