  1. i live on 31. dude is always blazing away. i suck it up and do my own. can be hassle, usually rewarding. with a newborn around, you're not sleeping anyway
  2. congrats, i'm bow hunting the opener. the dogs and i are fired up for grouse and woodcock. got into a good flight of woodcock last weekend.hopefully we find a few this week. been busy lately. geese, tribs, working dogs, flinging arrows. can ' t wait.
  3. i wouldn' t buy a specific turkey gun . any shotgun is going to get the job done. a general purpose 12 will handle turkey target deer ducks.
  4. my son has the 3000. great gun. turkish guns have a long history. the stoger is a turkish knock off of the benelli.it is usually more reliable than the benelli. rather than sue stoger into oblivion, benelli bought the company. amazing value IMO. i haven' t a need for 3.5 inch shells. the 3 inch 3000 has been flawless.
  5. bottom bounce night crawlers over the sunken humps. easy, cheap. # 6 hook,6lb line. i caught hundreds this way as a kid. just add a small split shot to keep contact with the bottom. let the boat drift. 20-30 fow should keep you busy during daytime\summer.
  6. Outstanding, I've been fishing instead. Hopefully I get out before it closes. Dogs are miserable.
  7. Snows are hard period. I used to do well shooting snows coming into and leaving the roost. It was strictly pass shooting. Anyone can diy if the numbers are there. Decoying takes a lot of land and equipment. Snows will stick with a field until the foods gone. You basically have to set up in the fields they are feeding in. You will rarely be able to decoy birds into a field that isn't being used by snows
  8. I've shot 1 in 10 yrs. No rimfire allowed. I'd rate it a 1out of 10. I think you have much better chance of getting a ticket than killing a squirrel. Hands down the worst wma I've hunted .
  9. Empty covers. Did ok on woodcock early. Paying$ for gas and i felt i was doing more harm than good.
  10. finished off a little better. 2/2 on drake buffle heads. little buggers can move in 40+mph wind.
  11. Nice haul. I'm jealous of the cans and brant. The mergs were pretty thick in roc.
  12. Nice haul. I'm jealous of the cans and brant. The mergs were pretty thick in roc.
  13. mojo's been off second season. one bird here, one there ,has been the theme. taken nice birds , but open water isn't easy to come by. anyone knocking down numbers ?
  14. I've got private land access. Worth making the drive?
  15. Hard living in eastern Colorado. I used to kick up some bruisers while running the mutts. Always was too busy chasing elk during the season.
  16. Crap ray, sounds like you had a hell of a season. My doe died instantly. Frontal shot slightly downward., no exit wound she was running balls out . Think we saw each other about the same time. She tried to put on the breaks a half second to late. Whole thing might have have lasted 2 seconds. Short drag to 390 in the background and i was on my way . Snap shooting woodcock paid off. This property gave up several bruisers year.
  17. hell of a deer ray. i personally hate the path deer hunting has taken. farming deer and living in a tree doesn't do it for me . lusting over inches and texas whip it out photos have almost ruined deer hunting IMO. i took a "trophy" sunday. 11 guys worked ther butts off to produce 3 deer seen. patton would have been proud of the planning that went into safe ,effective drive. i was lucky to be on set when 1.5 y/o came through. i'd love to shoot a wall hanger. my goal each season is take excellent table fare . usually young does or button bucks.
  18. Heard a rumor they are done releasing for the year. Something seems fishy to me . I haven't heard of a major catastrophe at the game farm. Numbers are way off from the totals published.
  19. Fox urine or a dirt hole won't stop deer production . A passing vehicle should have less effect than a guy hunting the same stand day after day. Chances are a hunter walking to his stand will cause a greater impact. Proper scouting will identify what deer are on the property. A boat load of coyotes running deer all night will have a negative effect. [ Post made via Android ]
  20. Trappers have to check traps every 24 by law. If he's trapping on land he has about 2 months to get it done. A truck or two shouldn't be a big deal. Or you can watch coyotes explode . He shouldn't have time to muck about. Most days nothing needs to be done to his sets. Deer are attracted to most sets. If he's seeing enough sign to bother trapping, chances are you have a big coyote problem. He should be trapping in open field edges. He shouldn't be disturbing bedding areas. Gas prices are high, coyotes aren't worth much. Nobody wants to check empty traps. I'd bet yotes are lousy on your property.
  21. Any bird dog worth feeding will work.
