  1. WOW...i guess the sandy creekers can be a sensitive bunch if your opinions disagree with theirs.

as i said it is a good event and wasn't bashing it as a whole.just didn't agree with some of the rule changes

missdameanor....as far the river not being included. i don't believe they were last yr. so i would guess that wouldn't be much of a change for you would it? as far as your gas bill goes..what does that have to do it and who are you trying to impress with it. hopefully not me...because it don't.

as far as policieing it goes .....i believe 2 boats went out of there last yr...thank you triple s...for letting us take the 3 larger fish so we could finish in 2nd...even tho that dropped you down to 4th.

Mr. fishinman tom......unfortunately because of the rule changes we can't fish the event this yr....mainly due to the date change...tho having to drag the boat out to sandy didn't help much either. as far as the other changes go i guess i was just trying to make a point.it doesn't seem that any rule was left unchanged. i hope the master of ceromonies didn't get the boot. he seemed like a real nice guy and did the job very well. what's he doing with you guys out there anyways...lol...just kidding.

legacy, keith and the others who answered respectfully....thank you.

i think what bothered me the most is when the oak orchard guys a couple of yrs. ago changed thier rule to not allow the sandy creek boats to not participate in their couple of fall events there was a big outcry on here about it. to do the same to the few boats that might go out of braddocks just didn't seem right.

  2. sorry scott if i ruffled your feathers....but everyone thought that it was a great success and good time last yr. so what is with all this nonsence about changing the date from what it was last yr? a month earlier? can't go out of braddocks this yr.(as we did last yr. and got a 2nd. place finish.).3 fish box vs. 4 fish box. a hundred v. 75 bucks entry fee.?....the last 2 items are no big deal and i would even agree with but the first 2 i just don't get. how do you even call this the 2nd annual sandy creek shootout without putting the words improvised or modified in there somewhere. again...everybody was satisfied last yr......why change anything?

good luck to everyone fishing this event and it really is a well run tournament and good time along with a great buffet and entertaining awards host.....

  3. started out with 250 boats but after some of the post here i think its down to 2...

after back to back proams its gonna be tuff to find another play weekend ,too bad it couldnt be scheduled during the summer LOC (next year) sorta double dip derby..

thats a good point ray...actually last yr. it was 3fer. the event coincided with the last day of the orleans derby and the first weekend of the fall l.o.c. ...we kind of liked that. oh well......i guess change is what it's all about these days. :(

  4. so really what is equitable anymore? it's just a fishing tournament. do you really think the people from the east end who come to fish the west end tournaments have the same advantage as the locals or visa-versa. how about the out of state fisherman who probably in the current times do more to support this fishery and these tournaments then the local residents, myself include. i don't fish these things but am tired of hearing all the crying.toughen it up and quit trying to promote your own agenda.

  5. what is happening is exacly what i predicted would happen a yr. or two ago. you can go back and check my previous posts to confirm if you choose.the observer rule is just not feasible or practible for many reasons. in my case it's just too small of a boat to accomodate it plus the extra cost of hiring someone to do it is not worth it as i don't know anyone who would spend their weekend doing it.plus i don't really care to spend the weekend with someone i don't even know. is it really worth it?i think as fishtails mentioned the open division would grow if the purse likewise did. but i doubt that will happen as there appears to be too much politics involved

  6. hey scott.....since we won't be able to go out of braddocks this yr. i was wondering if the marina where you guys keep your boats has a launch that would be open for the partipants of the events ? i don't think the regular guys are going to be able to fish it due to the date change but i would like to get in with mary ellen. the public launch can be a zoo at that time of the day and who knows how long it could take to get out. she wouldn't be too happy with me if i couldn't get her to the weigh in on time to cash in all those big lakers and browns she is gonna get... :)

  7. thanks eveyone. we have no idea how old a fish like that would be but have been wondering the same thing also. tom...no thats not my dad he hasn't fished with us for a few yrs. now. we're getting ready to go out and eliminate another laker for you and others right now. ;) . no need to rush on out for them lakers. thats the beauty of it. congrats team wet net on yesterdays first place laker. hopefully we will see you at sodus. 8)

  8. Here's some pictures of the current leading L.O.C. Fish. We caught the lake trout on Saturday at approx. 4PM. It hit on a wire dipsey, 115 feet back, white crush spin dr./ no see um action fly. Needless to say Norm is very excited and we all hope it holds up $$$!

