  1. We had a great time too! And I agree, the fishing was tough. We couldn't find the pigs we had been playing with for the last three or four weeks, and we don't have a temp probe (yet) so we were guessing. I'm just glade Kade got one big enough to get him on the board. That boy was so excited to go home and show his mom and twin sister all the stuff he won. Had a hard time gettin' him settled down for bed. It was also nice to put some names and faces together. And a special Thank You to Splitshot...you made Kade's day! Kyle
  2. Kade and I are in...but we're gonna have to hit it fast and furious...I have to work until noon on Saturday...gonna have to pray to the fish gods that we get lucky and set up on the fish. It'll still be a lot of fun regardless. Hopefully we can find a few of the fish we've been playin' with the last few weeks and get Kade on the board. See y'all on the water. Kyle
  3. Do we have to register in person at Bear's, or can we register by mail, phone? Kyle
  4. I was just starting to think we were done with them...ugh!!! Kyle
  5. Kade & I fished from 2:00 - 5:30 with Bruce. Slow day with not much on the screen. Kade even searched Bruce's goody bag at one point to make sure he wasn't packin' any bananas. Fished from T-Falls south to Myers and back up past the scout camp. We did manage two nice lakers and an almost legal fat salmon. And holy cow were the fleas bad...didn't get into them that bad all summer! Had to stand on top of the outboard and clear them for Kade as he was reelin' fish in. Oh well, beautiful day to be out on the water. Kyle
  6. Nice report Sean. It amazes me everytime we're out on the water how rude and inconsiderate some boaters are, either passing other boats a lot closer than necessary, or buzzing the shore just off the ends of the docks bashing every boat that is tied up against the docks. And then there's the blow boats...won't even go there. Kyle
  7. rshubuck...try loosening your drag to the point that you really need to work to gain line and don't use much of a hook set if any. Mouths are soft this time of year, and rip out easily unless they're hooked deep or in bone. Kyle
  8. Yeah...that would be an understatement! Kade loves to fish. He meets me in the driveway everynight when I get home from work with rod in hand, ready to go somewhere. What makes these times even more special is that Kade is handicapped. He's got a pretty tough life both now and ahead of him, and to see him as happy as he is when he's fishing...well, just doesn't get any better. Kyle
  9. Kade and I took one of the guys who works for me out and had a blast. Wasn't sure how the lake would be given the wind report...it was shockingly calm. We fished from 12:00 to 5:30 putting 6 lakers and 3 salmon in the boat. Dropped a couple salmon and a handful of lakers behind the boat and had numerous short strikes on the dipsy rods. Kade fought every fish only passing the rods off for a brief rest every now and then before snatching them back. Thought he was gonna throw Ernie overboard once when Ernie didn't give him the rod back as quick as Kade thought he should. Dipsys with f/f did most of the work with only 3 fish on the riggers. Kade is getting excited about fishing the B&B tourny...hopefully the weather will cooperate that weekend. Kyle
  10. Kade and I fished out of T-Falls with my bro-in-law yesturday from 1:00 - 5:30. Despite the heat, we went 7/11 plus a couple empty releases on the riggers. All lakers. F/F off the dipsys were hot for us. All were down @ 80' over 90 - 150 fow. Kyle
  11. As a side note...depending on the length of your dipsy rods, you may want to try and increase the length from dipsy to flasher a bit. I run my flashers 5' to 6' behind the dipsy and fly 18" to 24" behind the flasher. With 10' rods, I can just get them out beyond the riggers (riggers straight out the side 42" booms) when setting up, and get fish to the back of the boat without too much trouble. Kyle
