  1. NO EXCUSE!  Not our responsability to bail him out.  I don't care if you can paint the Sistine Chapel on a spoon.  The funny thing is that everyone who gave him money or product or both would completely understand if he just sent  their goods or money back and simply said  " im overwelmed and i dont want to hold your  cash or spoons or flashers  without knowing when i can get it to you, sorry"

This is a top five favorite quote I've ever heard " Sistine chapel on a spoon."

    Love it!!!!

Ok thanks do you know what the QuickDraw option means?

The Quick draw holders have cutouts on the rod holders so you can quickly get your rod out of the holder instead of having to lift it out under tension like in a standard rod holder. See how the aluminum is cut out in the front and back of the holder in the pic? Go to Big Jon.com - I'm sure they have an explanation there. It's sort of like the el cheapo cabelas rod holders but it's heavy duty and made of metal instead of plastic.

The torpedo weighted steel line comes in either 200 foot or 300 foot rolls. the 200 foot goes down 40 feet and the 300 is 60. If you use 19 strand 30 pound wire behind it, the sinking rate will remain the same. So 200 feet of weighted steel plus 200 feet of 19 strand will get you down to 80 feet and so on. Four hundred feet of copper is usually quite a job to reel back in, but this setup is lighter and easier to reel in. On the other hand, the fish will fight harder because they don't have to fight the heavier copper.

There is absolutely no way 200' of weighted steel line plus an additional 200' of 19 strand wire will be down 80 feet without some sort of drop weight. Absolutely no way

  7. Rob this has been a great forum to read all yr. Congrats to all tje guys who hit the big one. Now i have a question. I used my buck tag during bow. I just read that if you dont use your buck tag during regular season you can use it for any fun loving during muzzle loader. Never knew this was informed by a fellow hunter. Any input. Thanks John

Yes - u can use regular season buck tag to shoot a buck in muzzle

  8. I backed out and giving it time. Not sure if i will wait over night or head back after a fews hours. 55 yard broadside shot. He turned and he ran acrossed the field into the woods and went down. 75 yards from impact. I waited 40 minutes but unfortunately i bumped him on my way out. Good thing was he looked hurt and he looked like he went down again. i marked the blood trail with a stick and backed out. Gonna be a long night.

WTG - you deserve it! I've enjoyed this thread more than any other in LOU history. If you have coyotes, I might just give it a go tonight and at least take another look around 8 or 9 PM. If you bump him again, back out til the AM. What did the blood look like? And no assholes to comment on your shooting time? Amazing!!

Good luck - you will find him for sure

  9. Ok same stand tonight as yesterday.

Doe start filtering out into the field at 4:10. At 4:40 I'm counting doe 8 then 9 and 10 show up as I'm looking at number 10 through the bino's a giant buck enters the field.

He hugs the far edge and I stand and get ready. I have to pick a shot through the branches of the trees on the field edge again. I look to have a clear shot at about 160 yds.

I fire and he still standing fire again and I think I hit him still in the field deer scattering every where but he still there fire a 3rd shot he gets to the edge of the field near some swale grass that I had ranged at 175 yds and I fire a 4th shot and he stops in the grass leaving the field and at the shot his tail goes straight up and starts flickering back and forth very fast.

He looked like he went down just into the grass exiting the field.

I immediately get down and back out get to my jeep and drive to my cousins across the road.

20-30 minutes pass and we head over in his UTV to go look for him.

As we get to the spot where the buck exited the field I think I here a deer jump up. I tell my cousin turn of the UTV and then silence. We look for blood but fine none. I go into the area the I think the deer would be dead and find zero.We search around but its dark and find zero, We get into the UTV and drive around the circular horse track looking for sign and again zero.

I'm thinking I missed but back to the spot I think the deer exited and follow a trail a few yds and find a spot of blood. Then we get the big light and find another bigger spot of coagulated bright blood. We then find a bed right where I though I heard the deer jump from. The deer bedded less then 20 yds from where he exited.

We found some more blood and saw which way it was headed, into some tall swale grass and thick pines so we backed out and will return tomorrow morning to look for him.

Between the tail flicker and a huge buck bedding less than 20 yds from the hit I thinking he has to be hit hard and hurting...either my season will end in a blaze of glory or I'll top of the worst run of luck I've ever had

Good call on backing out - you will find him. Tail flickering can be a response to pain, or a posterior shot - think liver, stomach, etc. Blood with clots is a good sign.

Good luck Dan, I'm very confident you'll have some pics to show us tomorrow of this beast.

  10. attachicon.gif20161027_150139

I think this might be the guy I saw last night. We have elected to give him another year though. The way this gun season it's tough to let him walk!

You should be commended for your discipline in following QDM.

Be safe and good luck - I hope you are rewarded for your dedication to our sport!!
