I would always use the bend in the dipsey rod as my guide. Worked for me until I spent the money on the fish hawk.

Dickey and I worked hard this morning but never found Browns.
We trolled 100 to 150 on the way back from Cowsucker looking for Kings with the same results.
Funky, only saw one other boat all morning from Braddocks to Hamlin.
Was really a fun trip. Great conversation with someone I met on this site and all in all a perfect morning, a couple of screaming reels would have been nice but still a fun morning on the lake.

Bill (whaler),
Thanks for taking me out and had a great time and good conversation. Hope we can do it again.

Also fished off Braddock on Wednesday from about 745 to 1115 any where from 60 to 150 ft of water. Also marked lakers on the bottom and occasionally some fish at 40-50 ft. Had 3 releases but no hookups. All the releases were in the 50 to 670 ft range and way off the bootom so maybe small fish (coho) that just could not hook up. Did not mark any bait pods either. Tough day! I also saw that boat in the high grass and wondered what the story was. Thanks for sharing that info. Could be very tough getting that boat out of there. Hopefully no one was seriously hurt/injured. - Mr Kato
No injuries. Was an interesting call to say the least. Lol

If only they had a dog, guns and camo it would be a great PY duck hunting picture.

Funny you mentioned a dog. There was a dog on board. We (Lakeshore FD) got dispatched on the call at 9:42 on sat night. Multiple people on board. He said he was fishing and new to area. Said he was going 25mph and just buried it. Heard they tried to pull it out Sunday and it ripped the cleats off. We put the fire boat in at Braddocks on the 15th and had 2 rescue calls already. Hopefully I won’t meet any of you out there while I am on the fire boat. Be safe

Fished Sandy with cousin and his wife on 5/16 on his boat. 2 for 3. Small coho I think? Pic attached. Caught on dipsey out 150 over 100. Skippy king on rigger at 60 over 110. Lost a laker behind the boat Fished 7-11. Didn’t mark much. Just nice to be out with family and seeing some fish on board.

Get away from the river. Go east or west your choice there are fish both ways. River to Braddocks bay or river to webster park. 2.0 to 2.2 speed do s curves every 100 yards. You will catch fish

Thanks for the info. What do you run your spoon leads on riggers?

Took a buddy out for the shakedown. Launched at 3 and came in at 6. Stayed close to the piers. Water temp was 45 at the mouth. Tried both sides of pier with no luck. Ran 2 inlines, 2 divers and 2 riggers. I haven’t fished for browns since I was a kid, so I have a lot to learn. Hope to get back out soon.

Down to 125' I will run a 15lb weight, anything deeper I go to a 20lb weight.
Rick,
What type of rigger weight do you run?
Thanks

I did fixed cannon bases and bought the scotty riggers that swivel.

As said above. Yes, just did that same exact combo on my boat this year.

Merry Christmas to a great group. Many people including myself have benefited from people in this group and that speaks volumes about this group. Have a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

“Dad I just shot a big one, he’s rolling around in the field. I just shot him two more times, I hope he dies soon I’m out of slugs!”
Happy kid and his brother shows up to help. His biggest by far, great stuff.

If your kid is not catching big fish he is shooting monster deer. Congrats to him!

Good luck Bill, go get him. I will be out in West Sparta tomorrow. Passed up on a 6 pointer last Sunday for hopes of a bigger one.

yes they are dark fish, but nothing like short leads and shallow strikes
Monday was a blast. Big fish in shallow water with short leads and nice weather made for some intense runs and fought like crazy near the boat. Would have been even better if I landed my 2 but putting guests on fish makes me feel good. Hoping to get out again this week if possible.
