  1. Hunted up north this morning didn't see anything so I got up at about 8 and started still hunting after a big track I came across. Got back to the 4 wheeler at about 915 and my uncle still hunted from his spot back to me and said when he crossed my tracks there was a doe and bigger buck track in my boot prints in the snow. Figures.

  2. Yesterday was a good morning for me despite a little screw up on my part. The woods was crawling with deer. Around 9am, two bucks started walking down the main trail through the middle of the woods (a nice eight and a five point). I took my eyes off of them to stand up and move to get in a comfy shooting position. The eight point was in the front when I took my eyes off of them. I figured the eight was still the lead buck (could not see either deers rack at his point) and shot the lead deer. Unfortunately, they had moved and traded positions! When the eight popped his head up and ran off, my heart sunk! The positive, it was a fifty yard run and the five point was done. I saw a couple other small bucks and some doe before this all went down.

my uncle did that in Idaho once about a 150 inch 10 pointer walked into a hedgerow we were hunting so he shot the buck that came out and it was a 110 inch 8 pointer.

  3. First buck for me, not the best picture to see the horns but it's the same as the other one in the picture. Got it when I was 13 in Montana on my late grandfathers birthday with his old model 110 savage .270 post-149334-14168427367881_thumb.jpg

  4. Shoulda bought a dodge... No I feel for you I put a dent in my fender when i hit a deer, just enough to crack the paint and piss me off. Not enough to get insurance involved. My buddy hit a deer just in the right spot to mess his whole front bumper up and it was 2500 in damage. Somehow geico figured it was his fault and raised his insurance. As much as I love deer sometimes I hate them.

  5. After seeing one within 50 yards while hunting in Montana and have another one coming up God knows how close to the tree behind me and my uncle sitting against a tree. I'm happy to believe there is none in New York. Nothing more eerie than hearing that scream in the brush behind you and never hearing anything coming or going.

  6. It did seem like an unusual opening weekend. Not a lot of shots (maybe 15 within an earshot yesterday) and I haven't seen the Facebook posts I usually do of people with deer big or small. I did see a normal amount of deer from my stand as well though.

  7. Ray, you forgot something.... Your GoPro camera..... Come on man keep up with the times would ya. Lol. I tell you something funny, tried it tonight, as a yearling buck comes scrambling through the swamp I about all I could do to not drop my bow while turning the damn thing on..... Hopefully I'll have it figured out in the am.

They're a pain aren't they? Me and my buddy use them for waterfowl hunting and about 3/4s of the footage we get is of each others faces making sure the others camera is recording lol

  8. This guy is now out here with 3 other people yelling and cutting firewood. He owns about 60 acres "just happens" to be all the good firewood is within the 1000 yards of creek that splits his property and those I have permission to hunt.

  9. We have a disgruntled Hunter from a few houses down, mad about some of the deer we've shot over the years that he's been after as well as an adjacent land owner that doesn't allow hunting. The hunter knows alot of the time when I shoot a deer because he's a member here so he feeds the landowner with info on if we're down there or if we shot deer. Whatta Ya know shot a deer and posted a picture yesterday morning and 645 this morning the landowner is doing laps on his 4 wheeler by one of our stands.

  10. He's a monster actually crossed the ridge above me as I was dragging this one out. Speaking of dragging I kinda wish my brother who's 6'7 270lbs didn't move out to Montana this lone dragging is for the birds lol
