  1. Thanks! I'll give the braid a try. I always use 12# mono and a steel leader (lots of northerns around where I cast). JAM
  2. Hey Eastbay, Nice Hawg. How do you chuck NK spoons? I can't seem to cast them more than about 20 feet. When casting, I always wind up throwing Cleos and Dardevles. Jam
  3. Thanks for the response. Yep - I have the model with stop-short and didn't understand that the cable needs to be in the water. I keep learning something new every day -- sometimes it even helps catch a few fish! Good luck!
  4. Thanks guys. I didn't realize the short-stop function worked that way on the newer units. I had an older style owners manual that described the switch that stays in the up position and stops the motor via the circuit breaker. Bottom line is I need to get my prop installed and get in the water!
  5. I bought 2 Cannon Mag 10 riggers last fall on Craigslist and just put them on my rigger board. Once wired to the battery I tried them out and am confused about the up/down/auto off switch. I have to hold the switch down to lower the weight. I also have to hold the switch up to raise it. (I thought it would stay up and keep coming up to the boom then shut off via the circuit breaker.) (I'm doing all this on the trailer in the driveway.) Am I doing something wrong or is the switch broken? (Does the ball need to be in the water to keep the rigger going up?) I pulled the switch out and checked it with a VOM and it definitely needs to be held 'up' to keep the connection made. Is that right? Any ideas? Thanks!

  7. Fished from 7 til noon without a single King hookup. Saw a lot of marks down around 90 very near the bottom - figured they were Lakers cause they weren't hitting anything at 2.5-3.2 mph on the GPS. Anyone get Kings Saturday AM off Braddocks? Did I miss something? I don't have down temp, so was I totally in the wrong neighborhood? JAM
