The Velcro stick works better than most things I’ve tried. Hold the line tight and “saw” the Velcro across the line versus sliding it up and down. I’ve found this to work better for me

What a day. 14 boats took out 30+ vets and volunteers. Tally was 77 fish landed, 139 bites, and one hell of a good time. From the minute rods were set the radio was alive with hookups and fish being landed by our group.
I went 8 for 10 with my 2 Vets, AJ and Delmar.
We fished waters just west of the chute between 100-140 FOW. We had 2 doubles and my dipsy program accounted for 6 of our 10 fish we had on. Dipsys out 250 and 275 both pulling white/green dot spinnies with Stud Flys and Hammers were hot. Riggers at 50,65,77, and 80 also took fish. Matador paddle with sweet pea fly, green jean spoon, and 11” cannonball rig meat rig were my rigger setups that produced bites.
Everyone caught fish and it truly was a terrific day for all boats, veterans, volunteers, and captains involved

You can use size 32. In rougher conditions or pulling big paddles you may need to double them up

It is a 1940s military lifejacket that was loaded with shark repellant.
“ The Bureau of Ships issued interim specification R51S48 (INT), Shark Chaser (Life Jacket) on 15 June 1944. The Packet designed for individual use consisted of a 5 ½ oz. cake of repellent in a cotton bag protected by a blue outer envelope made from a vinyl-copolymer-coated fabric. The unit measures 8 ½” x 4 ½” x ¾” with cotton tie tapes to attach to inflatable life preservers and a lanyard with safety pin for use with kapok type life vests. The unit functions in the same manner as the dye markers but the chemical bag can be returned and secured by a snap fastener on the outer envelope. The chemical cake is composed of 76% dyestuff, 19% copper acetate, and 5% soluble wax binder. Specification R51S48 Shark Chaser (Life Jacket) was standardized on October 1st 1945. Until this time the shark chaser was considered experimental.”

I would mount on Port side opposite of transducers. A swivel base makes string easier as you can swing it sideways if need be. Be careful with a 3’ boom that there will be enough clearance if the current swings the downrigger cable towards the motor it will clear the prop. The only time it may be an issue is when you encounter big waves which cause your cable angle to change drastically

Gold backed spoons, smaller in size, extra long leads, stickbaits in black/silver and brown/gold are my go to for clear water. But as stated above clear water is TOUGH

Use Kosher salt. dump the salt in a ziplock bag and then put meat inside. Make sure it’s coated extremely well. It will toughen the strips up.

Hey Mike...Saw your boat on a trailer at Screwie Louies today. Where were you heading? Western part of the lake?
I’m finally getting my canvas replaced after 21 years.... I’m out of town this week and figured now was as good a time as any.
