  1. You may want to check these ones out. A great price to boot. http://www.fishonsports.com/deck-mount-rod-holders.html
  2. In Michigan we are allowed to use: Any fish (except lampreys, live carp, and goldfish) and frogs may be used as bait when legally taken and possessed. Not sure on other states regulations.
  3. I personally don't by cut bait. I have found over the years that just a stip of belly fat off a fish you caught works just as well. Usually after I clean fish I will cut some up into small strips with the skin on and put in a baggie and freeze. Take it out on next trip on the water. Usually 1 piece will stay on the entire day, just dip it back into the baggie to freshen the aroma up a bit.
  4. You may also want to try the good old Magnum Northport nailers, the 5.25" ones, trolled just up off the bottom. Some days they like them just a bit faster and we know they are gluttons for a big easy meal.
  5. 20 Red Eye Spoon, used but in good condition. 3.75" long $45.00 shipped to US only. Payment via PayPal is preferred. Please send PM only so first pm has the option. Thnaks.
  6. Thanks guys, it gives me a starting point for those slow days to seek out something different.
  7. Spring and Fall we all see the browns in close and are not too dificult to catch. But after the weather warms up and it turns into summer where do those browns go? Occasionaly we will get one while chasing salmon out deep but never anything consistant. Has anyone here targeted them during the summer or got into them heavy by accident? I asked this on another Great Lakes board but seemed others were wondering too with no definitive answer. I mainly fish Lk Huron and Lk Michigan but feel Lk O can't be too much different.
  8. Thanks for your interest but I have to decline as shipping cost to Canada via USPS is approx $33.
  9. Used Garmin unit complete with head unit, cover, mounting bracket, power cord, and external antenna. Face plate is free of blemishes or scratches. Took this unit off a boat I purchased. Power cord could use repair or replacement as it was kinked where it came through the dash and intermittently will shut of. Asking $125 + shipping. Paypal preferred.
  10. I changed over most of my trolling spoons to single siwash hooks this past spring. From what I had read, point should be turned down toward the cup and the width of the hook should be no larger than the width of the spoon. That being said, I used 2/0 on the stinger and standard size spoons and 3/0 on my mags. I will say one thing...... I will not go back to treble hooks. Hook and catch rate went up significantly. The singles buried well into the mouth and also through several eye sockets. I definitely like not having to fight through the net tangle that I usually experienced with trebles.
  11. I am looking for information from anyone that uses AIS receivers with their chartplotters. I fish mainly lower Lk Huron in Michigan and unfortunately most of my best waters are in the shipping lanes. I understand that these receivers will plot the ships on your chartplotter which I conclude would be a great asset when we are trolling out in those lanes to avoid the close calls with them, especially on those foggy days. Although most of the time on clear days it is fairly easy to judge where our paths may cross sometimes it is a bit closer that I would like. Any input would be appreciated.
  12. For Sale: 2 new, never used, Cortland fly reels in excellent condition. Both reels have a smooth, adjustable drag system. Cortland Professional CLX-2 Medium with WF6F Line This would make a good steelhead reel. Asking $70 + shipping Cortland IM-C1 Cassette reel Has reel pouch and spare cassette spool. Asking $55 + shipping
  13. Personally I like to run my big boards off the mast. A good set of dual boards will pull well and take your lines a ways out and the boards will not be way behind the boat. I run otter boats myself and find they perform superb and glide over the waves. Some people prefer the inline boards to which I do not. I am not a fan of having more crap hanging off my line and then having to unhook them before you land the fish. I think they have their place, say on a day when I only want to run 1 line off each side and don't want to put the big boards out for that but usually in those cases I will run a mini disc and set it to angle away from the boat. Good luck.
  14. Thanks for the info. Will take a look at the torpedos.
  15. I have seen these weights advertised online and have been quite interested in them. I was able to seem them in person at a recent fishing show. I spent a bit of time with the vendor looking them over and listening to the sales pitch. Price range was quite reasonable and within my ballpark. For those of you that have actually used these weights I would like to hear your pros and cons on them. Do they indeed have less blow back, do they track straight especially on turns or do they flare out. In spring and fall I target silver and lakers in the St. Clair River @ Pt. Huron MI where Lk Huron flows into the river at a significant pace at 4+mph. Combine that with my trolling speed, depths of 40 - 60' and my other balls rapidly sway back and forth and have significant blow back. In order to turn and go downriver I find it necessary to kick up the throttle and perform a rather quick turn to keep lines from tangling. Your experience with these would be appreciated. (Sharks are way out of my price range)
