  1. Clover and chicory is looking better and better by the day! Had fields tilled on Monday but could not get the seeder running unfortunately, really wanted to get the seed in the ground before all thar rain on Tuesday. Got the seeder running after brining it home Monday evening, thank god! Headed back to the property last night and layed out all the Forage Rape and Turnips and rolled the fields after. First time this year I can say Im really hoping for some rain!
  2. That's awsome! Nothing better then fishing with your kids!
  3. 1st pic was taken 8/4 the day after this plot was mowed, 2nd one was taken 8/12. Amazing how fast just mowing ( since Clethodim hasn't taken its toll yet) can bring back the [emoji256] clover[emoji256] !! Super excited so far. Not to mention a couple bucks that will make to shooters list in the next few years!
  4. Whent back to my property that I lease last night to see how the clover was doing a week after being mowed. Starting to come back alot better then I anticipated! I sprayed all the clover with to kill the grasses last night also. Mixture was 10 oz of Clethodim 2 E and 10 0z of 80/20 Surfactant ( crop oil) in a 15 gallon sprayer. Research says it takes about 2 -3 weeks to knock out the grass, so it's a waiting game now. Also sprayed our biggest plot with Roundup to kill the grass in that so hopefully next week I can get in there and till it up and plant Turnips and Winter Greens. Can anyone help me with what kind of grass this is? It's covering a huge area that I sprayed last night but cannot figure out exactly what it is, almost looks like it was planted but it definitely wasn't.
  5. That's the plan, arrest and what I'm getting do the same thing, only difference is a pint of arrest is $40 and a gallon of Clethodin is $46, and I'd need a minimum of 2 -3 pints to hit everything.
  6. Some plots are worse then others for sure! Yet there is hope since there is a good stand of clover and chicory in all of them. I got soaked last night mowing all the plots but was planned perfectly with the rain we are getting. Putting my order to Rural King for Clethodin and Crop Oil tonight to spray the unwanted grasses in a week or two when everything starts to grow again. Fingers are crossed!!
  7. Yea I think I did! I will take before and after pictures of what I'm doing to see if it's the right decision, and help out others who maybe facing the same thing.
  8. That's the thing, I'd rather try and get a few years out of the clover since it's only 1yrs old. I'd rather try and save it instead of starting from scratch. That's ALOT of time and $$ to restart. These are some pretty decent size plots and with the amount of clover in them, there has to be a way to save them
  9. Ok guys...... I have a ? regarding my clover / chicory plots. They were mowed once in the spring but had alot of weeds mixed in. Decided since I was so busy from then till now to let it go and see what it would do. Checked them out last night and there is alot of big nice lush clover in the plots but ALOT of weeds. My question is, is it better to just try and mow it again to try and knock out some of the weeds or spray clethdine, which is from what I have read kills broad leaf weeds and grasses but won't hurt clover or chicory. I'm used to starting from square one, instead of bringing a plot back from the over populated weeds.

  11. Or better yet if anyone knows, has, or hears of a Beckman that is for sale, I know a guy looking for one!
  12. Now that my Beckman net is on the bottom somewhere in the neighborhood of 580 fow I'm in need of a new net! Really sucks because that was the best net I have ever used and they no longer make them.[emoji22] [emoji22] Was wondering what else is out there that is good quality and preferably a hook less net?
  13. Can't answer that at this point, have to talk with others on the committee. It shouldn't be to late, no reason to keep people waiting.
  14. Yes registration will remain open untill the evening before the Shootout.
  15. Yes registration will stay open untill the evening before the Shootout happens.
  16. ** ANNOUNCEMENT * * Due to the Small Craft Advisory they are calling for tomarrow Big Fish Friday will be CANCELED. We will revisit the weather again tomarrow to see if it will be held along with the Shootout Saturday. ( Not looking good either). Registration will remain open untill tomarrow when we decide if fishing will happen Saturday or Sunday. Unfortunate but we all new it was coming. Stay tuned for further updates.
  17. Really????? Wow
  18. Awsome stuff congrats! Can't wait to get back to Erie soon!
  19. *ANNOUNCEMENT* as far as Big Fish Friday goes!! As of right now I'm sure everyone knows that the weather does not look like it is going to cooperate for us fish Friday. It is NOT canceled as of right now, but will know better tomarrow. If we can not fish Friday the BFF event will be held on Saturday in conjunction with the Sandy Creek Shootout. If the Shootout is canceled due to weather on Saturday ( possible bad wind again) the BFF will be in conjunction with the Shootout on Sunday. Also you may register to fish the BFF event untill 8pm the day prior to when it will be held and obviously we can not make that call at this point. This year has been a huge struggle trying to get everything to fall in place but we are doing all we can possible to make it a fun weekend or day of fishing for everyone that wants to join!! Please stay tuned to keep up what is going to happen this weekend.
  20. I'm interested in the 2 300' coppers and the 400' copper! How much for each?
  21. Was wondering if anyone uses AFW surfstrand 1x7 copper? Thinking about trying it since you can fit much more on a smaller reel. Thanks in advance for any input!
