Both fish was bring home for dinner.. But I decided to bring both fish on my captain boat and my captain was unpacking stripers from charters.. He was shock and impressed with my fish! my size was almost double than his fish! But my captain had little video from that stripers for me.. Still figure out how to sent video on computer so he can sent to me.. Lol Sorry no photos.. [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  2. Come on! you guys killing me with your fishing reports! I almost itch to come down there to join with you! Unfortunately, I am stuck in internship. However, Great fishing report!
  3. I haven't target them yet, but recently, found few waters that had Broodstock Salmon in them. Have any advice to target them? If you have any experience with them since it might be different than kings in Lake O. So given couple months of experience of fishing at Lake Ontario with Pike Hunter. I am fairly know how to running the system along with planer board/downriggers. Only couple of problem are that lake is only max 40 feet deep. No humps on that lake. Basically, it is bowl lake. Plus, I have planer boards, not downriggers. So, I will be using rapalas and couple of spoons off planer boards to spread them out. Is that is good idea to start off to search for them? Since I don't know where to start at first place. I might start trolling around whole lake to see what happens. Huge factor for me, I don't have any electronics on my boat. So I got to give my luck into this one. Hopefully, I will start get my first salmon in Mass. p.s. They are in Massachusetts water, not in NY.
  4. I wanted to go flyfishing for trouts after 11 or 12 years that I haven't tried to fish for them. So I decided to go my favorite spot. Lucky for me, to remember all of those years of fishing! i'm aren't that old yet. haha Anyway, went there at 7am in the morning, and couldn't believe how scenery changed after those years. River seem little faster flow than I expected but there are more pools and quiet areas. I decide to go fish on those each spots. my fly got hammered everytime when I cast it. But failed to hook up the fish. saw couple big trout jumped out of water to smack my lure before it was land on the water. I switched to fly popper. Smart move, smacked many trout. Most of them was brown trouts. But landed two trouts that I have been trying to catch, Tiger trout and red brook trout for long time. Didn't realized that trout was around here. Eventhrough, it was small trout. maybe between 10-13 inch. I'll take it for anyday. Very generous colors on both trouts. Total 13 trouts being caught and released back into water. Biggest one was probably nearby 19-20 incher brown trout. I kept going on each spot, i was surprised because it is almost like border line for trout and panfish. Because one small pool area on river was full of trout and next spot, was fulled with panfish, mostly crappies. ranging 4-5 inchers. Amazing is that it wasn't 8 o'clock yet! I decided to call quit since my arm get hurt after painfully controlling trouts on 2lb tippet leader. I was pleased with result for trout population in Massachusetts. Last time I fish for them, it was very hard to catch them even I can see them swimming around. But it is not that many as today. But unfortunately, our water is not same as Lake Ontario monsters! Look forward to go out again on next weekend. Sorry, no pictures, but left my phone in the car while I was almost 1.5 miles away from it. Next time, I will try to remember to bring the camera to post for you guys! p.s. Let's go USA Women Soccer Team!
  5. sandwick50 - I was using steamer and surface popper. steamer at beginning of night when moon comes up, I switched to surface popper since i can barely see popper was making tiny splash then big splash. you already know what it was.
  6. I heard this from my captain while I was working few days ago, someone was fishing for Bluefin tuna couple days ago, That boat was trolling and caught huge tuna on squids spreader bar. from between P-town to Chatham. Another boat ran up and saw that spreader bar that another boat was fighting with it. That boat decide to harpoon the tuna and got it. Then he told another boat that he was caught this tuna and it is his fish, not their. Another boat was very angry and pulled shotgun on that boat who harpooned his fish. (That's only I heard from my captain, I am not sure what happened with that fish. I assume that person did give back to that boat who caught it in first place, not harpoon idiot!) Honestly, I would do same thing if I was captain of boat who caught the tuna. Since their life depend on catch fish and charter for someone who want to have fun on the water and catch prize fish for lifetime. I just think that situation was just another idiot who have the money and thought it was fun thing to do that. This was first time I heard that story in my lifetime. Sounds like people getting idiotic in every minutes! This was amazing story with very dangerous idiot person can do with another person's fish! Remember one thing, Tunas are considered one of highest prize fish in world. So, comment here based what do you think about this situation.
  7. I set new goal for myself, going fly-fishing after 9pm on lake. I was expected to snag something such as trees or bushes or getting line mess. or something else since it is dark out there. But I was pleased to say, result was very great than I expected. I caught 17 sunfishes, 5 crappies, and 3 largemouth bass. In which, bonus was 2.8lb largemouth bass taken on 4 pound tippet line. I must say, it was wicked awesome because it is dark out there and you can't see anything except feeling the line when fish bite. Until moon comes out, I was shocked because I saw ton of panfish and another kind of fishes was jumping around, that got my line fired in every cast until bugs got best of me. anyway, I was fishing at 945pm last night and quit sometime around 1030pm. sorry, no pictures at this time, since it was too dark to take picture with flash on.
