Our annual chapter 69 waneta tourney will take place this weekend with sign up from 6-7am at the boat launch. Tourney will run from 7am to 3pm and be a normal musky Inc points tourney with side big fish pot .

Felt bad for this poor fish as I've never seen one attach in the gills. Nasty creatures they are, tried grabbing it to kill it but detached in the nick of time to save it's own life.

As for areas, long point to Bell tower out in the open water has been best for us 10 to 15 down over that 30 to 35 fow, at 39 muskies so far for the boat this summer running this pattern.

Best wishes and make sure to have release tools in the boat= hook cutters, long pliers etc.

So trolling Chautauqua , 2 different approaches bc I view the North end and South end as different lakes bc the depths are so drastically different.

The North end bite has been good all summer with guys running baits 10 to 20' down from 4.2 to 4.8mph. Shad style baits have proven to be best this year for us. Lots of floating weeds and that's the reason for rod tip under the water to catch weeds before they make it to your lure.

The south end was too hot to fish but Saturday we had 77 degree water temps so it's fishable again, down south shorter lines work best bc it's not as deep like 25 to 45 back on 5" bakers.

Colors like perch and Goldie's produce daily.

Fish seem to turn on n off quickly. Friday evening we had 4 in 90 minutes with 7.5" baits doing best.

With water temps increasing to that 80 degree point soon, would the tourney still go on if its above that 80 degree point?

My son Colton asked me what i wanted for my birthday, I told him I wanted him to get a fish, so we went out.

Despite a flat tire 100' from the launch , and having to run 35 miles round trip for a spare and other mishaps (rope around the prop among them) my main man Colton did it! Were only able to fish for 2 hours but he made my bday so special for me.

What a memorable evening, full of ups n downs but we kept our heads and remained positive. What a gift my son gave me- proud poppa moment for sure! Fish went airborne a few times n fought hard for him, what a site to see!

Great turn despite the rainy start, close to 100 people turned out to support our club and make it what it will become! Fish were caught, had a ton of help putting this event together , all in all- great event gentlemen!

Trolling seemed to be the key as 1st and 2nd were taken that way. If anyone had any extra pics, please post. Congrats to many time champs John Haffner and Bryan Farmer with 1st, father son team of Kevin n Drew Hines for 2nd and another father son team of Mark Enrico for 3rd.

Need to clarify that we are having the same rules as last year. Best 3 fish over 30" to win.

If lightning occurs, plz use caution and stop til it's over but tourney will not be rescheduled bc of it

Best 3 fish over 40 like last years tourney. As for bad weather, looks like rain and wont cancel for that but lightning is another thing all together. Will call the other members today to discuss that and #s of fish . Good points sir.

No, I was gonna then I took off my fingertip. Lost my steam, baits r keeping me busy but wanted to do like 10 trips in June and the musky boys shoot til my son gets outta school to help upgrade supplies. Idk..... got all my certifications but ........ lost steam with the injury.
