  1. Another great day on lake ontario,I got a call from a friend and fish were found at 300 ft.We were just about there and hit a nice 18 lber on a mag green and white with black edge.michigan slammer.Caught a few more skippers and some lake trout.Great weather surface temp cooler than last week 62 degrees with break at 100.Big king was 140 ft.down on rigger, one hit on dipsey 0 for copper 450.Many good days ahead for sure

  2. Hi last year a water line coupler for my splashdown broke and filled up my motor well enough to stall the motor.I pumped it out and the boat ran and no more water when i came in.The boat never took on water before.Last week i pulled the drive and found water in my drive bellows,no damage to my drive luckly. There is a vent on top of the gimbal bearing and wondered if the water could come in there.Hate to change the bellows if they are still good(6 years Old)

If anyone has had experience in this id appreciate any help.

  3. Great day to be on the waterFish were scattered but we found good action at 300 and 150 anywhere from 90 down to 50.Lots a skippers and two nice lakers. One laker was caught on a dipsey. The flasher snagged a lost flasher and lure that still held the laker.I think there was something else snagged as the fish at first was very strong.A memorail fight as i never snagged another line that deep and also had a fish still on.

Many good days ahead for sure, water temp was 65 on top all the way outto 300 and 46 70 down.

    good luck

  4. Good morning,

last year i checked my gear case and it had some water in the lower unit.I changed it and last fall I found oil had mixed very little in lub.It came out with no water just grey lube.Wondered if it is o klike that or go for a prop seal.no grease on prop or shaft.Im also replacing the water pump,it lasted two years probably the plastic cup got over heated,to bad they dont make metal cups.Im also installing a alarm for overheat andnew flapper valves,so water doesnt get into the block.Any experience on these repairs welcome

    thanks

  5. Well said Les,

It reminds me of the way the state runs things today.Casinos are priority along with lottery galore.Gone is the day of knowing you have a secure job or pension. Its replaced with ,well you might get lucky at the lottery or casinos or the stock market,eeeee.. :shake:

A little off topic but unfortunately  today's reality..We definitely need new leadership in Albany.Every vote counts.

You and I are retired my goal is to help the younger bunch here enjoy someday what we have..

Then they to can have a lot of time in their latter years to fish to their hearts content.

Thanks guys. Mike you're always welcome on my boat bud. It would be great this season to go after some of those fussy little pecker heads together  .  I think this topic is a useful one and perhaps a first step in increasing awareness that there are existing problems as well as potential concerns if we keep doing "business as usual" without taking a close look at things and the possible consequences into the future. We are all in this together regardless of specific viewpoint or perspective.

  6. I guess they call the lure mimic minnow, have to wait now till it warms up some here.MY son uses his bass boat and is always moving like you said.Little anchoring. Also best time is early and late, sunny days are slow as the fish are shallow 10 ft now.You hardly ever see them but they ar there.

  7. It was basically a grind..... I've talked to a lot of guys that had good days in fields with sky carp and Mallards. For me , shooting a big bull Can is like you bow hunters who wait for that big buck... I spent a lot of money on fuel scouting, a lot of time watching the sky.... and a lot of swearing at flocks of Merganzers that looked like flocks of Cans from a distance..lol... A lot of guys think it's as easy as putting out a dozen mallards and using their $5.00 Duck Commander call they bought at wallmart the day before...lol.... figuring out loafing areas, feeding areas, the wind...how to properly set decoys to guide the birds into the "Kill Zone". Some groups of guys stand up and gang shoot into flocks and divide up the birds. I witnessed this a lot this year on a Finger Lake... I always ask, how do you know which bird you killed? If a big flock comes in, we have one guy shoot....and we try to only take one bird from a flock.... This way there is no question who shot what, and nobody is shooting over their limit.... sorry for the rant guys.... I take diver hunting as serious as I do Lake fishing..... looks like a Maine trip is getting planned for next year....

We hunted seneca one day.the birds came in around a point so fast you didnt have much time to get ready, lol  they were gone so fast.yes diver hunting is fun.I put my strings in a 32 gallon can one string per can about 25 deeks. So it doesnt take me long to set up.I think net year im going to try and rent a cottage and stay there for the late season  .The driving is where the problem is.

Was hoping they might extend the season due to such poor weather.
