Another possible option I have considered is putting a piece of aluminum on the top thats the same size as the cover and drilling a hole in each corner and putting lag bolts in. Just a possible option.

Just curious but was that a plate full of perch eggs? If so what do you do with them?

I have the same boat with the same problem and I also have been trying to think of a way to reinforce it as well. I think the only way to do it is to add some type of metal support to it, but it's not an easy task when working with saggy fiberglass. I have actually been considering having some one make a whole new one for me made from aluminum with some type of cross support underneath and then I figured I would put some sort of non slip coating on it. I wish someone made a strong replacement but I have not found anything yet.

I can't wait to see this, it will definetly make it hard for me while I am working to not want to go home sick!!!

A friend of mine told me that every time he puts gas in his boat he puts stabil in his tank because of problems people have with the ethanol, I was wondering if this is a good idea or not and if anyone else does this. Do you really need to do this to avoid problems or is it just needed at the end of the season before you put up the boats? I did this a few times last year but wasn't sure if it was needed.

I took a few pics of wrights landing today for you guys that are planning to head to Oswego this weekend. It's kind of a tight squeeze but I think most people can get through. Might need a pair of waders or hip boots because there is nothing to tie off to because of boats in the way along the only dock there. You can get a good close up clicking on the pics.

I have been down to wrights landing and the docks are stacked up in front of the ramps. There is just barely enough room to squeeze a vehicle through where the docks are, so if you are real good maneuvering you will be able to get through and depending on the size of your boat/trailer could be an issue. If I get down there tomorrow I will post a pic for everyone of what it looks like.

Ok I understand now, so the purpose of the second pinch clip is to hold it on to the cable so it don't slip down right. That makes a lot of sense. I was thinking that you run two lines off that type of release. Thank you.

I was wondering how well the stacker releases work for riggers, and what is the correct way to set them up? How do you prevent the two lines from getting tangled? Here is a link for the type of release I am talking about I couldn't figure out how to post a pic of it.

I am the one who started this topic because I am trying to get my boat rigged up and I totally agree with you muskybob that if people have an issue they could have dealt with it through a pm instead of POLLUTING my topic. I must have missed that jab towards you from whoever it was. I always appreciate all the helpful tips from you and most others on this site, and I also plan to use many rubberbands!!! I can't tell you how many times I have pulled up giant wads of mono tangled with hooks and every type of jig, lure, and rubber worm you can think of while salmon fishing from shore. If you plan to fish things are bound to end up in the river or lake! The only way to avoid it is to stop fishing and that will NEVER happen.

Seems crazy that someone would pollute the lake this way! I have never used them but with the price of release clips it can't be the cost, is it?

Nothing to do with cost I just heard that you get a lot less false releases with them. I have several pinch type releases. I don't believe that I am the only person to suggest using them, nor am I crazy. But I appreciate your concerns.

What type of jigs did you use? Bucktail or rubber?

I thought I would try using the rubberbands for planer board releases this year and I was just curious what you guys are using for clips to put them on. I know there are a lot of different things people use. I have been told to just buy metal shower rod clips but is there something better?

That sounds like a good idea I have 2 boats a 21 1/2 ft. and a 14 ft. aluminum. Is the 14ft too small for that lake I have never fished that before.

Most of the fly's out there that you can buy are tied with flourocarbon already so you would just make it the length you want it. Check the package and you will notice this on most.

I'm sure you will get different opinions on this but I have used both and don't see any difference other than the price. The walker deeper divers are cheaper and they are my personal choice due to that, you can get them in many different colors. A few years ago a lot of boats in the Oswego area were using mostly black, but I think a lot depends on water conditions. I am in no way an expert on this just my opinion.

I feel your pain, I have a major case of cabin fever. I have a lot of new gear I can't wait to try out. Just waiting for the ice to melt!! It won't be long though!!
