  1. Hey Brad, does your dad and uncle still think your a genius;) Glad to see your having luck. Its all about the mojo! We'll have to get out next year when I have a few toys on the boat to show you! [ Post made via Android ]
  2. Yes it was nice to put a face to a name. Tell Frank thanks for helping me launch my boat since i was flying solo. I made a run south to I think it call Boyd point, about 1 mile north of the bluff on the west side. The fish and bait were stacked up there. At one point I had a triple on and that made things interesting to say the least going into the that wind! Went 11 for 13 with biggest fish just under 5 lb. The fish seemed to get lock jaw around 8:30 but the graph still looked the same as it did in the morning. I tried everything to those fish to keep biting! Most fish came on 130 rigger with mtn dew sd with a white fly, followed by the 290 dipsey with pretty much the same set up. After 9 am I even tried slowing down and running Suttons and flashers with no takers. Can't wait till get back out there in March and April when it's not stop action!

  6. I'll start off with the bad. Heard a noise while driving through Geneva in front of Hobart, though it was my brakes, didn't see anything in mirror. Got to the chamber and found that my port side down rigger was missing. I just fueled up at the mobile on 5&20 in Geneva and it was there then, so the noise I heard was it hitting the road. There was a whitish Ford super duty in the left lane pulling bass boat behind me about 300 yards and he made an immediate left turn on a side street. I'm sure he now owns a new cannon down rigger On with the good. left the dock at about 6:45. Took Kevin (BlueGhost) out today and we made a run south of Belhurst. Picked up a few in the 4-5lb range and we smaller. I just brought in the 290 dipsey to check and then started setting it back out got down around 260 and it started ripping, tightened drag and handed off to Kevin and still did not stop screaming till about 450 foot. cleared the lead core and started making a turn around because it was still pulling drag. get the fish close and then the 95 rigger pops, 6lb laker. See something bouncing on the other dipsey but left it in. finally get Kevins fish in and the high fives begin!! Scaled the fish at 15.14lb and was about an inch longer then my 36" tape. pulled in the other dipsey with a 2lb laker on it. Ended the day at 10:45 with 7 fish. Most fish on the 290 dipsey with mtn sd paired with white fly. also took fish on the 270 dipsey with same combo and the 95 rigger with green dot sd paired with white fly. fished from 85-125 fow.
  7. Dan my partner from the Seneca Shootout caught this 13+lb brown. Fishing the same north end area we fished in the shootout. fish came on rigger parked at 85 in 120fow with DW SS. fishing was good with several lakers in the 8-9 lb range. most lakers came on white sd/white fly. We have caught several nice browns this year and they all have beautiful color! its been a great year on Seneca for big fish!
  8. Great job! Did you pick the bows up in the top 40. I've been getting the bows down deep. I can't get those fish in the top of the column to hit. [ Post made via Android ]
  9. Anybody have any info on the derby out of Hammondsport Labor Day weekend?
  10. Took an evening trip to check my low oil pressure issue on the boat is fixed. Fished the northeast end of the lake. Went 5-5 with 4 lakers and 1 small rainbow. Lakers were on mtn sd with big weenie window licker on the dipsey out 290. Rainbow came 50' down on the rigger with r&r spoon, Dan you know the one! Fished in the 85-130 range. Bait and lots of marks in our gas the 30-50 range but couldn't get anything going. Fleas were non existent and weeds were very minimal. [ Post made via Android ]
  11. we might have been a little farther north than that
  12. Nick, we didn't think it would take an hour from north of Sampson to the dock!! We were sweating bullets!
  13. Thanks Nick for posting the video for me. Should of brought my video camera. It was a cool sight!
  14. I have to agree with everyone else that the shootout was a great success! Nick you did a great job and I hope its something that grows. I might have a bias opinion, but from the shotgun start to the food, the sponsors, and the competitors, it was great! Our day started out with a 30 min boat ride north and set up looking for our silver fish. We found lots of small landlocks and rainbows. We did find a 7lb brown and a 2lb rainbow but could only find small 4-5lb lakers mixed in. At 11:30 we made the decision to make another 15 min run north to increase our lakers, and it was the right move. We did not even have the 2nd rod set and the first fires and it was game on till 2:40 with the fish ranging from 7-10lbs. Rods were in the boat by 2:50 and pulled into the weigh in with 2 minutes to spare. I have a video of the start but can't figure out how to post, anybody now how, its on youtube.
  15. We'll get together soon Pete! [ Post made via Android ]

  17. I 'm flying solo on Sunday, anybody wanna go? [ Post made via Android ]
  18. Ray I hope you didn't take my post as a jab towards you because it wasn't. Everybody enjoys ALL your post! I was hoping for some company during the shootout since I'll probably be the only boat thats not getting any info from somebody!! I'll be losing some fishing time, but I don't know the south end
  19. Ray I thought info was what this forum was all about. There used to be alot of people giving reports and that seems to be dwindling. This forum has helped me become a much better fisherman and I feel i've help several people with answering emails, pm's and actually taking them out. Just giving back! Nick the money order will be in the mail Friday and actually may have another boat interested, i'll let you know. [ Post made via Android ]
  20. Beautiful bow Mike! That point has produced some awesome bows this year. And yes the fleas are bad on that lake already. [ Post made via Android ]
  21. Had 2 first time trout fisherman today and one of my crew members. Made a quick run south from Geneva at 5:30. fished the east side in 70-90 fow. Lots of good marks and bait. We went 11-13 all lakers except a nice 5-6lb landlock. All the lakers we fairly short, fat, and fought awesome. We were strictly laker fishing today scouting for the Seneca Shootout. We kept 5 fish for the guys to take home. Our bag ended up weighing 43.9lb. Man is it going to be a long run from Watkins The biggest was just under 11lbs. The 250 dipsey with white/green sd and fly took 2 fish. The rigger set at 63 with mtn sd and a green fly took 2, rigger at 55 took the landlock and the 200 dipsey with sd fly took 2. Off the water by 9:30. One of the first timers first fish was the 10lb laker, he is hooked for life!! All they talked about is when will they be able to get out again! Tied in 30lb big game and not a flea on the rigger lines The dipseys picked up very little and the weeds were very minimal.
  22. Pokepole, don't old school tactics always work?? Shouldn't need to pre fish right? [ Post made via Android ]
  23. Fished the northeast side today with a buddy, his son, and his father in law from PA. Left the dock at 5:15 and it was fast pace action till 7:30, just like the past few weeks and then shut right down. Ended up 8 for 11, 2 rainbows and rest were lakers. We caught 2 lakers over 30" that were released and keep the ones in the pictures for cookout this afternoon. Also released the other rainbow that we scaled at 6.3lb. The rainbows were caught early and came on green/white sd with small white fly set at 63 on the rigger over 85 fow. The 200 dipsey only took 1 fish with the 120 dipsey took 1 laker. Could not get a spoon bite. used the other rigger from 25 down to 80fow with spoons and sd/fly but could not get anything else going. still good marks and bait in that area 70 -90 fow, but the bite dies by 8. last release of the day came at 8:20 on the 63 rigger and started to pull drag, had rod bent right over and was just head shaking for at least 2 minutes, started to get some line on him, head shook hard a couple more times and then came unglued Would of at least like to of seen him. pulled all rods at 8:30.
  24. Vicarious, Good to see you back in town getting some fishing in! I don't think tying directly to the line is deal breaker. I would do what your doing but try to the inside or outside of that bait and fish your seeing. Lately the early early bit is good and then shuts down. The lakes are setting up and the fishing will pick up in the coming weeks.
