  1. I have a 15# chrome Shark and wonder what is the best distance behind the Shark? I've been seeing a lot of lookers with no takers on the graph lately... Their website says 3-4 should do it, but I wonder what your experiences are? Also, their site says dont run a flasher behind the shark (attractor behind attractor...) What have your experiences been with that? If good, how far back? Thanks guys, JAM
  2. I have a 15# chrome shark and like the improvement in blowback on my probe rigger, but don't see much improvement in fish hits vs. the 12# cannon ball. I was looking at their website and they suggest spoons 3-4 ft behind the shark, and to not use a flasher behind the shark. What distance behind the shark works best for you guys? Flashers/dodgers? thanks! JAM
  3. I ran two rigger this morning, one with 20# flea flicker and one with 30# Berkley/Trilene mono. The Flea Flicker was clean but the 30# mono was totally clogged. I thought that 30# was supposed to be big enough for them not to attach??!! Anyhoo, I'm going to get some more Flea Flicker - pronto. JAM
  4. My wife put this 13.07 Laker on the board. It hit a White-glow/Green-dots Spinny and Hammer fly out 360 on the wire over 120 FOW in front of Braddocks. It actually did a pretty healthy run out to 510+ on the counter before we were able to make any progress... She reeled the last few dozen feet while I netted the fish. Good luck to all. JAM
  5. I ran out of Braddocks this morning and saw the same thing... more big hooks on the graph from 220 to 280 down than I've ever seen. The temp was 43 down 140 but all the fish were below 220. The were big hooks on the screen constantly from 280 out to 420 FOW. I tried to run a 1 lb ball back on the wire 550 to 600 but no takers... anybody know how deep I was???? These conditions are TOUGH. Also FLEAS -- tons and tons. Don't even think about running a free slider. We went 1 for 2 all morning -- landed a decent steelie that hit a 42 second Silver Streak on the 8 color leadcore. Had a beauty of a mark down 125 in about 230 FOW that hit a magnum NK purple thunder out 365 on the wire. Lost it before I could grab the rod. Came in around 12:30 when the skies over Braddocks turned black. Good luck to all... JAM
  6. Nice King, Carl! What did it weigh? Which rig did it hit? Are you running mag Moonshines? How far behind the ball do you usually run the Moonshines? Thanks! JAM
  7. Put a 13.04 Laker on the board. My 12 year old son set the rigger and reeled in the fish. (He is very quick on the release... beats me almost every time!) I cleared rods and manned the net. It hit a magnum Moonshine Carbon-14 parked down 60 over 90 feet of water, just west of Braddocks. JAM
  8. Put a 13.04 Laker on the board today. My 12 year old son set the rigger and reeled in the fish. (He is very quick on the release... beats me almost every time!) I cleared rods and manned the net. It hit a magnum Moonshine Carbon-14 parked down 60 over 90 feet of water, just west of Braddocks. Probably won't hold up long on the Adult board, but maybe on the Youth... JAM
  9. Around Rochester - Genny, Irondequoit Bay, Braddocks, etc. lots of us LOUsers monitor 08. JAM

  11. Capt. Carl, After seeing your results with a Carbon-14 magnum with an added laser ladderback last year, I got a couple at Narby's and they became one of my best producers, including a Fall Derby Brown. (Picked up a nice Coho on one this Saturday too...) Where can I get a new Carbon-14 fly? JAM
  12. Great report Mark. That 22 is NICE! What did she hit? Thanks for the comeback on 08. We ended up 2 for 2 in a little over an hour. Cut it short when the 1 o'clock chop started. When I was describing the 'Sister Sledge' I forgot that some manufacturers call it a 'Carmel Dolphin'. I posted a pic for you in Tackle Descriptions anyway. Talk to you next time, Jeff JAM
  13. This one is like a dolphin, with red/chartreuse and chartreuse glow tape. Works great in the top 50 -- a surefire leadcore spoon. Mark -- this one's for you... JAM
  14. Thanks for the advice guys. I've got a pair of 28" beefy bags on the way from Frank. JAM
  15. My 26 ft Searay with a 350 Alpha1 at minimum forward throttle ~650 rpm does about 3 to 3.5 mph on flat seas with no wind. What size/brand trolling bags would be the best setup to get me down into the 1.8 to 2.8 mph range? Thanks for your help! JAM
  16. This 10.0 lb brown would have made 9th place in the LOC if it came a couple days earlier. Caught near Braddocks on a 3/4 oz. glow white/orange Cleo. Released so someone can bring it in during the Summer or Fall derby. JAM
  17. Carl, I know you catch a lot of Kings, so I'm a little confused... I thought the ideal temp range for Kings is 42-44 deg, so it would seem to me that starting deepest at 50 deg and going up from there would put you mostly in Brown and Steelie territory. Did you mean set the fish hawk rigger at 40? thanks, JAM
  18. Michingan Stinger also has the R1003 Electric Blueberry in their Nitro Extended Super Glow series that looks pretty darn close too. JAM
  19. Yankee, Your blue/white/black seed design looks a lot like the Moonshine Dancing Anchovy. I had good luck with the Moonshine lures last season... the Carbon-14 and the Flounder Pounder were a couple of my best producing spoons. JAM
  20. I have another pic, with the fish hanging straight down, and the hump is just as big. It's a little blurry and doesn't show the whole fish, but I'll post it later... JAM
  21. Just be careful you don't bang the Yecks around or put undue stress on the holes with your snaps or split rings. I've had some pretty good sized chunks of the thick paint come off revealing the brass spoon blank underneath. Otherwise, good product... JAM
  22. Just found this article: seems like at least some kind of hump is normal in large spawning males... http://www.jstor.org/pss/1441233 JAM
  23. Being a major advocate of catch and release, I let this this guy swim back down to continue doin' his thing... One of you will have to catch him again to settle up. I knew that the males get goofy looking during their spawn, but thought this seemed a bit extreme. JAM