  12. I'm no expert on dipsys...but I start with them out @ 165' and 185' on 2 or 3 setting. If no hits, I'll run the 165' dipsy out to @200'. I'll keep alternately running them out until I start taking hits. If no hits by the time I get them out to around 265', I'll pull them, maybe change colors, and start over up @ 165'. I also occasionally make quick sharp turns rather than just a lazy S pattern. Not to the extent that you risk tangling lines, just a 3 or 4 second hard crank on the wheel then back straight. Quite often it will trigger a strike. Keep at it, it took us a while before we had much success with them, now we catch more fish off dipsys than we do the riggers. Kyle
  13. We were running the riggers at 40' and 60' with sliders on them. Saw quite a few fish on sonar in that range while we were setting up out over 250 fow. After we got set up, I swung in shallow to see where the mag dipsys were running(only second time with the mags). We got in to 80 - 90 fow and all hell broke loose with the dipsy rods, a lot of lakers on the bottom, not much bait or anything else up high. We decided to stay and play with the lakers. I told Joe we could move out over deeper water and try to find the salmon if he really wanted one for the grill, but we decided to stay and watch Kade play with the lakers. I'm betting the salmon were out over deeper water. All the lakers we caught were healthy, heavy, unmarked fish...one of the best quickie evening trips we've had. Kyle
  14. Yeah...sounds like Sean had 'em all "educated" on the riggers by the time we got there. Kyle
  15. Quick trip last night with Kaden and my brother-in-law. Brother-in-law was late meeting us at T-Falls, so we only ended up fishing from 7-8:00 pm. Couldn't get anything going on spoons off the riggers, but the mag dipseys with spinnies and flies were hot. Went 4/7. First fish broke the swivel behind the dipsey. Second fish nobody home. Next three we got in the boat. Finished off with a double, one of which wrapped himself around the rigger cable and freed itself. Put four 8-10 lb lakers in the boat. Kade had an hour of non stop fish fighting, Uncle Joe was drivin', and al I was doin' was handing Kade the rods and resetting after fish. What a night! Kyle
  16. We had the same experience on Sunday...scattered fish, not many willing participants, and covered a lot of water to get a handful of fish. Not complaining tho...all in all, beautiful day at church. Kyle
  17. My son, Kaden, and I launched out of T-Falls around 10:30am, worked the west side going north, crossed over to AES, down to Meyers, and back up to AES. Marked a fair amount of suspended singles, but couldn't seem to get on any schools of fish. We picked a few 60-80' down over 200-320 fow. Also picked a few off the bottom in 60-80 fow between Meyers and AES. Put 4 lakers and 1 hitch-hiker salmon in the boat, and dropped a few more. Slow day, but busy enough to keep Captain Kade happy. Everything came on flies, couldn't buy a hit on a spoon or stickbait. This one never so much as twitched the dipsy rod. I looked back and the line was going straight down, watched it for about five minutes and finally decided to see what was up. He must have grabbed it and just swam along under the boat. Kade's catch-of-the-day. Kyle
  18. Took the wife out Sat afternoon. Fished from 2:30-6:00. Set up just south of the yacht club out in the middle and went north almost to T-falls. Picked up 5 small salmon on the riggers down 50 - 60 ft. Missed a couple on the dipsey out 175 ft. Found this beauty just north of Meyers on dipsey out 175 ft in 290 fow. Had an awesome time, can't think of a better way to spend our 17th anniversary. Kyle
  19. Caught this one at my Dad's pond last night. We were fishing for channel cats with chicken livers and not having any action. I decided to change to lures and fish for bass. This guy grabbed the liver as I was reeling it in, skimming it across the surface. Must have looked like a frog. Kyle
  20. Made a quick trip to cayuga last night with a couple guys from work, one's daughter, and my son Kade. Launched at T-Falls and set up just south of Camp Barton trolling north. We turned 6 fish between 7:00 and 8:30, but only put 3 in the boat. Missed one off a slider on one rigger, dropped a decent LL at the back of the boat, released a big laker 30' behind the boat after it wore out both 8 year olds. Well...they might have wore each other out wrestlin' over the rod. Put 1 laker, a small brown, and a small LL in the boat. Beautiful evening on the water, and a lot of laughs watchin' the kids fight fish. We were zig zagging between 55' and 100' fow. Kyle
