  1. North of the launch/access about 1/4 mile, just around the point. Most everyone else was scattered out in front of the launch/access.
  2. Took the drive from Rochester to Auburn to fish Owasco today. It finally froze up and we couldn't wait to get to Ensinore for some deep water lake trout fishing. Had a great day, iced 15 by 10 am with them all coming from 90 to 150 FOW. Sounded like everyone was doing well. Poked around for perch but couldn't find any. Safe ice (5-8") everywhere I went but you never get used to Mother Nature's cracking and groaning when you're over the deep water. I had a newbie go by just as the ice cracked and I thought I was going to have to carry him off the ice. Ensinore should have good ice for a few days. Driving home it looked like people were spread out all over the north end.

    I-Bay 1/11

Started early on the south end of the bay today. Worked both the east and west sides and everything in between. Not much action other than a couple of random shots in 20-30 FOW. Left around 10:30 thinking it wasn't worth getting wet from the rain or falling on the ice. If you go take your cleats!! An inch of water on top making it extremely slippery and a real lower body workout if you want to move around. Being sore will be a good excuse to lay on the couch and watch football today and tomorrow .

    I-Bay 10/11

Worked the bay for a couple of hours today. Unbelievable weather and good fishing. Stopped at the buoys on the way out and dropped a line. Picked up a couple quickly but they were small so we moved on. Ran down to Glen Haven hump and they were waiting for us in 25 FOW. Steady pick of whites and yellows with a few silvers mixed in. Picked up a catfish for the second time in a row. Couple yellows were 12+". Bite slowed at noon so worked north on the east shore. Picked up a few more but best stop was between the first and second bridge piers. Saw plenty of bent poles so I don't think we were the only ones on them. Surprising how many whites I've reeled in. Definitely the most I've ever caught in the bay. Makes me wonder what they're doing to the yellows. Any thoughts?

    I-Bay 10/4

Got out today with WWIV to look for some jumbos. Didn't find the big ones but did manage to keep busy most of the day by moving around and checking different spots. Water temps a little warm, 65-67, but marked lots of fish and bait. Started out front by the drop off and finished in back by the Glen Haven hump. Best fishing was by Glen Haven in 20-25 FOW. Finished with a mixed bag of white and yellow perch and silver bass. We even managed to jig up a catfish. Should only get better as the temps drop.
  6. Launched the little aluminum in the early afternoon only to find out there were 3-4 ft rollers from the north so I stayed in the bay and picked up a couple perch. Checked the lake again around 4 and found it to be flat and calm. Headed west towards the Genny but didn't need to go to much past the I-bay beach before I found a pool of warm top water (47 F) between 5-10 fow. Had a few releases but only boated one fish. Water color looks good. Happy Easter to everyone, Luke 5:10 .
  7. The Victory Sportsmen are hosting their 20th Sportsmen Banquet on Tuesday, February 19th. If you've been to it before you know what a big event it is. This year we're mixing it up a little bit by not only having renowned deer expert Charlie Alshiemer speak but also fishing expert Jim Missel. Jim has won on the national crappie circuit, fished in national bass celebrity events, and won divisions of the American Bass Anglers. Jim is going to share with us the secrets of catching a variety of fish. As always a buffet dinner is included and a very family friendly event.
