  1. Toss some thoughts on where you think you are going to find them Saturday. Looks like the only possible break this weekend. I plan on going out Saturday. Just don't have too many ideas.
  2. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name: ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s): Time on Water:4 hours Weather/Temp: 60 Partly Cloudy Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: 2-3 Surface Temp: 63 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 5 Total Boated:2 Species Breakdown: Steelhead Hot Lure: Storm Fire Tiger Trolling Speed: 2.5 +/- in the waves Down Speed: Boat Depth: 21 Lure Depth: 10-90 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS Got a nice start early fished in close to the east of the bay all the way to Webster pier. saw very little on the screen. Headed out to 80' and saw more activity but only a couple blank hits. About 9 one of the long lines I was running off the side took a hard hit and we caught a nice 6.9lb Steelie. Got it on a Storm Fire Tiger. Nice fight. One in the box. About ten mins later a Rappala Fire Tiger patter took a 3.9 lb Steelie and that was it for the day. I was over 70' and seeing fish in the top 20' we circled and tried to find the fish but no luck. Had six assorted spoons from 10'-65'getting washed but no takers. We saw a big waterspout to the west, it went way the freak up. We had another spout that tried to form in front of Webster Park but it just faded away. It was about 250 yards away from the boat. Picked up lots of water then died. You could see rotation in the clouds above us, almost like being in Kansas. Was very interesting weather. ====================
  3. Fishing Report Your Name / Boat Name:The Gizmo ============== TRIP OVERVIEW ============== Date(s):6-10 Time on Water:4 hours Weather/Temp:Awesome after the rain in the early am. Wind Speed/Direction: Waves: Nill Surface Temp: 58-61 Location: LAT/LONG (GPS Cords): =============== FISHING RESULTS =============== Total Hits: 4 Total Boated:o Species Breakdown:Rainbow/ Unkonwn others Hot Lure: J-13 Trolling Speed: 2.0-2.8 Down Speed: Boat Depth: 80-150 Lure Depth: 70-30 ==================== SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS ==================== Had a trying day. Got off to a slow start because of the rain. There were a few boats around early just to the east of the bay and a couple straight out. We were watching and no one we saw was working fish. We headed north with no luck only a few bait fish here and there. We just started a turn south when one of the rigger rods popped and the line was peeling off. It was a huge rainbow. For me it would have been the biggest ever. ( I have caught a couple in the 19-20 lb range) We had it up behind the boat three times but could not get it in the net. Then it swam under the boat and the line got caught in the wire and poof it was gone. What a spectacular looking fish. I am not good at judging size but the guy I was fishing with said it was all of 25lbs. The colors were so bight in the water. Its is amazing how strong they are. This was just the start of things gone wrong. Anyway it was a great day out even if my snubber snapped on a very nice specimen. Strike two. I guess strike three was the jumper three jumps awesome the fly with nothing on it not so awesome. One more rigger trip and I call it a day. Great weather great company and I sunburned my nose. The Rainbow took my $10.00 brand new Rappala Chartreuse J-13. I be out to see Pat this week to get another. Rainbow 1, Rappala 0

Lost a bigger one at the net. Got my Rapala should of let him have more line. All in all it was a nice day out enjoyed the weather and the company. ====================
  6. I have to say that I have had one of the best Steelhead seasons ever. It was topped off when my kid hooked up with a beauty that tried its imatation of a polaris missle. I have never seen a fish go so high out of the water. It weighed 19.6 on the Boga. My biggest surprise was finding Atantics and putting some big ones in the boat this year. All the Atlantics were on green and black NK mags. My hottest lure this fall has been the Stinger wart frog magm. Its your fault I bought this boat Bruce. I have had the opportunity to learn from you and others. Its taken me 3 years and I get it now. Thanks for all the great post [ Post made via BlackBerry ]
  7. I hear tell that there are even bigger hogs hiding out down there. NICE FREAKING FISH
  8. We are going back Saturday. I think I am going to put in at Lodi. I have been trolling 2.3-2.5. I know that's fast for the Lakers and the Browns. I don't seem to pick up the Atlatic's on the flies w/o the speed. I will slow it down a bit and submit a report.
  9. Any time I see anyone "Fly Fishing" loaded with "Orvis Gear" I have to giggle. It certainly is expensive crap. The are at least two New York Companies that make Fly gear far superior to the Orvis stuff. Maybe when Wulff was fishing it was something to have. These days if you can buy it you certainly have more money than brains and very little experience on the water.
  10. If you have some useful info to post put it up. Otherwise keep quiet. Why waste time with a worthless report. Go brag someplace else. An Orvis endorsed Guide? Wow that certainly impresses me. At least you caught one. You certainly impressed me Capt. Scott with that informative post. Anyone buying anything "Orvis" these days has more money than brains. What was once a Great Name in fishing gear has been outsourced to Asia and it's cheap Asian junk these days bearing the Orvis name. Just another once great American Company that has sold it's name to the Chinese.
  11. I was out with a couple of friends. We trolled for several hours. We marked lots of fish at 100' I tried lots of different spoons, sticks and flies with 0 result. I was north of Sampson. We had two releases but no fish. Had two dipseys out and two riggers down. Had a long line with a diver out of the back. Anyway the kids were getting bored with all the trolling so we went looking for small mouth and bluegills. I can't believe the size of the bluegills. One of the boys caught a 21" smallie. It was fun to watch that one come up. It was my first time trolling on Seneca. I'll get it sooner or later.
  12. I had a musky on in Waneta right past the point by the scout camp. I don't even want to guess at the size. It was well over 30. I snapped a 40lb mono leader like it was not even there. I am now running all steel. I want this one for a picture so you will all believe.
  13. Yes your right. That's why those of us that are paying attention and thinking are going <10 mph at night in the bay. How fast do you really need to go in the Bay at night anyway, Since the Coasties and the Sheriff call it quits at 8PM for the most part some feel that they can do speed runs in the bay at night. It happens every year. It's hitting the pier or a channel marker that seems to be the result. Some greenhorn in a fast pricey boat WITH MORE MONEY THAN BRAINS. I am pretty experienced on the Big Lake and the Bays. I have a 21' rig that is going the speed limit in the channel and on the bay. I am sorry that I get in way of the Wellcraters but that's the way it is. I doubt you will see my rig splashed against the pier anytime soon. I guess I should feel sorry for these fools, but I only feel sorry for the innocents that are hurt or killed by the fools behind more boat than they should ever be allowed to drive.
  14. There was an accident last weekend on I bay. The driver impaled his very nice cruiser on a concrete buoy marker. Hit it dead on at about 9:30 at night. We saw it Saturday night coming in and it was tied up and under water Sunday am on the way out. Three were hospitalized. There are so few of these markers in the bay it's incredible to me that this driver scored a direct hit. I so disagree about your suggestion for a "mandatory boating license". Is that just one more layer of additional BS just to fish with my boat. You can't teach some people anything. Spend a weekend on Ontario. The more money it seems you have, the dumber you are. Accidents will always happen.
  15. I agree 100% with you. The colder it is the worse it gets. I got so fed up I cut all the flourcarbone leaders and replaced them .
  16. I am going to try and get out next weekend. I hope the wind stays down. If I can get myself out of bed early it should be good fishing.
