  1. LJ we'll be up Fri and hopefully represent well for Cayuga Sat.
  2. I grabbed an entry form at the Spring B&B Tournament. Looks to be a one day -June 19 ends at 4:00. Both bass and Trout. Weigh in is at the lower parking lot of Tughannok Falls Inn. I would contact Bear's in Trumansburg. He is involved in the weigh in and 50/50 raffle..
  3. Just mailed in my entry for this. anybody else?
  4. RR, we saw you out in the deep stuff as the fog cleared, we fished tight to shore around Miliken and also had our hands full. That fog was something, 50 feet of water in front of a power plant and we couldn't see it. We had a great morning tons of solid fish and not a laker in the bunch. Must be alot of those shakers grew up fast. mower
  5. Nice Job. I'll be heading out Sat and Sun out of Myers. My plan was to head north. Hopefully that shallow water program holds up. If your out let me know I'll keep you posted on how we do south of you. catch me on 68. Note: This is the first weekend I'm going to try running 4 Dipseys on wire at the same time. It could be good or really bad? Mower
  6. Split, I have a question from cocky little nephew. He is 13 this year and feels that he is going to catch more than one lunker fish. Can he register in both youth and adult divisions? And if so can the same fish be used for both youth and adult divisions? Keep in mind that I have to see this kid again and if he places in both divisions I may never hear the end of it? I hate to say it but this kid catches fish and he has made me look like a rookie.
  7. i'm not knocking the manufacture, the particular unit i have is a cheap one, i bought it from a discount store and found out upon installing it, that it was discontinued two years prior. i got exactly what i payed for and up to this point it is functional, just not what i need anymore. i'm going w/ unit that has a much more detailed viewing screen. and hopefully more accurate placement of cursor on the contour lines.
  8. thanks Andy, I'm just tired of bouncing bottom w/ my shark weights and of coarse the probe right above. I love fishing tight for browns and even though I know the contours to a degree it would be better to have the fail safe so my only excuss is operator error. I have a Lowrance lxc -27 and the Gps keeps blowing the antenia puck. I have replaced it three times already so I use at as the depth sounder only . Any problems w/ your unit loosing signal? Or "not acquiring satalites"? Hopefully we'll catch up on the water sometime, seems like when your on the water I'm south and your north. We've had a great season so far. John
  9. I'm in the market for a GPS chart plotter. Looking for any suggestions on a good unit w/ proven track record. Right now I have a Garmin GPS that is grossly inaccurate. I am a running it w/ a map card and the depth sounder reads 100 feet and were on the 20 ft contour line on the GPS. I typically fish cayuga w/ the occasional ontario trip. We enjoy fishing the skinny water for a good part of the season and like to keep our presentation close to bottom. This being said any cayuga angler knows how erratic the shore is and often makes it tough. Please advise.
  10. On cayuga we've had success trolling up the east andwest shore. I fish the skinny water no more then 70 ft deep for the boat w/ planers out to each side. Once you see bait start making circles. We abandoned the south end 3 weeks ago and still hit the bows and LL pretty good both days last weekend. I have been running flat lines w/ stickbaits and use from 1 to 4 split shots. Our best times last weekend was 10am to 11:30am. 2 colors down the shoot also worked. riggers ran shallow also took fish. Basically we got really lucky and put together a fantastic program. Hopefully we can do the same this weekend. Mower
  11. Crow Bar Point is the point below the girl scout camp on the west side below Toughannock and above the Yacht Club. Big can bouy right on the point. Rocky Dock is above Taughannock, above the boys scout camp but below sheldrake. You'll recognize this area by short cliffs w/ cottages above it and docks that are built along side the rock, hence rocky dock. I good way to find it straight across to the west side from Miliken station then head south. Rocky Dock is an area that has dramatic bottom contour changes and will take your rigger weights if your not careful. That said I love Rocky dock and know it well. I have a few go to way points on my gps. Mower. I'll be on Cayuga sat, sun and mon. Catch me on 68 and if I can I'll help you get on some fish. we've been ding well lately.