  9. no problem y.t....maybe someday we could meet for a cold one and discuss it. and ctually i meant to say east end (sodus and oswego) not west end. myself and my team have been fishing the lake for around 30 yrs. since the stocking first took place tho just the derbies and not big tourneys. i will have to disagree with the lakers are the easiest to catch tho that is probably true when the big ones are piled up at the bar for a short period of time coming up.actually ..i.mo. browns are by far the easiest of l.o. species to target as they prefer structure but even without it have have a norrower band of depth and temperature preference than the other species who tend to spread out and have a greater tolerance to temp. change. when the cold water rolls in the browns are just about impossible to catch but when the the warm water is in they are easy pickins.as far as the fight goes that would depend on many variables. good luck to you in the upcoming season.

  10. i enjoy trolling for the lakers during the spring derby on top of the bar. when those big 15 to 20 lbers nail your lure with just 60 ft. of wire out it's alot of fun. great time when the action is fast and furious. and it's always nice to put a few on the board every yr. of course it couldn't compare to when the professionals converge on the west end and target the browns and put a pounding on the typical 5 lb. browns in order to fill the box in order to try and place in the pro ams. it must be a riot cranking them in on 600 ft. of wire out. of course there's plenty of bigger ones caught too.my point being it's starting to sound a little hypocritical.ya do what you gotta do. live and let live.

  11. hey chad...if you want to participate in you're boat i could probably drive it again for the weekend as long as i get a break now and then to stand out on the swim platform for a smoke here and there. it seemed to work during the sodus pro-am a couple yrs. ago.....well, at least for the first day anyways.. :P ....

  12. the way i understand it, anita, is you can use tree stands there but legally you're not suppose to leave them there overnite.this could be because it's state land.don't know for sure but that's what i've heard from people who hunt there.good luck ;)

  13. i would have to say it was a very good yr. for us. but it ain't over yet. tomarrow should be a decent morning for one last crack at it. after that i move on to other things.maybe even goose hunting could be next on the agenda. :o ...i'd have to say tho that the sandy shootout during the typhoon conditions was our highlight of the yr. :D ...good luck to all on still trying to land that elusive 40 lber.

  14. also got to see a 43 + lb. king weighed in at 4'cs. during a fall e.s.l.o some yrs. later. not sure when e.s.l.o. transfered to the l.oc...this one was a silver football female. totally different looking fish.hopefully dave has some records to confirm the weights.there use to be a bunch of big kings weighed in at the oak back then. the way the spring started i thought we might see that again.

  15. im thinking it was a 46.15 caught during one of the early fall e.s.lo's. i saw the fish.it was huge broad male laying on the bottom of an old bait tank at vic's. we use to stay at harry's across the bridge..another fine establishment from the old days  and as we headed for the scales with our 32lber thinking we had something  . we glanced over into the bait tank and saw the beast. wish i would of had a camera and took some pics.maybe dave has records in the archives to confirm it. from what i remember it was caught on the flats on a williams wobbler.

  16. very nice event and was nice to meet a few of the faces and names i see on here. all pruned up seemed to be the topic of the day on our boat as well. ..not the greatest of days to be in a 19 footer with little cover but we had a good time. probably a good thing we didn't bring our shotguns for target practice. :) ..thanks to all involved for there efforts in making the 1st sandy shootout a happening and we look forward to the 2nd.
