  1. You have all good boats on there but be cautious of the older Luhrs. I'm in the same boat, no pun intended, looking for a boat 10-25k. I thought I was going to get a good deal on a 342 Luhrs and had a survey done and the boat was pretty shot even though it looked nice. I researched them a lot more and I believe pre 96 Luhrs used balsa/fiberglass (or some sort of soft wood) stringers that were very prone to rot.

  2. i was supposed to go look at it yesterday but seems like with that hours and just by talking to him it didnt seem like it was in the best of shape and i know he said the stringer and transom were original which could be an issue, if i do end up taking a look at it i'll get some pictures, he also mentioned its filthy inside

Thanks for the heads up. Messy is no big deal I was more worried about whether or not they had Baha like stringer and Transom issues which it sounds like they do.

  3. Hey guys I'm thinking about going to look at a 295 Penn Yan Prowler soon and was looking for a little more info on them. Any known issues and what are they like for space in the cockpit and in the cabin? I can't really find any pics of the inside of the boats and after scouring sites such as The Hull Truth I can't really find any reviews on them. Thanks Paul

  4. Yeah they dont run on hope and dreams.  I just take family and friends out and my gas bill is usually around $2000 to 2500 each summer.  $2k for slip fee for Lake Michigan.  Last years gear switchover and electronics upgrade was another $3k.

At $20 a head, I'd just need to take 350 people fishing to break even for last year :)

I'm surprised its that little. I go to school in Oswego so I brought the boat with me this last fall semester and between fuel costs for the boat and truck, snacks and soda, ice, tackle and the fact that I had to buy a parking permit to keep the boat on campus I spent about $1000 of the $2500 I saved from the summer in 4 weeks. Worst part is some of the kids that wanted to go so bad and caught their first King or Brown in the process were reluctant to throw in money for gas or anything. I think very few people realize how much this passion costs. Sometimes I wish I never went out with my dad and uncle and caught my first king when I was 8 years old because I'd have a heck of a lot more money in the bank. LOL

X3 The only time I don't ask people for money is if someone comes out with me just to help out and steer the boat and stuff while I fish. If someone asks to go fishing I 100% am going to get 20 bucks from them to help out with gas, tackle, etc. 25 foot boats don't run on hopes and dreams.

  6. Yeah, I only clear if I foresee a cluster f%&k.

In most cases once its foreseen its too late for me. Seems like its always the higher end of the teenagers that like to take a swipe across everything that you have out.

  7. I agree with most parts it's pieced together pretty badly with the different conditions. I like Dave C the best he's just a hard nosed fisherman that wants to get it done and he has by far IMO the best mate. Marciano and Hot Tuna are second because they're every day guys guys it seems. I'd love to try it out for a summer make a lot of money or go broke you're still fishing.. That being said I don't wanna miss the salmon season.

  8. I figure a lot of people on here watch the show to get through the winter. I just watched Sunday nights episode and was wondering about the "slime" as Dave from the Tuna.com called it. Is that the same thing as the sand fleas we get? Looked pretty similar and I thought it was kind of strange that the first time they have an issue with it on the show was the same year they were so terrible for most of us. I also noticed Tyler and his crew drinking beers while out fishing which I thought was pretty ballsy with a captains license and plenty of cameras around.

  9. Nicholas Glorioso he is down state and you mail your stuff to him , great work affordable pricing for quality of work . You can find him on fb . We use him and only him solely. 802-733-2590.also he is a veteran and still active in his service to the country that's more reason that I'll use him myself.

Funny you say that. I had him cape my first deer that I shot in Yaak Montana. He was neighbors with Tom from Mountain Men when he lived out there.

  10. Hey guys I know this is a stretch but yesterday the key for my car broke and the metal piece (key part) fell out of the plastic that keeps it on my key ring and its lost. Normally wouldn't be too big of a deal but it seems the ignition has been changed once and the key I had cut from the vin number doesn't fit. That being said they plowed the parking lots here at school yesterday and since my car couldn't be moved they towed it after telling me that they wouldn't because of my circumstances. So now my car has been towed for $110 and everyday I can't get it out of there I have to pay an extra 20. I don't have any family close by with tools or friends with tools and even with my craftsman tool set I can't fix it because I need a drill to get the shear bolts out of the ignition switch to remove the old one and install a new one with new keys. Any help would be greatly appreciated and if anything happens to any tools I will fully replace them. Paul

  11. We have always put corn in our back yard when it is a hard winter. We put it out for the turkeys but sometimes deer show up to it as well.  ;) A plastic 55 gallon drum cut in half and put in a cradle built out of 2x4s works perfect to keep it from getting buried under snow and can be set to perfect height for "turkeys."

  12. I don't know if there are any in your area but I use Sunmark credit union I got in at 2.49% on an $11k my truck with no credit and me and my father had a joint deal lined up with them on a boat for $18,000 and the rate was 1.99% but the deal fell through on the owners end.

  13. Hey guys I have a 2001 Tahoe Q7. For those that don't know Tahoe is Tracker's fiberglass "Fish and Ski" line of boats the Q7 being the biggest at 21 feet. This boat has roughly 75-100 hours on it. 305 Mercruiser with the alpha one outdrive. All new seals, bellows and impeller when we bought it in 2012 and only has about 15-20 hours on it since then. Oil changed in the motor and outdrive every fall before storage. Trailer is a Tahoe galvanized dual axle trailer with dual disk surge brakes. Interior is in overall good condition with a few slightly split seams but thats normal for a boat this age. here are a few cosmetic things with the boat but that is all. First one is there are spider cracks in the gel coat from the previous owner using suction cup bumpers with the boat, the other is the port side dashboard was cracked where it screws into the hull and we had it "professionally" fixed by a fiberglass guy and he recovered it and painted it but the color is a little off. Comes with a trailering cover and a mooring cover, mooring cover has a rip in the back from someone we let borrow the boat not tying it tight in a storm. Also has two bimini tops that have never been used by me and a snap in carpet that I don't believe was ever used. Boat comes with a couple sets of skis and a kneeboard. Overall its a good family boat that still has plenty of room to fish out of. Asking $7250 obo located in Saratoga Springs NY. (Boat is currently stored in a large storage barn and may not be able to be seen in person depending on whether or not the property is plowed out)
