  1. I don't think anyone guides  for muskies on Conesus. Just not very productive there even though they have been stocking tiger musky there for quite a while. But it all depends on what you are looking for; musky, tiger musky, size, numbers, potential for success, first musky, learning a particular body of water, learning in general, etc. You will most likely never meet all those goals in one trip.

Chautauqua Lake, Waneta Lake and Otisco Lake are probably your best choices to have a good chance of catching one. It might be tough to limit yourself to one date because many guides already have a lot of dates booked. St. Lawrence River if you want to catch a monster, but that may take many days, hours or even years to accomplish.

U didn't recommend one person with that whole response amazingly.

  2. Couldn't take it a day longer n headed down south just to show up peak spawn.

Only fish I got to bite were the lil ones not taking part in the breeding. Did see a mid 40s casting and fish actually doing the dirty in the shallows . Got 4 dinks n a catfish. Had to get out and scratch that itch.

All fish came on a 8' flat running 6' of line and even though I didn't get the fish I wanted, feel way better now.20170413_090122.thumb.jpg.8f6835b88f4783d850d70c25e0949505.jpg20170413_130909.thumb.jpg.9272a2f4161a7c2bbf38464382f8f1df.jpg20170413_140705.thumb.jpg.7d275f431805cd8e8c09a9c04411d604.jpg20170414_100619.thumb.jpg.f57fc37c3d0134ca7150035ef7f4045e.jpg20170414_152304.thumb.jpg.a013c5c9f26b08a19a9f83895c400268.jpg20170414_152922.thumb.jpg.d9e5972396b504b35058e91042db1aea.jpg20170414_195153.thumb.jpg.a03c7535282eda22cf45cf51d57c7fc0.jpg

  3. Couldn't get out to the lake on Tuesday bc of waves so I took a trip around i bay. Got this brown off German village along with a smaller one that was off the Newport yaht club. I grew up in Irondequoit and browns r more common than u think imo.

Both fish ate clown scatter raps. Made 2 trips around the bay n called it quits. 20170405_132420.thumb.jpg.7af695a589c9b78edc947b8659af2cac.jpg

  4. I don't understand Ur thinking kaptag, not like I'm asking u to babysit my kid. Sux u don't share the same enthusiasm as I do and maybe that's why Ur kid doesn't fish and chose a different path.

I know I'll never make everyone happy and this proves it but I have a belief that we need to leave things better than we found it and to me this is how it grows organically but don't worry Kaptag- fat boy here will eat Ur ice cream for ya!

Bty. What's wrong with family day and an ice cream social? Sounds like a good time to me but if u think this takes away from a competitive tournament, I apologize.

  5. I agree, the next generation is why we do all this isnt it? Thanks for the support, I'll run it by the club next chance I get.

I also want a kids only raffle table where each n every kid gets a ticket n an item to bring home and we are working on getting some rod n reel combos for the kiddies behind the scenes currently.

I'll also be serving ice cream for all the kids (and the not so kids like myself) after each tournament. Happy to do so!

  6. Thanks for the pics and replies! This helps a lot. I plan on trying a bunch of stuff and see what i like. Will that stuff work with smaller jerk baits like bass style husky jerks or would it be too heavy?

These single stand wire leaders in lighter wire would be perfect for those smaller baits imo.

And your very welcome, anything I can do to help! Happy to do so.

  7. I don't fish for those big bad guys but do any of you use titanium wire or nickel/titanium? Strong as heck, doesn't corrode, doesn't rust, thinner diameter for the pound test than steel, harder to bite through etc.Just wondering....haven't heard anyone mention it. I've used it in salt water with good results and for pike.

Since titanium can't be bent like normal wire, u have to rely on crimps and is why I won't use them. Crimps fail, plain n simple. If it hasn't happened to you yet, just give it time.

  8. Flouro 80lb which r my trolling leaders - i just use a clinch knot with 4 turns, add a drop of super glue and burn the tag end so it mushrooms. Easy and is why I will NEVER pay for another leader in my life.

Ideally I'd nail knot it but I've never had an issue and it let's me make leaders on the fly.

I hope I helped a lil but if ya need a few leaders, happy to bring a few for ya when I go to otisco.

  9. So, this is 240lb single strand. I get around 20 leaders made outta a 4 dollar pack of wire, do the math (it's cheap).

I use jewelry pliers from Michaels to do my bends and it works well imo.

Here's some pics of how I do it and all I need to do is add a snap on one end for my jerkbait leaders but if u wanted , just add a swivel for a bucktail leader on one side n a snap on the other. This way, when a leader is bent or weakened, 50 cents and 1 min later Ur back in the game.

I will say it again, just make sure Ur leader is longer than Ur lure.

  10. I'll go take a pic, I use jewelry pliers for the bend on wire and if the lure doesn't spin then imo, the casting leader doesn't need a swivel. My jerkbait leaders r just a piece of wire (always make sure Ur casting leaders is a few inches longer than Ur lure so if it hangs on the hooks, Ur main line won't fray) and a snap. A swivel will cause Ur leader to sink when the bait is paused hanging up in the hooks.
