  1. First off- I think it is important to hear everyone's opinion on stuff like this. With that being said- I don't see how encouraging kids to enter a tournament changes the format of the tournament or affects somebody fishing the tournament without a kid? Chances are, you would only see the kids after the tournament and only in passing while on the water, so in theory, your fishing would be exactly the same. After the tournament, you would probably see the kid(s) at the cookout but you aren't obligated to spend time with them, you could shoot the breeze with others as you normally would (and get ice cream too!) I brought 2 of my nephews last year to the tiger tourney and I don't think anyone had an issue or even really noticed they were there (although to be fair they took off midday because of other plans). Either way, I'll bring anyone that wants to fish along with me, regardless of age, and still have a good time because it sure beats working around the house. PS- Kudos to those of you volunteering/donating things for the raffle tables (regular & kids)! I'm hoping one day I'll be able to add to the table... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  2. I agree, it should be all about the kids. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  3. I've heard through other internet discussions (take this as you will) that due to the properties of titanium, repetitious bending can cause breakage/failure with no warning. Steel that sees the same bending will show kinks/deformation and you know it needs attention/replacement. I'm not sure how true that is but it was enough to scare me off from titanium... I'd rather see bends and kinks in the steel after contact so I know if the leader has any life left in it, I'd hate to forget how much action a leader has and have a failure. Sk8man- using them in saltwater and for pike, have you seen this with titanium at all? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  4. Stay-lok snaps for sure, I have seen 2 other types of snaps open up after fighting and losing a fish. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  5. I agree with Steve, I was bit off on fluoro once, I only use steel now. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  6. Zach- I sent a rough draft to esoxonly, let me know your thoughts when you see it... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  7. I can hang up fliers in the Syracuse area... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  8. I really like this idea! I would like to attend all the tourneys but the distance really limits which ones I can fish (usually 0 or 1 tourneys). What does everyone else think about this? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  9. Also, I would love to see those kind of numbers for participants, the tourneys are way more fun when you have a big crowd! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  10. I do think a team should somehow be rewarded for catching more than 3 fish. Say team "A" catches 10 fish with their three biggest being 40, 40, 40. Team "B" catches 3 fish, a 40, 40, 41. Although team A caught 7 more fish (which is amazing when you talk about muskie) they would lose out to team B because of 1". I would say giving a point or half point for each fish over your 3 fish limit could be a way to "compensate" a team for catching a lot of fish. Or we could say....too bad, 3-fish is the rule... Either way, I like the team format and we could try the 3 fish rule for 1 tourney or an entire season and see how everyone likes it. If it doesn't work out, we could always revert back. 11. I interpreted it as counting the teams 3 biggest fish, not the first 3 fish your team gets. I think that would be interesting and would like to try it out Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  12. Do they have weekly bass tourneys there? I remember my first trip to waneta on opening day I had to park 1/4 mile up the road from the launch.... As for the team tourney, I think it's a great idea, it'll prevent any suspicions of who caught which fish.... The only possible downfall is if someone is casting alone, they would be at a disadvantage up against a boat of casters or two trollers with 6 rods out. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  13. I'll split it with ya... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

  15. 80-100 lb. braid and 174lb. or higher steel leader. I will no longer use fluoro leaders after a heartbreaking bite off.....
  16. I know this is probably way too early but would they stagger stocking between Lamoka and Waneta (every other year), split the current Waneta stocking 50/50 between the two lakes.... basically, will they take fingerlings away from Waneta or leave Waneta stocking as is and add to Lamoka? I've fished Lamoka twice. Both times were for less than an hour during a mid-day lull. Like Tiger Stalker, I only get to Waneta a few times a year (100 miles one way) so I tend to fish the spots I know produce but Lamoka does have some nice looking water.
  17. It calls in the fish, I swear! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  18. Chad- here's my experience with my Lexa HD.... I bought it the week it came out. I was playing with it before I put line on and it had a slight rough spot every time the handle would get to a certain position. Once I put braid on it, you couldn't tell where the spot was anymore. On my fourth trip with it, the line guide started getting stuck to one side rendering it useless. Sent it to daiwa and they replaced a bearing and a few parts. I got it back and started putting line on it.... Line guide stuck again! Sent it back, this time daiwa fronted for next day shipping because I wasn't super pleased about the situation. I got it back and now the reel screams when you cast. From what I've read it is just a dry bearing....but super annoying.... As for the actual reel performance, I love it! It's very comfortable to handle, feels solid, I love the big handle/knob. I like a fast reel and this is the only option for a lefty (until the tranx 301/401 comes out). After my trip next week I'll be sending it out to get serviced, sell it, and pick up a tranx in the spring. Heck, maybe I'll keep it, I do like it now that all the kinks are worked out. 19. Any chance we could start distributing meeting minutes? I think that would add value to the members who cannot make it to the meetings due to distance. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  20. Tranx 300 and 400 are coming out this spring, available in righty and lefty....I can finally switch back to Shimano!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  21. I'll have a 400 HD 8.1:1 for sale after I buy a 401 Tranx in the spring.... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  22. Are absentee ballots available for those who can't attend? Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
  23. After reading my original post it sounded like it was written by a hormonal teenager crying about chores or something-haha. I'm hoping I can call tomorrow....
  24. Edit: After reading the article posted above and the current regulations, I really hope they clarify this issue in the next set of regs that come out. This is a big deal and needs to be clearly defined.
  25. I saw the tiger tourney as May 20th I believe, Chautauqua in June and another one TBA. They also have NY river seasons being June xx to Nov. 30th.... Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
