  1. I was able to get a couple puffballs. My favorite way of preparation is dredge in egg, season with garlic powder, salt and pepper and fri in a pan spayed with Pam. After flipping I put on thin layer of spaghetti sauce and a sprinkle of parmigiana cheese. Puff ball tends to have little flavor and this gives it a pizza like twist. Also since very little egg sticks and almost no oil is used it is low calorie and healthy.
  2. I ground a bunch of turkey and goose thighs I’ve been saving. It is more time consuming than just breasting a bird but I hate to waste anything and it is very tasty.
  3. A few more trail cams.
  4. Unfortunately I didn’t get to hunt the early goose season but did head to Canada yesterday for the opener of ducks. It was a bluebird day but we managed to get a mixed bag.
  5. More trail cam photos
  6. After taking a limit of walleyes and releasing several more I was able to take down a couple gees.
  7. Checked the trail cams I put up and had deer on all 5 and turkey on most. Had 2 bucks.
  8. I’ve been working hard the past week setting up ladder stands and pop up blinds in anticipation for the upcoming deer season. It’s always good to get things done early so things settle down by opening day. I did lots of chainsaw work cutting shooting lanes and am very happy with my results. I just set out 5 trail cams for some intell before the final tweaking of my stands. I saw my first buck rub today so I’m excited to check trail cams latter this week. I will also be glassing fields to try to help pattern deer movement.
  9. Got a former student his personal best with our limit tonight.
  10. Give me a shout if you want to meet for coffee
  11. Another antler and fin dinner followed by an evening on the river. This time with my brother and sister in law David and Deborah Smith. Same results as last night but a couple bigger fish.
  12. Got together with My wife’s cousin Carol and Dick Beaulieu for an antler and fin dinner followed by a night out on the river.
  13. Talked to a bass boat at launch yesterday and she said there is an app that scan take and record a photo of fish with weight that will allow tournament fishermen to release the bass immediately. This would be a great improvement.
  14. I agree. When I began teaching in Alex Bay many students missed opening day of duck season. By the time I retired in 2007 things had changed and since that time they have changed even more. Not sure I could teach today but I have no regrets.
  15. Cisco I caught several this spring fishing browns. Very good smoked.
  16. Good report and great deer encounter
  17. Got out early tonight a caught 3 jigging and 2 that I released trolling.
  18. I was finally able to get my grandsons out on the river. They both did great landing 2 each and my wife caught the biggest of the night. we were done by 9:00.
  19. Put them at work in the garden this morning and planning a walleye trip tonight.
  20. Got the boys on Butterfield and each caught a bass and a bunch of bluegills.
  21. My grandsons are here this week and wanted grampy’s fish. They did a great job helping get the fish ready to fry. Now I need to get them out on the river to haul in a few. They had fun last summer fishing in their pajamas. IMG_4411.MOV
  22. Got another limit yesterday morning.
  23. Got out early this morning with Adam Powell. calm early but west wind built into 2 1/2 footers when we left at 9:30. Got to be no fun! Saw some fish early in 65-85 fow but only got 3 dink lakers. Moved out along the finger in 65-75 fow and took a couple browns on spoons and right before we left hit a nice king off the rigger on magnum spoon.
  24. I saw on the news there is a very big tournament at Wadington this weekend. Just not the Elite. Many major tournaments and club tournaments all summer long.
