my one uncle paid a A$$ load of money to biologist/expert to be told what his brother (who lives on the lake) already knew. single hook,6 and 6lb line or smaller. drift a crawler hooked once through the head over submurged islands. use a single split shot to keep contact w/the bottom. stick baits at night are deadly and can trolled during the day parallel to shore. i do well trolling the drop off closest to shore. 3' to10' fow . i've done this 30 yrs and never been skunked. expect bonus fish and watch the weather. the lake can turn poopy on a dime.

i'm 5'8. emma's about38lbs. braques have been around since 1600's. brits came from from braques. she's hunted out west and here in new york. her breeder passed away. ruffinit kennels seem's good. there's a good braque frances breeder in jersy. the coat on braques varies . the boxy build shouldn't. elk run /breeds them larger and i'd stay away from his line.

french dogs are fun. i've got a braque du bourbonais. a great house dog that will hunt. same size as french brits w/short hair. i don't think you'll find an easier dog to train and live with. super mellow inside/close working /tons of point/stamina to hunt as long as u want. they come in several colors.

i went out for a bit. slow and steady. fairly crowded.

i've got mine soaking in saltwater for 3 days. i change the water each day . give a good rinse before cooking.

i think the charge came from the lightning. to be honest,we hauled arse outta there. the old squaw are fun to shoot. ever since my canoe got flipped, and lost my gun , i keep a close eye on the horizon. the old squaw have the most dense feathers i've seen. they are not big birds,but they can take a beating. guess they can dive 200 feet to feed on muscles. chasing cripples is not easy. you owe yourself a hunt. they are suicidal with a string of divers.

just finished taking 5 limits and the lake flipped. lake went from blubird/crap in about 10- 15minutes. friend complained he was shocked touching a rock. i got a good 110v shock picking up ducks from the ice. we heard thunder ,but did not see lightning.

can't say enough good things about my last few encounters with DEC. i've been checked almost every weekend this year. each time the CO's were profesional, and extremely friendly after formalities were completed. one CO even put me on great grouse hotspot. i'm glad to see the resource is being protected.

good god seasquirrel, your reds look like they could eat mine. i'm going to try again on the weekend. i had blue bird skys and dead calm water. ducks were rafted in the middle going nowhere. had a drake land in the spread before legal. these two came in together and didn't make it out.

only had the drake and a hen mallard come in last week.

i small game hunt and WF at beatty point. there's a few deer but, it's the worst place i could think of to try and take a deer. my understanding is that no personel property may left in wma to include stands. all the bradock bay areas get slammed hard by muti use people. leaving a stand is a bad idea IMO . dec will usually let it slide but.... theives will find it and take it.

not sure how true the info i got was. i called dec and they said last week was going to be the last week birds were going to be put out for the season.

i 'm a kent fan as well. sportsman sucks and black cloud hasn't lived up to the hype for me. i need to pick up a few boxes, i'll give'm a try.

the dogs and i having been working harder, and bringing home less. public land hunts have been hard on us. i'm seeing good numbers, just not able to make everything come together

that's amazing. the hunters i've talked to have had hit or miss days. i'm going to hit state land near pulaski this weekend. so far phes and waterfowl for me. grouse and wc have evaded me and my dogs .

hunted lake o . numbers were way down. shot 3 times went 2/3 on drakes. both birds wern't even fully colored up. friend shot a nice black duck.

i started a goose sunday : tenderquick and a handful spices. can't wait,i'm going to give it a week in the bag

the wife usually makes fajitas out of mine. the corned goose sounds bad arse. never made corned beef either. soak in brine ?

snows are alot of work or a game of luck. i used to hunt a lg pond that had 30,000 snows roost on it every night. most days u were lucky to pass shoot a few geese. even gides that have been doing it for years, have a hard time getting it done.

joining a club is the way to go if u can swing it. i'm looking into clubs myself.

braddock bay has two decent spots to hunt phes. hogan rd,and long pond rd. both will make u work for birds. long pond is bigger,lots of hunters,and dog walkers, right next to appt complex. hogan is smaller , but less yahoos running around.

lakeshore is off 104 over by sodus. i've hunted most of the release sites. they really seem to be a crap shoot. catch them on a good day and they can be great. what i've seen lately is kind of unfair. dec lists where birds will be released ,not when. friends of dec officers are told when ,where ,how many. they get first crack at them, and the public gets the left overs. most of the sites are surrounded by water. the birds get hit hard with lg group of guys, with good dogs ,and inside info. a few birds still slip threw the cracks. most birds are released on fridays. i'd hunt right after a release or weekdays and try and locate a bird or two that make it past the weekend crowd. honestly if i had a young dog and money was tight ,i'd catch pigeons or buy a couple of gamefarm birds. pigeon racers will most likely give u a few birds for free .

hunting around roc without a dog is almost pointless IMO. i knock a few down everyyear ,but i have a good dog and work hard at it. shoot me a pm ,and i'll try and get u out if i can. lakeshore wma isn't to far from u ,and i done decent everytime i've gone. good amount waterfowl as well.
