Eli...Jazz ( the redtail) is wicked cool... she takes off and sits in trees while we bust the brush and scare up squirrels and Rabbits... when she sees a target, it's a complete dive bomb.... she kills the prey and holds on to it until my buddy gets there.... he has done a great job training her..... I never realized how much went into falconry and the different types of birds guys used. I hate to admit it, but I missed today's last day of the late season.....good reason though.....new retriever for next season..... Jackson.... Spent more time chasing small game with my buddy and his redtail than in the duck blind.... Seems some amatures stumbled upon the area we like to hunt and blew it up on the internet...grrr.... Right on Bill.... it's very frustrating living in these times ( especially for me and my comrades) however I like fishing and hunting too much to allow some turd to help himself to a resource I ( and many other law abiding sportsmen) helped create... Back when snagging was legal, a DEC officer actually had an apartment on St. Paul right near Seth Green ( paid for by the state for 2 months). I spoke to him often. He would tell me about all the different cases he caught out of a simple fishing license check... as young kid, I thought he had the coolest gig. Really? You think it's OK for people to snag, net, and sell these fish? These individuals are making a profit on our taxpaying dollars and efforts. Let's assume the proper manpower was generated.... It would only take one or two weekends of zero tolerance down there, and the riff raff would be scarse. As far as bigger fish to fry...what bigger fish does the DEC have to fry this time of year? When I was talking about saturating an area, I was referring to DEC and USFG... Sure the city PD has their hands full, but laws are laws... I'm not suggesting locking people upon Game violations, however people who violate these laws, tend to ignore the other ones as well... When it comes to,the criminal justice system, I can say I might be smarter than the average bear. Going down to the gorge in force will open up many doors... Its called probable cause... In order to find bigger crimes officers utilize smaller offenses to establish "probable cause" to question a suspect.... Street cops use V&T laws alit of times as PC... With that said, the DEC could go down there, check fishing licenses, check for warrants ( if bet money they get at least 1 or 2 a day), drugs or weapons. After a few times of saturating the area, the violators will get the hint.... It happens in the city all the time...it's called project impact...city cops accompanied by sheriff's and troopers saturate a high crime area... Everyone arrested get brought to the Bing. Soon enough, the bad guys get the hint. Its basic policing 101. I know the DEC and USFG monitors this site. Hopefully this whole thread gets their attention.
