  1. The head of the DEC does not want this passed, so the governor will let the bill get pocket vetoed. the NYS fish and game laws would have to be rewriten if it was passed and that would create more work for people who do not like to do work.

You're correct sir!. You can just about guarantee that this bill will not be signed by this governor or it would have been already. This is basically what I said a while back. If you did any research on this bill the DEC head was always against passing this bill. It's amazing how 1 person can influence against signing. This state will never cease to amaze me.

  2. And the Governor went on vacation today. So for the next 14 daqys, there won't be any action on this. It has been on his desk for 10 days. That means a 6 day time period left to sign it.

It totally amazes me when a new Anti Gun law can get enacted in just two weeks, and we can't get an extra line for fishing or a budget passed on time.

How long have you lived in NY? You shouldn't be surprised at all. Unless you're lining the pockets of this legislature the average man or woman doesn't stand a chance.

  3. NYS law states:

While the Legislature is in session, the Governor has 10 days (not counting Sundays) to sign or veto bills passed by both houses. Signed bills become law; vetoed bills do not. However, the Governor's failure to sign or veto a bill within the 10-day period means that it becomes law automatically. Vetoed bills are returned to the house that first passed them, together with a statement of the reason for their disapproval. A vetoed bill can become law if two-thirds of the members of each house vote to override the Governor's veto.

If a bill is sent to the Governor when the Legislature is out of session, the rules are a bit different. At such times, the Governor has 30 days in which to make a decision, and failure to act ("pocket veto") has the same effect as a veto

The bill was sent to the Gov on 8/5. If the Legistaure is in session and I believe it is this should become law on 8/16

Where did you get that info? From what I can see the legislature hasn't been in session since June 21.

  4. Any update welcome. A few years ago I asked if anyone had a solution that worked. Someone responded: "take up golf". I'll never forget that sage advice. I've tried all kinds of lines.....fle flicker, etc. Just curious if the fleas are still there or not.

20 lb flea flicker works great. I never had fleas attach to this line. You don't need 30 lb because 20 is good enough.

  5. well ya could drive to oak orchard ,olcott,(west end) if its a west wind, just remember the evening bite 4pm till dark, can and will outfish the morning bite 2 to 1 (usually) so ya ant gotta get on the road from catfish at o dark thirty. and Captians cove probly will have room for ya to lay yer head down so ya dont have to run to base camp after a long day..

Ya gotthe fingerlakes south , sodus bay a tad west and if the lake lays down then pop out the chute ( if ya go N/W ya get to deeper water faster)

WTG Ray! Hopefully, sum one hear will tranlate waht yu jus told him!

  6. Thanks for the compliments guys but I was just lucky enough to drag a bait by that brutes nose.

    Here's the story..

We were fishing straight north of the Oak on the 29 line. Because of the current my best angle was 30 degrees on my north pass and 210 for the south. I had a set of DW green eyed ghosts on the port out down with a free slider set at 60 feet about 12 feet off the ball. The stbd side had a gold spook on a free slider over a gold 42 second set at 50 feet. This is the same spoon setup I've run for about 3 weeks now.

We had a good flurry of kings to start the morning but the current quickly pushed us about 2 miles west of our "spot". We things slowed down I did the long sloowwww easterly troll to get back to my waypoints. As we got near the area rods started firing again and we were back on track. When the port out down went off and the fish started peeling line I thought it was just another good king. However, when we finally for him stopped at about 200 yards my client simply couldn't get any line back. We pulled one of our coppers and started a turn toward the fish. The whole time I was thinking the fish was foul hooked because there wasn't the typical head shaking or racing around....just a lot of dogging. When the fish finally got close to the boat it still wanted to stay deep and dog...like a foul hooked fish. Some nifty boat maneuvering finally brought the fish to the surface and Capt. Chris

Vogt (UBetcha) who was mating for me slipped the net under him. When the fish hot the deck I simply shook my head qnd said...."Well...you saved $10 each on a derby ticket and what would you do with $4000 anyway?!?"

Its a great fish and clearly shows what potential Lake Ontario has. Hopefully it will spark more interest in fishing Lake O and make more people think about buying that derby ticket. You simply never know. The very next fish you hook could be the fish of a lifetime!

    Good luck everyone!

What derby is going on now that they lost out on 4000 dollars?

  7. One more week for them to get this signed and make the best vacation ever for me. I had hoped this would have been signed long ago and I wouldn't even be thinking about it right now.

Still hoping to run three rods this yr. One week to go....................

    Spike

Don't count on it! Lol. There has been so much misinformation about this bill going here, being there etc.... I mean come on already! Libous can't even tell us when the bill will be on the governor's desk! What kind of nonsense is that! I'll remember this when it's time for me to vote. He's from my district!

  8. I sent a e-mail to Senator Thomas W. Libous (his Bill) on 7-17-2011 just got a reply a few minutes ago  .....
    Thanks for the email, Ed.

The 3-rod rule bill isn’t on the Governor’s desk yet, but it’s scheduled to be delivered soon.

I’m hoping he signs it. Keep your fingers crossed.

    Best wishes,

    Tom

From what I read the legislature isn't coming back to session until 2012? Does the governor do the same? If that's the case nothing will be passed until next year.

  9. I have a doctor friend who will be going to Skaneateles lake for a few days and does not have a boat and would like to do some shore fishing for trout, bass etc... whatever he can get... I can't help him out with this lake since I have never fished it. Any suggestions on what part of the lake this might be feasible? Species he can target? Types of bait to use? Any help would be appreciated.

  10. What the H.....

Are they on a month vacation.....oops did I have to ask

Now that is just stupid, don't know how that surprises anyone :dull:...10 days it automatically becomes law

30 days of ignorance vetos it? Who made that stupid law.

    [ Post made via Android ] Android.png

Doesn't surprise me in the least. There are plenty of stupid laws here to go around many times over. That's why we are in the shape we are in in this state. From what I read in one of the posts here the bill hasn't even reached the governor's desk yet. It wouldn't surprise me at all if this bill goes nowhere.

  11. I checked out my profession and my wife's profession -- both with jobs available BUT......... about a $47,000 pay cut between the 2 of us --- NO THANKS!!!

Our taxes may be high -- but not that high -- plus how big are the fish there??

You would think that pay would be higher to attract employess -- think again -- Alaska looks better - warmer - higher pay - bigger fish!!!

I can understand your point if you already have a good job. The poster was just relaying some info for those who might be out of a job. There is a difference!