  8. WOW! sound like I have to get some of them on my hand! for your baits! congrats to those who catch those fish!
  9. this fish was taken out block island, RI. using drifting method with live eels. http://boatinglocal.com/fishing/77-4-po ... ecord.html He beat his personal best state record striper bass that taken at 2008. What's amazing feat that he recently had. I thought you might like to read something so here it is.
  10. flashpoint - Yeah, thanks! I am sure you will break that 40lb barrier. I am usually get up to 5 fish that are over 40 lbs each year. but this is my first one of year. still looking for that special 50lber striper. Mostly my fish was caught on drifting and casting. no trolling for stripers except after for blues. occasionally, get baby stripers on trolling. In any way, it is definitely great feeling to get stripers.
  11. Zebedee - yeah, I don't want to give any signs where I am fishing so crowd can't find it. (that's why boat is blazing around) mortigan - ohh, I got it. Good luck with fishing up there. look forward to see some report out of you. I always going salmon fishing everyweekend in the fall. (Rochester areas only along couple tribs that are far away)maybe we can get together or bump into each other sometimes along with some advices about fishing. bloodshot - I wish I could tag along with you! But my internship is right at Boston, MA so i wont be around in NY for whole summer until i get back in college at september. Maybe we can get together sometimes during in the fall... sound good?
  12. Ray K - yeah, it is. Now, where is your fish at? umm.. I think whole hudson was emptied right now since there are bunch cows stripers coming in pods at right now. Mortigan - you already know where this striper bass was caught at. I already told you on PM before. Pike Hunter - Bluefin tuna and huge stripers just arrives in pods so they are here right now. IT have been on fire from last weekend to now. if you can find report up to that areas. let me know when you plan to come. Im totally free on weekend only. Slimyfish - haha. yeahh.. bloodshot - haha maybe because i always loved saltwater when i grew up. now, i coming into new york's fishing lifestyle. I have to say, (while didn't go smelt fishing often yet) it was fun to fish after them. My weakness to not pull the rod so hard that smelt can ran free from that hook! we should get together sometime when winter season begin again. i bought 4 man shelter for this winter season! no more of hardcore and pain to fishing on hard snow storm for me. look forward to it.
  13. I went out fishing almost daily in June until I got the Internship position in which I took the chance. Now, it is seem like it is might possible that this fish is my last catch of summer. This fish is definitely beast! 53 incher and 41 pounds. The biggest one so far for this year. (sorry about lousy quality from cellphone) This season is just pre-beginning. Unfortunately for me, it is first time in ten years that I had to miss Striper Bass Commercial fishing opener in July. It will definitely take toll on me since I always looking forward to that bass smacked on end of wire line and getting arm strained from that. However, whole month of striper bass fishing from charter boat. I must say that I got feel that this year would be best year for striper bass fishing to come compare to couple of years ago. But looking forward to fish some weekend if I have available to do it. p.s. Ray K, are you drooling at this photo already? I told ya that I will beat ya! I lost count of striper bass that I caught recently. maybe like over 150 to whatever your number is already.
  14. I might found right one for ya! Unfortunately, it is not around 23-24 footer. look at this link. http://www.fishingfury.com/20101209/couch-fishing/ maybe this would be one of your winter project?
  15. Congrats! Did you tried to fish for Cods? There was bunch of stripers that mixed with cods. I caught couple of them between 30-35 inchers. I have to say, I think this year will be blast year. I never saw Cods like this at before and they are travel in pack of schools at waves to waves. Bunch of babies cods between 20-25 inchers. This made me, wondering and exciting for July and August on stripers. (This is great sign to come)
  16. rolmops - That's cool! I went out that port for monster flukes in the past. But haven't went there since 2003. Monomoy island is one of my favorite place to go for stripers.
  17. Have any recommend on where should I park my SUV at that port instead paying some cash for it?
  18. That's awesome. I never fish that area but I did ran out of that port. Sound like I will try going there unless something come up.
  19. Oh sweet! I will be in dennisport at this weekend. At Grindell, (name might change but I don't know) if you know where it is. Do you mean, (the flat) that is up at Bass River or what? i'll definitely will bring kayak down there.
  20. Oh yeah, I haven't going out saltwater fishing yet. I gotta get out sometime soon. But I am already being first mate and crew on Roccus boat (striper bass boat) out of Chatham, Ma. I have been running for it since 11 years from up to present. I started working on that boat since I was 12 years old. Can't wait to start working on this July for Commercial Striper Bass season to start again. They are my one of my favorite fishing game to target after them. All of my striper bass fishing was done on drifting. Dang, I am already missed those striper attack on end of line. (if you are striper bass fisherman, you will know what I am talking about.) You will instantly tell if it was monster or baby striper after feel the attack.
  21. Zach - Yeah, I would. Unfortunately, I am back to my hometown state. so I couldn't target them until I get back in September. So I can attempt after them again.
