  1. Hey guys, thanks for the info. I spoke to my brother yesterday and was emailing a DEC officer who was sending him a ton of data. He is doing the report for a math based class so he needs the actual numbers not just text on the topic. Sounds like an interesting subject and I will be sure to share his findings with all on this site. Thanks again for your help...you guys are great!!! Dave
  2. My brother is a colloege student who is doing a report on the sustainability of the salmon stocking program for Lake Ontario. He has checked the DEC website, The Salmon River Hatchery site as well as others and can't find the info he needs. He needs yearly numbers, the last 10, showing comparisons of lets say fish hatched and released to the money the fishing industry brings in. In other words, data that can show if the stocking program is viable, how good or bad is it, is it proving to be sustainable, and is their a direct relation to the program and the fate of the fishing industry. He has found plenty of sites writing about it but no sites with info that shows actual numbers he can use to make graphs and charts for his reseach paper. Any and all help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you. Dave
  3. Seacat, Not sure what size boat you have but the big winds labor day weekend piled up a pretty good size sandbar as you make the turn out to lake from the channel. I was able to get out sat morning but the water level dropped while I was out there and had a hard time getting back in. I almost had to get out to push and heard many other guys on the radio getting stuck and having to get pulled out. Not sure if anyhing has changed since last sat but just a heads up. Dave
  4. Dave, I bought the unit as a core pack with the 50/200 dual frequency transducer. The gain is just 2-3 notches over factory setting but cant remember for sure right now since im out of sandy pond and still waiting for salmon to show up before we fish regularly. We fished the Atommik challenge in Oswego, we were in 300+ fow and noticed a bar on the screen around 150-175ft down if I remember correctly. We were curious as to what it was so we dropped the probe down and in one direction speed was 3+mph and in the other it was less than 1mph. I was pretty impressed that the unit was able to pick that up. Dave
  5. I have the 4208, the satellite overlay is incredible. I think the fishfinder is better than ok. I can pick up current lines, thermocline and anything else down there. I bought mine while visiting Florida at Bethel marine electronics. These guys sell Raymarine, Furno and others. I was going to buy the Raymarine (which was more expensive) but these guys talked me out of it by running them side by side and showing how much easier the Garmin was to use. Just got it last year so I havent learned everything it does yet but it already does alot more than I need. As far as the touchscreen I would stay away. I wanted it too but with was talked out of it as well. I have had some first timers on my boat and they love to touch the screen and leave fingerprints and smudges all over it now, cant imagine a touchscreen and having to clean it all the time. Hope this helps somewhat. Dave
  6. Thanks for changing that Tom!! BTW 28.7LB salmon caught on the 42nd spinny and A-TOM-MIK fly combo I got from you earlier this year. Keep making the best flies on the market!!!!!!!!!! Dave
  7. I have 2, 5 gallon tanks full in my shed. They have been there for about 1 month. Was told with ethanol in the fuel and constant temp changes the plastic tanks would lead to condensation and water build up in the tanks. Is there any truth to this? Can the fuel still be used? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dave
  8. Bob Just a heads up, they have the dredger its sitting at Greene Point marina now. They are not allowed to dredge until at least July 15 and I am pretty sure they are planning on doing it as close as possible to this date so hopefuly it will be done by the time you get up there. Dave
  9. Bob, It is open. I was able to get my 25ft Baha out last weekend. Its not marked real well though so you kinda have to know the "path" to take. Stick close to red through the pond then green after making the turn to the lake. Let me know if I can help you out in any way. Dave
  10. Gambler, Gill-T Thanks guys I appreciate the help! Dave
  11. Gambler, Dont mean to bother you but could add what settings you are running the inner and outer dipseys at? Thank You Dave
  12. Had a lot of luck with both copper and dipsys last year. I would run the copper off one side and dipsy on the other. Now i am getting greedy and would like to run a copper and dipsy together on both sides. Was wondering if someone could give me some advice on the best way to do this. Thanks in advance, Dave

  15. I would love to stop by and see it. I meant 70 made with the flybridge. Youre right it did move right along pushed 50 if I remember correctly, gas was much cheaper back then.
  16. Gray, My dad bought the boat from Hutchinsons Boat works in 1000 islands, it was 2 years old the first owner used it as a "dingy" to get to his island. My dad was a charter captain out of Greene Point, Sandy Pond. I was about 12 at the time and my father and I rigged it all up and absolutely loved it, to be sure it is the same one had Raytheon radar with the display in front of captain and Raytheon depth finder in front of passenger if its still there. When he bought it they said only like 70 made with the hardtop and it was 1 of 2 in NYS at the time I think the actual model was a Sportfisherman. Im pretty sure it is the same one. He had the name Jolly Rogers painted on the back not sure if its still visible at all. He did have bimini top but sold the boat in 95 or so with all the other equipment. Not sure what the other owner did with the boat after. But seeing the pics stirred up alot of great emotions and memories, it was truley an awesome boat in all aspects. Hope to see you on the water sometime. Dave
  17. Seasquirrel, Nice boat! That was my fathers back in the late 80's early 90's. I have alot of great memories from that boat! Hope it serves you as well as it did us. Dave
  18. Can you please tell where and when this show is. Thanks, Dave

  20. 1. white/green dots 2. white/green dots 3. white/green dots YES...it was that good!!
  21. I am also out of the pond, Green Point. I was out all weekend basically straight out worked back and forth between the dunes 115-140fow. Anything green and white was firing 100-120 down although best results were on wire back 350-400ft. Kinda slow but we ended up 6 for 15 or so, had one straighten an Atomik fly hook right out another broke the leader so there are some big ones around. Hopes this helps. We will be back up fri for sure maybe earlier work pending, boat name Jolly Rogers we scan most channels so if you want to give a call just say what channel you are on. Good luck. Dave
  22. Hey guys, Haven't been fishing since the early 90's and then I was just a kid reeling in fish while my father did all the work. Was just wondering what speed is best at the ball for spindoctors and j-plugs. Thanks for any advice you can give. Dave
