  1. 65lb or 80lb braid is most common along with a quality leader of heavier strength for casting .

For fall casting- mid sept to ice up is best imo. As for baits, old classics like a suick r easily available and have tricked 1000s of fish along with the many rubber baits now days that are easy to fish .

Best luck n hope u get to check this one off Ur bucket list and trust me on this- have some bolt cutters in Ur boat.

  2. Unless your from Wisconsin where the history of soaking suckers is old as the wind and still widely used today as the best way to catch a fall fatty in their opinion out there.

Idk if the majority are against it as 1000s of anglers will be having meat hanging off their boat so idk how this can be said but it's funny those same live bait anglers frown upon trolling. Certain areas of the country fish certain ways so no way to say most r against it as only know how our region feels.

We just don't have that strong of a traditional live bait mentality even though reading history about Chautauqua makes it seem that the Ole commercial fisherman used live bait almost exclusively but those were catch n kill days for profit.

Be responsible , do a lil research about live baiting and do your best bud.

  3. Does anyone change they're game in order to justify fishing the warmer temps? From most of my expiriences (which are very minimal compared to allot of you guys), if handling the fish and taking the photo is removed from the equation the fish seem to regulate and recover just fine. It's the fish that are handled that I've spent 30-45 minutes with.
Just curious to hear others points of view and tactics for the couple high temp months we get here.

People who do still fish, most just don't take em outta the water but deep trolling is deadly to the fish bc of the change in water temps. I say if u do fish at high temps, fish shallow but I just stay away.
