  1. Not bad we only picked up 2 today. We were only out for 2 hours and had to call it a day.
  2. I've been following that project for quite a while now. It is an amazing feat.
  3. I have been in electrical maintenance my entire career. Working alone is not dangerous in my opinion depending on the task. Are you replacing a limit switch on a piece of machinery or are you closing a 120kv primary. Different situations call for different practices. If you do not feel safe doing something bring it up to your supervisor. I would not say an electrician has to be paired up doing routine maintenance following all safety procedures. But again not every task is a one man job sometimes it takes many people. I have worked for a couple very large manufacturing plants and safety is always first priority. Safety should always be your first priority.
  4. This time of year we are usually the lone ranger out of Olcott. Its a bit unpredictable this time of year.
  5. I would like to stay for a few reasons however there are more pro's than con's to leaving. The area is beautiful taxes are less gas is 10-15¢ cheaper far leas traffic.
  6. The area seems great. I am actually in watsontown. Thank you for the response I will check those areas out.
  7. So I just recently took a job in central pa moving from buffalo. I will be living in the Lewisburg area. I am trying to find some info on fishing the area especially the west branch of the Susquehanna. Any info would be appreciated. Please feel free to pm me. I apologize for this post not being about lake o but I am having a hard time founding any fishing info in the area. Buffalo ran out of decent jobs and I had to move. Not sure what Byron brown Is talking about when he said there is a lake of skilled people in technology since I'm an electrical tech. Anyways any info on the area is greatly appreciated
  8. DC motors do not have inrush current AC motors do. However you're correct about the switch being of equal or greater value than the load. Nothing worse than opening an under rated switch on full load. [ Post made via Android ] Why dont they? You have a perminate magnet field and a DC coil for an armature. Its more or less ohms law. An AC motor requires inductance to build a magnetic field so the stator is very low resistance until the inductive field develops creating resistance to the current flow. So when you start an AC motor it is basicly a dead short for a couple cyclesuntil the magnetic field devolps and the impedence increases. There is obviously alot more to it than that but that should some it in a nut shell.since DC current does not alternate there is no inductive reactance. Its just a coil being used as a magnet and it chase the field magnet. There is cemf to deal with but that is another topic. If you are really interested in this stuff a have a ton of info but it can get complicated.lol. hopefully this makes some sense for you. [ Post made via Android ]

  10. Sounds like it is going to be awesome [ Post made via Android ]
  11. If you want snows go out mid west. Kansas is a good start. They are here but the numbers aren't there IMO. Make a trip to western Kansas for all the snows and blues you can handle. If you do get a guide get references and check up on them. Every guide worth spending cash on will have references and proof they are as good as they say they are. That's just my opinion though, I could be wrong. [ Post made via Android ]
  12. I would see if the housing can be replaced for a reasonable price. My limited knowledge on radar would make me think it would cause a problem since the dome is acting as your antenna. I would call the manufacturer and talk to technician. [ Post made via Android ]
  13. Do not use a wet/dry vac to speed up emptying the tank. That's my only suggestion. Oh yeah no smoking.... [ Post made via Android ]
  14. You should be able to get a replacement connector. Check Newark.com just make sure they are identical. There should be part number on the connector somewhere. Then its just solder the wires on the pins and tighten a locknut. You should be able to splice the cable to put in a quick connect if you want to go that route just make sure you the wires all jive when your done. A twisted shielded belden cable would work but use what makes sense [ Post made via Android ]
  15. Thundersticks, smithwicks, rapalas. They all work in the right conditions. Natural colors are pretty consistsnt. Jointed seems to out produce on some days. [ Post made via Android ]