  12. Split, I know what your going through, tournament time comes and the big fish go hide. We normally manage something for the board but we really scrapped the bottom of the barrel for this one. We hit a hot spot from 07 as a last ditch effort and it payed off. I'll be up on Friday after work- plan of fishing Sat and Sunday. I've got a small charging issue w/ only one battery - hopefully I'll find a quick fix for it Friday night. I'll catch you on the lake Saturday.
  13. I know this is a more of a bragging rights thing , but is anybody open to throwing a few bucks into a jar for a winner takes all cash prize? Maybe just $10 a boat?
  14. Get a hold of Splitshot - He'll have the results.
  15. Day one we stayed south end from bolton pt to crowbar pt and played in the waves and among the debris. We boated 30 plus small LL and Browns ( 6 or 7 were keepers- all released). all on planer board /stick bait or shallow riggers and stickbaits. We fished for the first season Renosky "crytalina" stickbaits and they worked great. Never tried the deep water. Day 2 we headed north did very little on the east shore from Meyers to Miliken. Made the trip to the west side and headed back south through rocky dock and down to Tuaghannock. Found tons of lakers hitting our spring 09 waypoints. Fish came on Green on green flasher fly (rollin rock by BW) , white on white wonderbread S/D and fly. Out 180 and 240. Our riggers got a workout too. 65 and 75 feet down New purple R&R spoon w/ a green lightening bolt on one and R&R Barney Spoon on the other. Two nice 5lb landlocks on the 10 color w/ stickbait. Most lakers were in the 5-7 lbs range and one nice one 10Lbs even. (paid for gas for the weekend). Not the showing we wanted and hoped for some larger browns and LL but can't complain. Mower
  16. That is great boat, just looked at pictures of it online. I would assume you could easily rig that for one heck of a trolling vessel as well. Talk about a comfortable ride and no problem taking waves.
  17. Wow, putting that new captians license to work. What kind of boat did you upgrade to? I haven't done much paperwork on my license yet, I have an appointment for physical in two weeks. John
  18. I live up by the Binghamton Airport in the town of Miane. Our ground was white w/ snow this moring. Could just see the tips of the grass and the deck and truck was covered. My company does alot of snow plowing in the winter and when my fiance woke me saying there was an inch of snow on the ground, I sprung out of bed. she laughed for nothing stuck to our drive way. Way too cold for this time of year. So Andy if we have snow on the hay will you still cut it? Imagine that- saying I can't make first cutting till the snow melts.
  19. Chowder, I took the appropriate action and dropped her in the slip yesterday. I figure what better place to have it then in the lake for this crazy weather. I told my fiance, w/ this cold weather, I'm leaving the i/o and kicker down in the water. One other thing to mention is make sure your hulls are dry, it stinks if your bilges freeze up and you find out when you need them. Mower
  20. Rod check was mailed on Thursday. Sent you a pm w/ an explanation?
  21. Split, We are just eliminating the excuses for the guys on Seneca. I'm putting the boat in this weekend, not sure if much fishing will occur with the winds but atleast I'll open her up and pound some waves to ensure she's ready for next weekend. I'm taking Friday off of work- for a day of pre-fish. Will catch you at the park sometime. Good luck on Wed w/ Dave, he was excited when I spoke w/ him. mower
  22. i would make a call to the coast gaurd aux and tell them your story. if nothing else maybe they can light a fire under the sheriff's seat? That to me seem alittle troubling to say the least. I know the sheriffs ad fire dept are very slow to respond on the water but that does not give them the option to choose who they "protect and serve". Maybe a letter to the editor would also stir the pot?
  23. sorry to say I didn't get out Saturday. I was alittle crazy to think I could fish Wilson Sat AM and then back to fish Cayuga Lake. The wife looked at me at 6:00pm as we drove down 96 and just said no way. We'll get our weights in later and make up for it. Mower
