For my coppers, I start my leads at about 25ft, so I can cut and retie as needed. Dipsy leaders I keep 6-7 ft. Leadcore, we found shorter leads (8-10ft) consistently out produce longer leads, especially with spoons.

Did it a bunch of times on private boats, charter teams, and consistent high placing tourney teams. Learned something every trip out. Like others have said, there will be teams posting here looking for observers.

Depends if you plan on catching a lot of big fish or a few little fish

Looking for a sg47lca or sg47lcb. Bonus points if it already has Tuna's power handle.

I use his 12# with the same riggers. If I want to do deeper than 130ish, I throw on the 16#ers

It's mid-Feb and just starting(ish) to get ice coverage, and quite later than normal. I can't imagine the ice will get too thick. Taking a peek at the future temps, looks to be a slight warmup after the weekend.

We had good luck this year with 10" flashers with longer leads on meat or flies. One more thing to add to the arsenal

x5 on mix. I have yet to go through my logs from last year to see which put more fish on the boat. Like reelintense mentioned, more variables than just type of flasher

Make an appointment with the DMV for registration. Titled a boat never registered in NYS. I was in and out in under 10 minutes. And that was with the DMV not knowing how to deal with a USCG documented vessel
